There was a relatively busy diner near the coast with a few privacy booths. This was a location decided as the spot to have their little important meetings. A man sat at a booth wearing army fatigue pants, black boots and a long sleeve turtleneck. He kept a ball cap and shades on his face only revealing shoulder length brown hair.
He hadn't ordered anything beyond coffee just yet, he was waiting for his guest.

Despite her sluggish nature, Faye arrives almost exactly on time. Minus the time it takes her to find the booth...But that's only because she's a bit of a turtle. She didn't exactly have to look hard to find the most suspicious- in her opinion- looking person here.
So Faye casually takes a seat, giving him a nod.
"Greetings."

The man smiles and nods.
"Please, sit. Do you require sustenance?"

"A drink should be sufficient."
If she tries talking while she's eating, they'll be here all night.

"Very well."
He ordered a drink for her as well. But would move the subject along
"How is this life? Are you adapting? Any issues?"

"My teammates say I require better social skills." she says. Admittedly they're probably very right. She's made progress, though.
"No issues so far. My own short-comings have been made clearer, I am working to fix it."
Valerian may have had a simple way of seeing things, but he did make a case for the fact she couldn't necessarily survive on supportive abilities alone.
"Also magic is stupid."
That's just personal feelings.

"Adaptation is important. We don't have Field Agents like before so I'm relying on you."
He would drink some coffee and cough sneering at it's flavor. Shitty diner coffee as it was.
"How is Subject Three coming along?"

She watches his expression, looking down at her own drink in disdain.
Well now she doesn’t want it.
She gives a few nods, taking a pause at mention of dear little 3.
“Not living up to their potential.” She says frankly. “It’s like they only know fear. I’ve tried the addition of stressors to bring them to a point of desperation but even then....”
She looks up at him.
“There seems to be no interest in their Qi. Or no real skill with them. On the occasion their selflessness spurs them into action, it’s usually with their own physical strength.”
She taps a finger on the table.
“Ah, and it seems they have an emotional connection to their ability to make it rain so it rains often.”

"Hmm, that is an odd outcome considering things..."
The man drank some more coffee and thought on it.
"Do you have any suggestions? Termination?"

She considers it.
"It may be too soon to give up." she says, though she really doesn't have much of an idea on how to...speed things up.
"There has been some progress, I should not let the failures overshadow it. They have been gaining strange mixes of powers. The most recent ability: to detach and reattach their limbs. They have been able to use this ability in unique and successful ways, despite feeling terror from it. That is a good sign, is it not?"
As for a suggestion...she'd wait to see if he felt that amount of progress was acceptable.

Mr. E thinks about it.
"So the power is manifesting. It was only a theory that it was part of the bloodline, but recreating Subject 0 may take more than we can comfortably perform in the open..."
He would scratch his chin as he thought on it.
"This is acceptable progress however. Subject 0 took three years to reach a potential of note worth."

That was good to hear. One way or another, she took some measure of responsibility for Subject 3. She did want success for them, whether or not it was for more selfish reasons.
"I have two theories. My torment has been too gentle...and like a rabbit, Subject 3 may need to feel cornered before they will hopefully lash out."
Either that or they just accept their fate. Which would be the unfortunate result.
"Or. Perhaps continuing with a nurturing approach will see them blossom."

"As with Subject 0, 1, and 2 we used torment. Though that lead to certain instabilities with the mind. Though partially attributed to the abilities they obtained."
He would lean back and spin the mug with his hands.
"Try supporting his normal nature and try and instill in him a new sense of motivation. Try slow introduction."

"So. A switch to a kinder approach?"
Just making sure she's getting this right.
If so, she hopes it doesn't come off as too weird that she's suddenly not insulting them left and right.

"Well a mix of kinder... And some chemical assisstance."
Mr. E would reach into his jacket and pass her three vials of powder.
"Mix with some of your medicines when he needs them or if you get him something to drink. One at a time lest we mix them in his body by accident."
