As usual, Faye seems to be able to locate Lann no matter where he's ended up.
She was breathing heavily, obviously not used to all the exercise she was giving herself in running form. It was a rare moment, but, she knew the extent of loss Lann had just experienced. He was someone who was worried about being in Cabal in the first place. Someone who always seemed to want to go 'home'...to go see his er...'parents'. Regardless of what she knew, its what Lann knew that mattered.
She would sit there breathlessly in front of Lann, unsure of what to say right away. This stuff wasn't something she was good at.
"Lann."
That's as good a start as any.

Lann doesn't answer.
At this point, his tears have finally stopped, but he's still curled into a ball on the road he was traveling. He's dirty, and barely moving, and his eyes just stare straight ahead, unfocused.

She sighs through her nose, stepping closer slowly, and then just sitting next to him on the road.
For a few seconds she just lets him get used to her presence being there, also somewhat just buying herself some time to figure out what could be done. It's not like she could just say everything would be okay.
"Lann." she tries again after a few moments.

Lann lets out a long, heavy sigh when she sits next to him, like he's letting out a breath he didn't know he was holding.
He doesn't look at her, but the rapid blinking suggests he's coming out of whatever daze he was in.
"...they're all gone."

"Yes."
She wasn't going to pretend like it wasn't the truth. She wasn't going to plant any seeds of hope that perhaps his parents had made it in some way. Possible? Yes? Likely? No.
"I cannot pretend to fathom your grief."
Even though he seemed more in a state of shock at the moment. Perfectly normal.

"...everything, since I've come here, has felt like a horrible dream."
He says softly, looking downwards at the ground.
"Even if they never thought I'd be anything... my parents still loved me. Things here... keep changing me. I'm not... the same person I was before."
Lann closes his eyes.
"Maybe I died already, and this is my hell."

Hm. That was a deeper spiral than she thought.
Not to dismiss his feeling however, she would focus on keeping him talking.
"Have things only been unpleasant for you?"

"...mostly."
He admits.
"I've been scared... I've been hurt. I've had to hurt others."
He glances over towards her.
"The only good things I've found so far are you and Cael."

She tries to hide her surprise at being included...all things considered. It was flattering, but this wasn't the time to think about herself.
If anything, it made her realize that she owed Lann something long overdue.
"I'm sorry, Lann."
Despite it being a perfectly normal thing to tell someone who's going through a hell, there was something about the way she said it that seemed to imply it was about more than just what he was going through right now.

If Lann notices, he doesn't show it.
"I know."
He looks down at the ground again.
"...me too."

Lann frowns.
"I don't do much to be helpful. I've been afraid for so long."

Again. Unexpected. But interesting.
"There is nothing wrong with being afraid." Faye says simply. "I have been difficult on you to try and push you forward. I realize that perhaps this is something you need to figure out for yourself. The distress I have put you through has not made you any less fearful."
Frustrating as it may be. Sure she tried being nicer for a time, and that barely did anything either. Maybe she misunderstood what encouragement was supposed to do. Maybe it wasn't supposed to be a quick miracle cure, but, something that provided positivity and slowly but surely he'd grow on his own...
She'd been impatient.
"Lann. What is it you want in life? Do you want to be a brave person who fights for others? Is that even something you ever wanted?"

"I never... really had a big plan."
He admits, shrugging a little.
"I wanted to take over the shop from my dad, at some point, after helping him run it for a while. I liked the quiet life. People knew me, and I knew them."
He loved the familiarity of it.
"It's not that I don't like helping people. I do. I just... never thought about having to fight for them to do it."

"You will have to think of what you want, now." She says, not making it sound like he needs to hurry but, that it's likely an important step in his life.
He can't take over his father's shop now. Does he want to start his own? Or...
"Someone is responsible for what happened. What are you feeling about that?"
