Valekin chuckled a bit, and let her chin go. Time was running short now, there was some black hand initiates he just had to kill. A smirk played his lips, then the opalescent smile returned. The same smile that foretold what he was about to do. She should have been able to read what he was about to do. The Serb always wore his heart on his sleeve. He was predictable in that way.
"I've never zeen zhe ocean." He commented, looking out to see. Never seeing the ocean would seem silly to most Californians. But considering the things that he has seen, that they have not; well.. he was a special case. Not everyone had the same experience he had. In fact, not many ever would.

A smirk on his lips. It had been too long since she had last seen him. Kate wouldn't be able to tell one smirk from another whether he wore his heart on his sleeve or not. But when he spoke of the ocean, her eyes darted to the water. The ocean...she loved it.
"I guess you wouldn't have. I love the ocean, love swimming in it."
Though it got salt all over you and you had to scrub it off. Kate shifted her weight, on one foot then the other. The blonde watched the waves, the sound of it calming her. The ocean just had that effect on her. Thus, why she had come here in the first place to relax.

With her facing the ocean. He made his exit, silently, and without a word. But this time, she'd know he was still there. Still within contact. she'd hear the engine of his Corvette in the distance as he sped away from the beach towards the factory where he lived. He needed to grab a few things before he attacked. Much was on his mind.
The youngest Kaluskov, Katya, dying in his arms.
Nicholai's sneer before Valekin plunged the Talon into the man's heart...
Maria's scream as he tortured her for information...
He just wanted it to end.
Really, there were two that had survived. Faustus, and Mishka. The Serb had lost track of Faustus a long time ago, but Mishka wasn't as careful as she thought she was. She had led him here, to California. He wished he had arrived in time to save his sisters though. He regretted taking his time to torture Maria for information. They might have survived otherwise. Everything was all his fault.
