Donovan would blink.

"Why were you in a hole in the ground?"

He would ask completely steam rolling over everything else that was said.

Mal wanted to lie, everything in his body was screaming for him not to answer.

What if I gave him part of the answer, would that be enough to dissuade him?

"I have been in a prison of sorts for a time. Now... About Cabal..."

[Donovan]

"Prison? Are you a criminal?!"

Donovan would start to take a defensive stance.

"Why are you so eager to return to Cabal. Criminal."

A prison of sorts, damnit this man is thick, oh well

"I'm no criminal! If you must know my father was a evil son of a bitch and kept me hidden away in a place I could not escape." Saying the words made Mal feel physically exhausted.

[Donovan]

Donovan's hand slowly dropped to his sword.

"I have no knowledge of who your father is, all I know is that you have claimed to be a criminal and are trying to gain passage to my home."

Mal was frantic at this point.

"Look man, I'm not a criminal! I was using the term 'prison' as an encompassing term to incorp...." Mal hesitated, if this man was this thick, he needed to start using smaller words. "My father locked me away to be cruel, I used the word prison because that's what it felt like, nothing more" Mal said in a more calm and even tone.

[Donovan]

Donovan's hand dropped away from his sword and he stood straight again.

"Ah, yes, that I understand. Apologies for the misunderstanding. I, too, was a prisoner of that sort when I was younger. Though by my entire home land."

He nodded.

"So, why is it you wish to go to Cabal?"

[Malcomb Warhazzard]

"Well, you're the first person i've come across and that's the only place you know of. You see... I have a powerful need to eat, so I'm guessing I'll need to find work of some sort, mostly to pay for food, perhaps a place of education, who knows?" Mal shrugged. "I'm no skilled hunter, I'm not even sure what there is to hunt around here anyway..."

Donovan reached into his pocket and pulled out a small package and offered it to Mal. If he took it, he would find the contents was dried meat.

"Fair points. Then I suggest you follow me. Cabal is a good place to learn and grow."
