A New Dawn Rises (Spike and Eve)

The dawn of their first day in 244 would be greeted by the sound of Mathew banging two pots together to wake up Spike and Eve.  War was on the horizon and he'd not have his daughter unprepared, and if Spike was serious about his goals then he would push him until he either quit or stopped dragging his feet and pitying himself.  He could decide which.

"I want you outside and dressed in three minutes!"

He'd bellow from downstairs.

All things considered, the bed was comfortable and warm. Evelyn flinched at the sudden interruption, burying her face in her pillow as the clamor continued, not bothering to muffle a groan that would be drowned out by the ruckus. Curling up until her knees touched her forehead, her eyes shot wide open at the sound of her father's voice bellowing out instructions.

Three minutes and less now. She knew he wasn't joking; she'd learned that one when she was younger. In an instant, the covers were off as the redhead tripped and stumbled out of bed in a rush, grabbing the first pieces of clothing that would do and running her fingers through her hair to pull it up into a bun.

Definitely not what she expected on their first morning.

Spike was awake, balancing on a nail with just his energy, using his left hand he had placed his index finger and thumb on it projecting the energy doing a hand stand to get his balance before the only thing holding him upside down was his energy and the nail. His bandages were all off in a bowl of hot water as he concentrated. Hearing a rooster crow in the distance he figured the sun was about up. When the clanging from downstairs broke his concentration. His energy spiked and slipped off the nail, putting a hand through the floor as he fell barely avoiding the nail as his face slammed the floor.

He had folded and finally lay flat pulling his arm out he would rub the cut on his cheek from the nail which was also bruising.

"Sonova..."

Spike would use a cloth in the hot water to wash his wounds and bandage, deciding on just a pair of pants for right now carrying his shirt down with him to slip on once he figured out what was going on. His right hand still barely worked.

Mathew would be waiting for them outside tapping his feet and counting down the seconds before they both arrived. On time, good for them. They would avoid punishment for now.

"Training starts today and will continue every day until I feel you are both up to snuff. The world just got a lot more dangerous and I'm finished losing people. Today we are going to be working on your adaptability and reactions. You will do what I say when I say it. Hesitation will get you punished."

He let that hang in the air.

"Questions?"

Evelyn glanced briefly at Spike when they were both present and accounted for noting his own dishevelled but less groggy appearance. She didn't say anything to the idea of losing people, listening to the instructions as they were given and already dreading whatever would be their punishment for failure. Needless to say, she didn't doubt her father's effectiveness or creativity in coming up with something that fit the crime. At least the point was clear.

"What are we starting with?"

"Tch."

Spike would get out as he slid the shirt on with slight difficulty. Mathew wanted to start training today due to something going on in the world.

"Two actually. Got rules on Qi? And what's happened in the world to make it more dangerous?"

[Mathew Amtrum]

"Combat is what we are focusing on Eve."

He'd grunt as he turned back to Spike.

"Use it if you got it, because armies as large as during the great war have been marching."

This would be interesting. Eve glanced over at Spike as her father mentioned combat, weighing him again before her attention returned to the conversation. He had more extreme training, by the sound, but she refused to let the idea show that she might not be able to match, especially with the talk of war already on the horizon, and on people's doors.

Still, it made her pause. Stories of the Great War weren't foreign to her, and the numbers mean that great forcers were moving. It made sense, when War was riding out. She shifted her weight slightly.

"When did they start this time?"

Spike's face got a bit more serious at the mention of forces as large as the Great War marching around. He used his left hand to grab his right fore arm where his Dragon Core tattoo was. He nodded understanding why they needed to be ready now. The Sudeki male was not as prepared as he would of liked, his body felt weaker than it had been. He had no more questions and would allow Eve to ask Mathew what she needed to know, but he was ready to throw down.

"A few months ago. Spike was in Prota's care and you were in stasis. Both have been remedied now."

Which meant they would have to start being ready now, too. Evelyn nodded, the history lesson no longer needed for the time being.

"Alright."

Spike's body tensed for a moment before loosening up, his hands closing into fists as his feet spread slightly to give him a better center of gravity. His eye focusing on Mathew as a grin crossed his face. He was ready to fight, he knew the target, he knew the game. Thats all he usually needed, and who better than a Dragon to get back into shape against.

Seriously?

The order was simple, but it was enough to make Evelyn pause for a second. She'd thought she'd be fighting against Spike rather than her father. Now Ares was literally telling them to attack him. There was probably some form of humor in there somewhere, but she missed on the chance to comment.

Despite that hesitance, there was something she knew all her life growing up: you paid attention and did what was told. Especially in training. Her pride reminded her of her weakness, how she was going to look in front of them if she didn't give it her all, and the energy constructs formed along her hand and wrists, gauntlets and a blade forming, feingting to the left with a follow up on the right.

Definitely not the training she was expecting, but there was no backing out of it. Not that she'd onsider doing so, anyway.

As Evelyn darted in first, Spike would move behind her to her left, as she feinted and went for the attack on the right side, Spike would dive roll on the left to get behind Mathew, rolling completely over and back onto his hands he would push off the ground reversing his momentum and completely reopening the stitches under his bandages, pushing with all his might to throw his right heel into a kick for Mathew's left kidney! His right leg erupting in a dark fire with black plasma bolts jumping around the foot!

Battle Strike: Spike focuses his Battle Aura into his strikes, compressing the whole aura into a dense location adding 75% of his Energy stat to his Attack stat. This lowers his Def by -3 every time he uses it. Does not have to hit to negatively impact him.
