Smiling as he sat beside her and explained that he would usually be doing other things but for the sake of learning he would show it later she nodded softly in understanding and simply watched the furnace with keen eyes.
"I guess I should explain the various types. I'm betting you know the huge difference between a display sword, and one that's intended for practical use, right? Well I guess you need to understand this, but what do you think a production line sword is?" he said catching her attention once more, and turning her head to think for a moment she thought to herself. Sure she knew the difference but was that only the difference or well was there more depth to it?
"well... a Production line sord is one thats had / has many other swords made in the same style and form as itself isn't it?" she questioned her own answer as she looked at him with her coal covered face as it was slowly becoming worse each time she touched her face almost making her look as if she had done a hard days work already.

Yare yare...
Her blackened face was amusing, but at this time of day it wasn't appropriate. Heck, she seemed to be the African American kind when she was supposed to be Asian - but that mattered little now, for when they were going to have a break and have breakfast, she'd be nice and clean. He would make sure of it.
"Well... yeah, to that effect."
He thought on it more as if searching for a dictionary definition.
"Basically, it's a sort of 'default' for its kind, and it lives up to certain standards. For example, a nodachi might need to be two metres exact with a curve of 40 degrees. Of course, trying to remember all that isn't the best of ideas... you'll just get confused with numbers. So, most workshops - if they're equipped for it, that is - will have templates for them. We've got quite a few here as you'd imagine."
Hopefully she understood it by now but... well, he needed to get clever about it.
"Hmm. Alright, you know the difference between a decorative katana and a practical one... but what is the difference to us, as the people who work on it?"
He had already told her the difference between custom types and production types... hopefully she would put two and two together...

She nodded as he spoke listening intently to his words still taking it in as best she could as it were a far more refined answer than what she had given, offering a last nod with a smile she giggled lightly. 'Sounds simple enough, though I really.. well I wanna make my sword eventually or meh, at least the real thing that be so awesome' she told herself with a slight psych she smiled.
"Hmm. Alright, you know the difference between a decorative katana and a practical one... but what is the difference to us, as the people who work on it?" Sitting up straight she took a deep breath, "hmmm well.. the difference to us.. that would be we have to put less work into the actual functionality of the sword for a decorative as all that matters is the appearance right? means less work" she giggled to herself with a beaming smile. Her feet scraped the floor gently as her legs swung back and forth as they waited and she started lightly humming to herself contently.

He half-grinned to himself, putting together an answer in his mind. In short, it really didn't matter when it came decorative swords - they didn't need to cleave through all sorts of matter or impress people... just... impress idiots and that was fine enough.
"For the most part yeah. Sorry to disappoint you, but I guess it's best this way... I'll try to get you production functional katanas next time. Oh..."
He looked back over to the furnace and walked to it - using the tongs he dragged it out onto an elevated anvil that brought it nearly waist-high. Using the same tongues he quickly placed another cube of iron in.
"Alright. Get a hammer and try beating this one in."

She nodded with a hidden joy of looking forward to making her first functioning blade next time and she watched from her seated position as he took the block of iron from the furnace with the tongs and prepared the working space.
"Alright. Get a hammer and try beating this one in." for a moment she stood and looked confused at him blinking innocently as she looked between the iron, the tools and the guy. "Beat it in? what do you mean by that?" she said looking blankly at the objects with no clue what so ever to do though standing up finally she took one of the hammers in hand and seemed to ready it like a baseball bat. "You mean just hit it flat right?" she said as she seemed to ready her body for an almighty slug down upon the poor heated metal.

"Uh, yeah sure."
He had forgotten to be more precise when mentioning it to her... after all, she was quite new, and she wouldn't of understood how to do it unless he specifically stated how and why... and even needed him to show her. But he figured... why not? It was best for her to find out what she could do - and besides, it beats cutting up piece of coal. As important as such a job is - such things were just tedious work unless you were doing a custom job.
You know, he might just regret ever asking her to do it. Who knows?

Giving a light giggle her arms raised up as she held the hammer in the air for but a brief moment before bringing it down hard upon the block of metal. The initial impact caused a strange affect in the metal with the force she had hit it with, like dropping a stone into water the weight of the hammer became embedded in the center of the peice of iron and the material seemed to ripple... deeply, the vibration from the hit destabilized the chuck of metal causing there to be thick waves in its surface forming what might look like a bit of a target, not destroying the material beyond usage but putting a pretty impressive wave effect into it.
At that exact time as the wave's formed her eyes widened, the vibration from such a heavy impact running right through her body shook her horribly her wrists almost instantly became minorly sprained though it were more just the static sting from the impact than a sprain, her body shook as it was rattled with the recoiling force causing her to fall backwards to the ground in a somewhat of a stunned and phased fashion.
"O-o-ow....." she managed to gitter out as she was still in a phased state of being stunned that she could barely speak a slight tear welling up in her eyes as her hands and wrists went an evil red with the stinging pain and she bit her lip almost to the point of bleeding to stop herself from crying.

Oooh, shit...
"You alright?"
He let out a small chuckle - he knew it would of hurt, but otherwise she would have been fine. Had they been dealing with steel, however... now she would of had problems. But it was a good thing Karel was keeping the lump in place with the tongs, else it might have gone flying and burned into one of the benches... that was no fun.
"Haha, come here."
He was gesturing for her to take his position. She was smaller than him, and he could easily shadow her if need be - and for this, he would probably need to. With his left arm holding the tongs that clamped down on the hunk of iron, his right hand gestured her over. Come hither, sweetie.

It was a bit of a boring day as Mutziko had wandered off somewhere and hadn't so much as left a word to Kasumi, but she had other business anyways, unfinished business rather. For shortly before she took her extended vacation she had sought something, had contracted someone for something, yet had never received the finish product.
Perhaps it was her own fault for having left but never the less she had ever intention of getting that product which she had desire, little did she know the workshop which she was walking into.
It was just like she remembered and exactly remembered where it had been from the first early morning that she had stepped through the doors and requested the sword, just as she would do again as her hands easily pushed the door aside and she stepped into the workshop. She could hear noises not far away, the sounds of the workings and of people talking just vaguely hitting her ears as the bustle of the city outside was silenced by the door closing.
Even at this early hour things were busy and her hand came up, hitting a little near by bell. She knew who ran this shop, and if memory served her right he'd stll be the one running it.

Sniffing lightly as she heald her red hands together she slowly stood up carefully rubbing her hands as they began to return to there normal skin color though the sting still remained she grit her teeth and faught it out.
"You alright?" "eh... mhhh I-I'm fine" she grunted through the stinging pain nodding her head slightly as she tried to fight back the tears and subside the pain as best she could though was resonably happy about the dent she made in the metal it was no where near worth the pain of the means.
"Haha, come here." Blinking slightly having recovered a little she slowly nodded and made her way over to him, finally releasing her wrists from her hands and stood in front of him, taking over the tongs though with both hands in exchange with her hammer, holding it tightly to prevent it from moving she closed her eyes and hoped this wouldnt hurt as much as her previous task which she so simply failed at.
"T-this alright?" she said quietly as she heald the tongs tightly gripping the hot metal even tigheter. Hearing the bell her ears suddenly perked up and her head turned to face the entrance as she kept a tight hold still on the tongs, "Someones in the shop?" she exclaimed in a slight confusion, it wasnt often people would make an arrival this early or well, so she thought.

Her thoughts were right. Seriously, open before 6? Not likely, but that's how he ran things... not enough people would come in before 9, but ... again, that was the way of things. Having heard the door bell, he took it as second priority as his left hand was over Mutziko's, holding firmly yet lightly on to the tongs, his right arm came around as he sort of hugged her to hold on to the fairly large yet flat hammer, he brought it to the opposite edge of the tongs and guided her into solid strikes - flat, and steady yet stable enough for her no doubt fragile wrists to handle.
Now, their height difference wasn't dramatic... and with him directly behind her he couldn't help but brush his mouth against her ear as he rushed to say it.
"Try that. I'll get the door."[/i]
He would leave her to try it on her own, as he himself rushed over to the front, opening the door.
"Oh, you?"

"Oh me." Kasumi retorted as her eyebrow arched, using her body to her advantage as she ducked in almost sideways past Karel and into the shop her hands tucked away in the pockets of the jeans that she had been so carefully wearing this day, giving a slight yawn her head craned from side to side checking out the shop.
She'd come by before at almost this exact time now that she thought about it, funny how things turned out. Regardless of the past and regardless of whateve he might have thought she had come back to finish what she had started not-so-long ago.
Her head tilted sideways, looking back over toward him with one eye closed. To others this would seem like an insane hour, no doubt they would be tired, but to Kasumi it was a normal time of day before anyone else got in the damn well "I want it."

Her body gave a light shivver as his mouth brushed against her ear and waiting for him to answer the door she gave out a light say from the tension of being so close to him, "uh... oh right" she told herself, her hands grasping at both the hammer and tongs she slowly at first began to hammer the metal, noticing small changes with each strike as the metal began to get flatter as well as longer with each hit, working out every hit moved the metal in the direction she wanted depending on the stroke style strikes she used she quickly got the hang of it. Pressing the metal flatter and flatter with every hit she began to sweat lightly from the heat of the metal and the physical work of using the hammer and tongs but none the less she continued with upmost concerntration, leant over the material as the sounds of her hammer could be heard through-out the shop.
Not hearing much of the person at the door as it seemed not much was said her ears suddenly picked up to the sound of her sisters voice... as well as the words that were used. "I want it." With her fascination and over excentric love for her sister these words automatically hit the worst in her mind and her hammer began to get slower and slower as she slowly began easedropping on there conversation between strikes hoping that her sister... wasn't emplying what her thoughts had made out of such a comment.

"If it's sex you're after, you'll need to wait. I'm currently trying to teach another and after that I have another order to work through. Look, if you want it so badly then hang around, alright?"
He wouldn't wait for her answer. If she wanted to come on in and watch - she could. He wouldn't argue until she got in his way or made his job harder... but now he was more so worried that the other missy had split the iron completely and... well, rendered it unusable.
As he peered into the doorway however, he found that Mutziko was practically listening on in as he noted the echoes becoming less frequent.
"Oh, starting to take shape, huh?"
He quickly resumed his place behind her to help even it out. And once again, his mouth was forced to be close to her ears.
"Good work so far. Just be careful not to attack the middle too much - or the block itself will split."

"If it's sex you're after, you'll need to wait. I'm currently trying to teach another and after that I have another order to work through. Look, if you want it so badly then hang around, alright?" She twitched lightly about the comment as it consolled to a sore spot, the thought of anyone other than herself getting her sister in that way... well was that really what her sister had asked for? her heart dropped slightly as the hammering slowly became non existant as she eventually halted listening in though caught seriously off guard as he stick his head in to take a look her head picked up in a panic and she almsost fumbled the metal and the hammer in one big mistake but managed to keep a hold of it. Nodding lightly with a slight blush from being caught easedropping of the highest degree she quickly resumed hammering the metal expecting him to stay out the front and speak with her sister she gave out a malformed sigh as she felt his arm pass around her again forming a light squeak at the end of her sigh as he was suddenly so unexpectidly close to her again, her body shivvering again on contact between his mouth and her ear, capable of feeling each of his breaths it was that close she took a deep breath.
"Good work so far. Just be careful not to attack the middle too much - or the block itself will split." "uh.. y-yes ok" she nodded before hammering around the outsides of the metal and trying to distrubute her strikes equally. with the thoughts of what her sister may have been implying fading from her mind as she became consumed by her work once again paying close attention to the strokes in her strikes and there positioning forgetting about near enough all else.
