Even with Faye and Cael pulling he is too deep to get free! He is waste deep now and... Well now that Faye mentions it, he does feel something. He can kick his legs freely from his knees down like there is another opening.

With only Cael pulling now and the over abundance of movement and stress, Lann's head and arm pop off. His body falls into the area below. Cael is holding an arm and Lann's head sits on top of the sand. Which is no longer shifting.
