As rare and brief as the flash of emerald light as the great star retreats from the sky, Triton was far from the waters he loved so dearly. At this hour, he decided he would develop his skill as a warrior, and many times, it is best to do so upon the land; in truth, this was where most combat occurred. Beneath the sea and within its depths, the islander new quite well how to engage in battle. Above its level though, where one can not leave the surface with ease, where leaves rode the wind rather than fish riding the current, Triton was not well versed in the dynamics of combat.
With thrusts of his scaled fists, the islander would be striking beings of hay, lacking life of any sort. An army of them surrounded him; three to his right, and two to his left, in addition to the one he faced. After several strikes to one, he changed to another, and then to the next. Hay and the dust that came from it drifted through the air, like disturbed sand at the ocean's floor.
A structure of man's stone surrounded him; it held the air in its place, taking its freedom to roam about with the wind outside. The structure itself was not of great strength. Indeed, it had the appearance of one that was hidden beneath the sea for many days. Vines clung to it like lampreys to a shark, almost as if the living emerald fabric held the vitality of the very rock it clung to captive. Within the barren room Triton now fruitlessly fought, there were several piles of man's stone, metal protruding from it, from where the roof above had fallen to earth's pull. Daylight was the only light that offered its illumination to the room, sneaking its way through the cavities of the walls that were once glass panes to gaze out of.
With each strike, the sound flew, leaping from wall to wall, until it was absorbed by the earth the blue feet shuffled through, or until it bounded out through the once windowed spaces to the sparse shrubbery that surrounded the ancient edifice.

Within his view flashes of day light would catch his eye and call his attention.
Rhona would be trying to expend some amount of her energy here before heading off to bed.

Like a swift thief in the night, though it was now sunset and not night, flashes of light held Triton's heed for ransom, and the price was to find the light's source.
With cautious steps, Triton approached the flashes. What met his eyes was a woman; adorning her was hair that took its shine from the center of the mighty sun. A small character was she, the apex of her height reaching only to the bottom of his chest so far as he could see. Covered in scars, she seemed a great warrior. A foe may not be intimidated by her body with first glance, but the power she displayed before him and the history told by her marks spoke of a woman to be feared.
"Greetings, mainlander!" he called out, praying his salutations made him a friend, and not enemy.

She landed into a stance that was brought to ruin as she was slightly startled by the sudden voice. She took a moment, a quick one to catch herself. As if she had snapped out of a daze she noticed somethings were different about the place, darker, had she been out there longer than she realized.
"Greetings..." She looked at him as if only just now recognizing him as one of the many Cabal attendees. "... You are Triton right?"

Perplexity entered Triton's mind, and the mind expressed it through his visage. Had this woman crossed his path before? Surely he would have remembered such a figure.
"I beg of you pardon, madam," he spoke as his steps brought him within the length of the Great Shark to her. "Have I met your acquaintance before?"

She shook her head in disagreement but a smile was growing on her face a carefree expression replaced her exhausted one even if she was still glimmering with sweat.
Hands on her hips she would clear up her knowing him. "Your Qi is a unique thing, sometimes people talk more about others than they should. True too, some say you are a child of Poseidon or a relative of some sort. I, being someone who wants to be a God, had set my gaze on the seat of Apollo... until recently at least." her smile faded slightly. What she was once proud to say isn't very accurate anymore. Or at least she wasn't sure if it was.

Whispers floated amongst those from the academy as glass bottles float in the sea, ferrying a message speaking of the blue scaled islander, it seemed. How curious.
"They are right to call me the son of Poseidon!" he declared with pride grand. "Those who fed and taught me were indeed human, but I came from the sea itself, Poseidon's dwelling. But you! You seek to challenge a God? As merely mortal?" Triton could not decide whether such a bold goal was daft, mad, or brave. Though, she had come to choose not to face him, she still wished to challenge him at all.

"Why yes, Gods are but mortals risen above their birthrights through Strength and Valor in this land. Gods they have become and many seats are either empty from some who have faced defeat or have never come to claim the title." she patted her chest. "I was born at the base of Mount Olympus, in my home the rule of gods was within view right out our very windows every sunrise and sunsets. Many dreamed of claiming their Glory at the top. Including myself, though I have had the eyes of Gods view my light... I fear I have but disappointed them for I have not been strong enough to control my actions or determined enough to stand up to my leaders."
"Would you as a Son of a God, not live and breathe your birthright's meaning and possibly become Poseidon himself?" She shrugged. " As I harness the power of the sun, I've come to realize that does not give me an upper hand to claim any right to the name Apollo if I do not represent the meaning."

Perplexed was Triton at the small woman's strange philosophy.
"I am not meant to take Poseidon's throne. Poseidon is my father, and may He reign for ages. Should He call upon me to be by His side, I will obey with full heart. But until that day, I seek to fulfill no other duty than that of abiding with mainlanders and teaching them to care for the water and the creatures that call it home."

"Oh sure I would not mean for you to take it by force he is your father after all." she shrugged. "But if the day comes he no longer can, even if we pray it dont. If I were you I'd prepare my life for that day. Unless you chose another path entirely of course, just means someone else will take up the mantle instead. With that I hope it would be one who'd care for the waters as equally as he or you may."

Such a notion was one Triton knew not well, an account he never considered to be one to be told in a future that had yet to show face.
"What sort of deathly fate could befell the God of the seas? the Creator of the waters and Commander of the deep?"
His blue scaled visage expressed his unforeseen conception of a truth that planted in his mind's soils a seed of fear.

"History has many gods who have fallen and have met an end for the next one to raise. With responsibilities like controlling the sea and the sun, someone needs to take their place, and someone who would be found worthy will eventually do just that. Mathew Amtrum, Earth Dragon, and Aries, received the title by raising to meet the God of War and sending him six feet under. Becoming the new Aries, God of War by sheer brute force." This was just a fact. "Its a matter of when... not what. That is because... Gods are men given the right, responsibility, or even the blessing to be a God in the end.

There was much to ponder once her words had finished their flow.
"Do you think me worthy of Poseidon's throne?" he inquired simply.

"I have no right to gauge your worth as his successor. But I can offer you a moment to gauge yourself!" she got a little excited as she got into a fighting stance.
"Lets not waste this space. If we are woven into the fabric of the fates to meet today...maybe there was a reason unknown to you and I." she waved two fingers from her right fist beckoning the son of the seas to a challenge.

A great smile wore Triton as this suggestion came forth from her lips. "My heart would be gladdened!" He replied, readying himself.
A thought suddenly struck him as lightning, leaving his zealous spirit to await the answer: "Halt, if I may ask it. Forgive me, shall my memory mislead me, but I do not recall your name?"
