Ray had to be honest, and his delivery was pretty standard vocalization, but it was slow near the end. Val knew that as a signal of regret. He didn't like having to say it.

He was insistent on keeping Valerian safe even if he did say he was fine. So he continued to follow Val.

Ray would look away in his own way by looking passed Val. He was a servant guardsman instilled with never looking away from someone in case of an order.
"Observation, sir. Project Judgement has judged Zekunft's nobility as doing something incredibly heinous. Why surface now? Why attack an outlying Zekunft nobility? How much of Zekunft do you truly understand, or are aware of? Or is it all skirts and booze? I know you care for your people. Who do you consider your people?"

Most people would take offence to that kind of talk, but not Val. He knows full well how he is.

Ray would pause remaining emotionless in the face, but his hesitation would speak volumes enough.
"With the level of involvement and research she has been in with correspondence trying to learn about the experiments of old and current... She has likely relocated to a border territory. Other than that I can not say for sure. Lady Riddel would have more information."

She's writing letters at the moment, mostly to her friends and family back home. Looking up at the sound of footsteps, she gave a brief, polite smile at the sight of Val that quickly faded with the look on his face.
