A Mage's Counsel (Mages/Open)

[Sectos Barker]

Sectos eyes widen and he tilts his head hard as Preston is thrown back by whatever just happened. He himself grabs the crystal and turns to go and check on Preston as well.

"Hey, hey, hey. Do you need healing? Everything working right? What happened, what did you see?"

[Preston Salabim]

Sectos has no problem grabbing the Crystal!

Preston would recoil from Alison. His grip loosening on his chest.

"Don't touch me." He hissed defensively, his body trembling with effort as he picked himself up to stand on his own two feet. He did not need either of their help. "I'm fine." He'd confirm, even more defensively as his heart calmed itself, leaving a dull ache in his chest as he brushed himself off.

"The mana in the crystal violently reacted to my touch. Nothing more."

Ali's shoulders tensed at his hissing, sitting more upright and returning to her seat.

"Of course." She couldn't believed she'd offered in the first place other than, you know, needing to cater to nobility. But if the noble was able to lose his composure in the first place, he wasn't. She wasn't one to tell him how to regain his dignity.

"Why would it do that?" She frowned, gesturing for sectos to hand her the crystal if he wanted. "A binding?"

Sectos thought about it.

"I'd rather not test the crystal by having random people handling it at this point."

He ignored Preston's display in an attempt to help him regain himself without eyes on him.

[Preston Salabim]

"Most likely."

He'd say, adjusting his glasses and smoothing his clothes to make himself look more presentable. Trying to act like nothing had happened.

"It would be best to proceed with caution with the crystal until we understand what exactly it is. And why it is bound to Sectos."

Ali was fine with pretending Preston didn't have a moment and nodded, instead, as she turned her focus to Sectos with her question.

"You mentioned...rewiring the crystal?"

[Sectos Barker]

"Well I have no idea it's original purpose, and I don't specifically remember what it was on display for. All I knew was there was a large crystal display and a bunch of crystals I could use. So I forced my energy through it and created new pathways and veins to make it do what I wanted it to."

Sectos would shrug at that point.

"Was an act of desperation to be sure."

[Preston Salabim]

"Are you sure you rewrote it?"

Since Sectos stated he didn't know what it was for in the first place.

[Allison Kazim]

Ali considers the explanation, but doesn't find fault with it. Like Preston, she was just worried Sectos only thought he rewrote it, or part of it.

[Sectos Barker]

"Hmmm, I'm fairly certain I added new veins."

Sectos would fold his hands and think hard about what he remembered.

"I was being pelted by exploding crystals at the time. So I can't say with one hundred percent certainty."
