Word was that Hephaestus was at Cabal now, and word had also reached him that he had a pile of junk weapons and something fitting the description of his mace was sitting there to rot. A crying shame, and one that he planned to rectify.

John was in his shop, hammering away at his anvil and newer molds. His Hephaestus hammer was leaning against a wall near by, he was putting in the real work for this one.

John paused mid swing, sniffing the air. He'd drop the mold in the cooling pool and step back, rubbing his forehead. He'd turn to go to his junk pile when he spotted Mathew.

John would find some old armor and go back to his forge and drop it into the mold and wait for the thing to melt.

John would move to the junk pile and start throwing things to the side. Stopping for a moment he'd scratch the side of his nose and dig some more.
"Here it is."
He would pull the mace from the junk pile, some other junk hooked on the horns as he pulled it off and held the mace out for Mathew.

Mathew would take the mace, giving it a few swings to reacquaint himself with the weight of it.

John would shrug and shake his head.
"Like an eventuality? Asiv suggested it as a way to reconcile with his brothers and 'join' our forces more thoroughly. Honestly it's still surreal. It's been years and I don't feel anything towards it. I didn't and still don't know anything about the previous Hephaestus."

"I don't know anything about the previous Ares. I'd say make it your own. You don't feel anything toward it because you haven't done anything with it. You've been given a tool and the resources to use it. If forging our weapons doesn't tickle your fancy, then use it to make something you'd truly think is great."
