The size of the boat doesn't matter in the fact they were the only two getting into it that much Rhona was slightly relieved about.
"You say this was your husband's legacy? What was his line of work when he lived?" She wanted to make casual conversation while the ventured.

The old woman would waddle back and fourth prepping the boat to go.
"He was a fisherman. One of the best in these parts..."
She seemed to grow sad at that last statement...

"I lost my parents a while ago... they died fighting for their home." She shoved her hands in the pockets of her coat sharing this moment. "I do what I do for their legacy too... Or at least I try to, I fear that right now they and the gods that it's not yet enough."
From head to toe, she is lined with scars big and small viewed easily form her short shirt and shorts. All of them decorating her sun-kissed skin with pale slashes and stabs new and old.

The old woman patted Rhona on the leg in sympathetic understanding.
"Just remember, you are young. Right now you think you know what you need in life and believe that since you don't have you are a failure... but again, you are young. Therefore you are dumb. What seems important in this moment will barely be a faint memory by the time your my age dear. So, don't give up. Just keep going and you'll end up where you're supposed to be."
She continued to ready the boat.
"I hope that is what happened for my husband anyways..."

"Oi, that was beautiful and inspirational, then suddenly calling me young and dumb... brutal ma'am." she chuckled but only for a moment. A question came to mind and a bit of concern piqued her interest. "Any reason why you'd think your husband didn't end up where he was "supposed" to be?"

The old lady would chuckle again.
"Just another thing you'll get with Age! Sass!"
She would have a good ol' laugh until Rhona asked her question. Which was rewarded with a deep and heavy sigh.
"Well... You see, I'm concerned cause... I don't know what happened to him. One day, he left to go fishing. Like he normally did. We said our good byes... and then when I came to greet him at the docks on the day of his return, as I usually do... his boat floated back... without it's captain. And nothing to suggest where my husband may have gone. Its just like he... disappeared."

Rhona got serious for that moment. "How long ago was this?"

"Almost two years ago now. That's why I'm making these trips, like this one today. It's either I find a way to make a living with my husband's old boat. Or I would have to sell this old thing. She's even older than I am... and I just can't bring myself to get rid of her. She survived two wars. I'd hate to sell her to someone that would just use her as scrap and parts."

"In your shoes... I'd do the same." She brushed back her mass of golden blond hair and showed her earings. "All I have left are my Mother's pearls and even while I fight... I have not gone a day without them close by."
"is it a regular occurrence people just... go missing?"

The woman admired Rhona's earrings. Even whistled at them. Then she would shrug her shoulders to Rhona's question.
"Eh... yes and no. People get lost at sea all the time. But people disappearing while their boats return to dock? That's... not a typical thing that happens, no. But, it has happened a total of 3 times in the past two years."

"You've kept track then..?" Rhona nodded thinking that was good she had a keen eye. She looked out to the sea with a slight bit of suspicion. "Your husband didn't frequent that island you said was dangerous did he?"

The old woman shrugged.
"I honestly don't know. We all only just recently heard about it. Apparently there were survivors on that Island and they only recently got in touch with us. Strange folks, but they seem alright. They are actually the ones that set up whatever was going on at the docks earlier. I heard people talking about a cruise, but aside from a ship I had never seen before there was nothing new here, and that ship hardly qualified for a cruise. If you ask me that is."

"Yeah... must have been a thousand people in line before me and yet... they had fit so many even after that. I don't even think I am exaggerating honestly" She cupped her chin between her finger and her thumb. I might not be an expert on ships but even two hundred people might have been too much for the size of that ship. she tried to make sense of it all and imagining people being packed like sardines and shipped out to sea didn't sound like a relaxing cruise. "Do they adorn bones in their headdresses and clothes?"

The woman thought about that for a moment.
"Well, they did seem very tribal... but I don't think I've seen any with bones that I can remember..."

So then the one that whispered to her might not be one of theirs. And the one with the smell... that was interesting...
"Well, I hope it is just the sea who have accepted them and lead them to where they are supposed to be and not something foul."
She was now anxious to see what the ocean might have for her.
