Seeing him smile that widely actually made a chill run up her spine. That was just creepy even the slight dapper charm he exudes wasnt enough to change that.
She arched a brow toward the Prota men as he asked his question to them.

You all know what word in that conversation caught Rozalin's attention more than Avice's looks: crystal. Her gaze flickered over to the others talking, though she continued her talk with Preston as though nothing were out of the ordinary.
"I suppose we could look at the roster and see if there's someone we'd like to try ourselves against." Another glance, this time at a new sketch. He really was quite skilled, given she was already starting to see he was drawing the young lady with the flowing dark hair.
"You certainly caught his attention," she mused, lowering her voice to a murmur. "If he stared much longer, I thought he'd end up burning a hole through your skull." She wondered if it was the sketching, or something else.

Preston asked Roz in a hushed tone, dumbfounded by the audacity of the question. And not sure if he was impressed or not. Who fucking does that!?

Strike looked Eric in the eyes for a moment reaching for the gem on his necklace, pulling it from it's locked position free of the chain and holding it out in front of him.
"Trade secret."
He'd smile wide.
"Just joking. Each Prota soldier has one. It hold the power of a worthy Qi Beast. A sort of right of passage. I forget how little information we share with the outside. These gems hold our 'Battle Forms' if you will. Kind of like an armored uniform."

No nut is hardier for Avice to crack than Eric but we will see just how well he can crack them or just how littler these people truly intend to hide. She'd remain quiet.

Preston flipped back to the Strike and Eric pages, taking some notes in the margin about the gem and what Strike claimed it could do. Interesting stuff!

John would place the gem back in it's place on the necklace. Shifting his weight from one foot to the other. Rotating his left hand and bending his wrist for seemingly no reason.

She watched the fellow and senses about her examined him carefully. She wondered what she'd see with him either from hus Qi or himself personally. If he was raising to brawl like Eric suggested she'd hope to see it quickly.

"Forget asking outright or even stirring the pot," she murmured, sitting up a little straighter as Strike motioned with his wrist, as though some unbidden attack or force were receiving a signal. Eric's smile was sharp and bright, though the pretty little lady beside him seemed focused on whatever thoughts she had.
"They're both ready to knock the pot over."
