Though the highest honors came to those that embraced diversity. And so he could not focus purely on the element of the Gods. He had no wish to be a priest or cleric. "I'm sure. Most pirates relied just as much on their infamy and reputation to intimidated sailors and towns from putting up a fight, as they did their own battle and tactical prowess. I suspect it is much the same in current times." He'd snap his grimoire shut when she spoke of moving on to different targets. He was game for that as well. The energy would diminish around him and return to the world around him. He'd push his glasses back up in adjustment as he glanced to the side. "You're not wrong." Of course, those stories weren't always bluster and grandeur; Blood Rose came to her the honest way. She took another step back from the dummies as Preston asked what she had in mind, scanning the field and nodding out to a more open area.
"They have clay pigeons here. We can try throwing them for targets instead." Movement and distance would provide a better challenge.

He nodded. He was eager to see if her agility matched up and how she faired on moving targets then. His role would remain the same he suspected. But that was fine, he was comfortable in his back lines. His masculinity was not threatened by standing behind a woman. His value was firmly held in his own mind.

It was a fact that Rozalin had picked up on and was grateful for. There was nothing worse than dealing with a man shoving his way around and bumbling in the way to prove his masculinity. It would have made this very different, even difficult. Rozalin would activate the machine with the clay pigeons, dark eyes scanning the sky and taking in the arc, letting loose a gust of wind that clipped the pigeon. The blow hit and made contact, damaging the object, but she knew she could do better. Her gaze narrowed in displeasure, but she would work with it.
Zero Ability: Ominous Winds – Rozalin is able to summon forth winds strong enough to berate her opponent and those in melee range. Damage is equal to 1/4 her ENG stat with a small knock-back effect.

"The wind is blowing to the East. You should compensate accordingly." He'd comment seeing her glancing blow. She'd landed the hit, but it wasn't a solid blow. Thankfully with him there her ammo supply would remain intact for the time being. His book opened up as he placed a hand on the symbols, symbols written with ink using the Blood of a great wizard. "Kiron Rot"! His holy energy rippled around his feet again, though far less powerful this time. He'd already shown off. Now he was behaving more practical. And once again his energy would shift from himself to her, replenishing her Qi. 0 Level - Rejuvenation - Holy Element - Support Archetype - Preston is able to infuse another with his Qi energy granting them another use of their Qi (Granted Qi abilities do not grant UP on use)

"Right." She kept the warning in mind, unleashing another target and aiming for it with the adjustment. This time, the blow struck true, and she gave a satisfied nod as the target fell to the ground. "You're quite skilled with your own ability. I'm assuming you've had it for some time." Since he had the ability to build a whole grimoire for it.

This time the attack landed dead on and destroyed the clay pigeon. He smirked in satisfaction. A minor adjustment was all that was needed, and she responded without hesitation. That was a good sign, she could trust his observations from his vantage point and adjust. This was promising. "Kiron Rot"! The energy flowed through his body back to her as she complimented his spellwork. A simple spell, but the one he was best with. His first spell, but it wouldn't be his last. He was starting off behind the game thanks to his travel time. But he still had high hopes for this little experiment. "I have a natural gift, and my grimoire contains all of my spells. Typically I would be attending the Academy of Magic to perfect attuning to the other elements. However, I have volunteered to come to Cabal as a student exchange to foster diplomatic relations. My hope is to learn something here to set me further apart from my peers." "A wise choice." Another clay pigeon fired off, another wind shot fired. She could hear the pride in his voice as he spoke of the academy he came from, the importance of the diplomatic trade he was on. Admirable, for him. Interesting for her. Something to keep in mind for the future. "I imagine there's plenty you could learn from different areas. Different techniques and ideas. Different people to learn from. Different ways spells can be used." Small talk as she prepared to fire off not one, but two pigeons for her next trick.

But he judged by how much of his energy he had put into her that even with that display she should still be fine. He could continue his steady pace for the moment. Especially because he could feel the end of his reserves starting to come upon him. Not a lack of magic, but the strain of converting so much energy inside of him. "Kiron Rot"! The energy's familiar flare encompassed her as he restored some of her strength and energy once again. She was growing used to the feeling of his magic, enough to push herself a little more with it. Rozalin knew that, by now, her own reserves would be empty, but she felt she had the power to keep going. It would do well in a fight when the tides were against them. "Necessity." It was best to keep the explanation as simple and vague as possible, for pride and practicality. She launched her attack at the pigeons, firing one after another as the targets exploded with satisfactory sounds. The smile returned, a bit of teeth showing as well this time. "Called in meaning they brought you in forcefully?" He knew that Territory 259 was one that had laws about Qi users. They were required by law to attend the Academy. Given the nature and history of Qi use, he could understand that. Even if it seemed crude to require it rather than incentivize it. But it was not his place to tell that to the leaders. "Kiron Rot"! His reserves were running low, it wouldn't be long until he was dry, but he wanted to continue to push himself. It would help strengthen his core and his mana reserves. "That tends to be the case when you disagree with a summons." And it had been a summons. She tried not to think of how easily she went down, but Emily had been strong. To be fair, she'd also been in the same boat as Rozalin; they both had higher-ups who had the main say over their lives. She only wished hers would have resulted in a mere demotion. "I am not from this area, but apparently their rules still apply. So, here I am." Her lips pursed as two more pigeons were launched. This time, she would use one wind attack to try and knock one bird into the other, testing a theory that did not pan out. Though the first pigeon shattered and moved, it was not with enough force to brake the other. Instead, the second was knocked off course. "Too far," she murmured, sending another wind slice at the remaining pigeon. It seemed she would need to stick with simpler applications for now. Looking back, she frowned at the sight of him. There were slight signs of strain, though he was good to keep them from showing during their conversation. "Are you good to keep going?" But he could continue, he knew his limits. "Kiron Rot"! He repeated, the flash of light signaling the spell went off as he rejuvenated his partner, allowing her to exceed her limits even as he reached his own. "Why would their laws not apply to you while within their borders?" That seemed an obvious thing. If she was trained elsewhere he was sure there were exceptions, but if not. She nodded at the assurance he could keep going, trusting in Preston's ability to know himself. She reverted back to more basic forms of attack, striking at another pigeon as she took his question into account. "I have been in a lot of areas over the years, staying in their borders only as long as it takes for a shipment. Any of them could claim the same thing. Qi users are met with mixed feelings, but usually are looked down on. It was better not to use my abilities unless I had to, and to keep it to myself." Even if it hadn't always worked out that way. Then again, better to have her brought in for her abilities than the ship for their cargo.
