The cool breeze slowly moved Sara's hair as she dropped down onto the sand, laying her t-shirt and towel down next to her. She had thought about keeping the shirt on, but the beach was virtually empty so she was confident in sitting there in her shorts and bathing suit. It was a one piece where she would have been wearing a bikini had things not gone the way they had. Along her arms, shoulders, and upper chest, small marks, scars, were still visible, but the worst was hidden under the thin fabric of her swim suit.
She looked out at the water, and wondered, not for the first time, why the hell she had chosen to follow that idiot all the way back here. She had swore she wasn't coming back here no matter what after having made herself comfortable at 42, but finding that note in her locker had caused something in her to snap.
And she was determined to snap him for that =_="
If she could find him... Which she hadn't been able to yet... Which was part of the reason she was here at the beach. They had just been getting past everything that had happened, and then he runs off, leaving only a note for her? Oh hell no...
Her eyes ran over the familiar landscape as she remembered their fight here. She couldn't seem to recall quite when it had all started, or why things had turned out the way they had, but it was painfully obvious that this had been one of the places. So a day at the beach for both relaxation, and a chance to check this area for Matrim, was a good idea.

Matrim had been in the water, out swimming in the distance. He liked the water, a lot. He liked swimming... a lot. Except for that one time when him and Winklewood 'came together' for a 'close moment' where they 'crossed swords'... that was something he didn't want to think about. Then again, this was the school Winklewood originally taught at....
That explains why the ocean water is so salty....
And that's when Matrim could have sworn he saw her.... he started to swim back to the shore, and as he got closer he recognized her more and more. He was looking forward to seeing her again, especially since he had gotten a bit rusty and needed a good sparring partner. Sara was always an interesting person to fight.... of course, that wasn't the actual reason he was glad to see her. Hell Leon was here and he wouldn't have been so glad to see her.
I... I like her a lot.... I should just ask her....
Matrim got closer and called out, "Hey Sara!" as he swam up to the point where his feet touched sand. He stepped out onto the shore, quite a bit down the shoreline from Sara, but definitely within earshot if they called out loudly over the sound of the waves crashing in. "When did you get in town?" He called out, making his way over to her. In his mind he saw this scene of baywatch slow motion running, along with the cliche reunion thing. Of course with them they... weren't much for hugging. She'd most likely punch him if he did that.....
and boy he had no clue how mad she might have been.
Poor bastard.

Sara leaned back on her hands, relaxing as she turned her gaze up to the sky. She was losing herself in the memories. So many memories. Mostly all bad not surprisingly... Why the hell had she come back here again...? She had nothing here. No one, nothing. She left her stuff back in her apartment in San Fransisco, taking only what she needed and renting a cheap little apartment. Like... Really cheap. She hated it. She didn't know how long she was going to be here, so she would move her stuff here as she needed it. Not like she didn't have the money to do that. She probably could have gotten something better but time constraints had restricted what she could get on such short notice-
"Hey Sara!"
Her body tensed as she was slammed back into reality by the sound of the voice. Wow... She had found him faster then she thought she was going to...
She turned her head towards him and tried to control herself. So many emotions washed through her that she couldn't get a grasp on them. He was all wet, in his swim suit, coming towards her... It was him... She was going to kill him D<
Mentally she slapped herself, gritting her teeth as she pushed herself to her feet. From previous fights, she knew he was a smart guy, and she needed to try to catch him off guard. So she dusted herself off as she waited for him to reach her, avoiding looking at him.
"When did you get in town?"
"None of your business" she muttered under her breath, mentally preparing herself, pushing her feet into the sand, her hands fisting at her sides as she waited. The closer he came, not that she was watching, it was more like she could FEEL him... And she hated it... The closer he got, the less of a hold she had on her emotions. She was losing it. And then, when he was close enough, she would turn her head up to look at him, meeting his eyes. Quietly, she would speak. "Tell me. Are you... An IDIOT!?" Taking a quick step towards him she would try to slam her fist up at his chin.

Matrim could have sworn he heard a negative response to the answer, but didn't really pay too much attention as he got closer, and legitimately noticed her as she was tightening her fists. He watched and listned, "Tell me. Are you... An IDIOT!?"
And the step, and the fist.... huh, don't think she's gone for the chin before... usually it's the nose isn't it?
Matrim took the hit, his head shooting up. He could have dodged it but what was the point? She needed to get her anger out. Besides, he liked fighting with her. Maybe this could turn into something like a spar. So his left foot slid back, his head tilted back and he just took it, "Idiot? Why am I an idiot? I left, told you where I was going, at any time you could have just called me you know...."
He spoke almost straight up at the air before slamming his head down to collide with her own, putting a bit of momentum into the strike aimed at the bridge of her nose.

Sara was legitimately surprised when her fist connected with his chin. She quickly drew her arm back and cradled her hand. It had been a while since she had fought anyone, and she knew trying to take him on was probably not the brightest idea. But she was angry. At both him and herself. But her anger at herself, in her twisted mind, could also be linked back to him. Everything was his fault. And he had never done anything to make up for it. And now he had gone so far as to leave, escaping from her ever watchful eye.... Not that she had been watching >3> How the hell could she punish him for everything if he wasn't even in the same area!?
It was not the first time she wondered what the hell she saw him and why she bothered as she sucked in a breath and glared at him.
"Idiot? Why am I an idiot? I left, told you where I was going, at any time you could have just called me you know...."
.....
........
He did not just go there...
Call him?! Right... Ya... Sure. Why the hell hadn't she thought of that!? D< Take the easy way out... What about Sara said that she ever took the easy way out of anything >3>
What was even worse, was had she thought about it, she probably wouldn't have been able to work up the courage to dial his number anyways. Not that she would admit that. Stupid Matrim... STUPID STUPID MATRIM D<
And before she could punish him for that stupid remark, however smart it was, his head slammed forward. It was all she could do to brace herself and push forward slightly. This would still hurt but it would minimize the damage. As soon as he touched her, the familiar green wind flowed over her skin, and the loud boom filled the area. And we all know what happens next. He would be pushed away from her, hit with a tremendous amount of force. Her hands would move quickly to her face to support the bloodied nose, as she loudly cursed him for ever being born.

Once again Matrim's head was pushed back, and he stumbled back a step or two, his hands outstretched at his sides to get his balance back. He raised a hand up to his head, he had been a little dizzy from the blow of Qi but it was something he had been used to. Of course, Matrim had a trick up his sleeve, something she didn't know about that he could do. So without any hesitation he drew back his right fist, kicked off of his left foot, planting his right one, and as his right fist pulled back giving the impression a punch was coming, his left foot swung around aiming for her exposed ribs.
And what's worse?
Matrim's hands and feet set fire just as he performed this attack.

The combination of a bloody nose and her growing anger was not helping her ability to fight back. In her distraction, Matrim was already moving on to his next attack. She caught the flash of movement and reacted instinctively, bracing for a punch. Her arms, already in front of her face crossed in front of her, tensing for impact, but instead, her right side exploded in pain. She was knocked to the side, landing hard on her left side. She could still feel the heat from the singe of her bathing suit and she immediately reacted, brushing her hands over the area to check the damage. Oddly, she was now afraid of fire... Gee... Wonder why... =_=" Sara's eyes fell to him and through the sharp pain in her side she glared at his flaming limbs. Seriously? Was he just going to keep getting more and more powerful? This was just ridiculous now. She needed to be quick, but couldn't fight him the way she normally did. Her fear made her want to avoid close combat at all costs. Quick strikes and then back off. Her hand fisted in the sand next to her and she whipped a handful up at him face, hoping to distract him. And then she was on her feet aiming for a quick jab at his chest with her right fist. If it all went well she would quickly step back, planting her feet at waiting to see what he did next as she held her side. It wasn't that she wanted to FIGHT fight now... She just wanted him to know she was still pissed and could hold her own. That, and her anger at his STUPID qi was fueling her. Ok... Maybe she did want to fight... The hit connected knocking her down onto her side and Matrim retreated the leg quickly, placing it down. He wouldn't leave that out for her to grab, knowing just how quick she could be he didn't want her to grab one of his attacks out of the air and use it against him. Luckily she wasn't much for hardcore grappling. She made attempts at it, but her true strength is in strikes, punching/kicking/headbutting/and her Qi bursts. She liked to be more active then just grabbing onto something and turning it an awkward way, so Matrim was focusing more on her striking moves as far as blocking and defending goes.
Sara then threw sand up towards Matrim's face. Matrim quickly brought his forearm in front of his eyes to protect himself, bending his right arm at the elbow. This of course, momentarily created an opening which Sara executed on right away by jabbing Matrim in the chest. He took the hit, and as soon as it connected he slid his right foot back, turning his body to the right, and extending that right arm which had been brought across his body to protect his eyes. His hand was tightened into a fist as he put momentum and force from turning into that arm to swing it across Sara's face, aiming to have the knuckles connect with her right cheek and send her off to the side again. Matrim would follow this attack up by swinging his left fist at the same spot, aiming to have it connect just a second or two after the first one in case the first one didn't knock her down.

Matrim was faster then Sara had anticipated. Before she could get out of range, the first hit connected, sending Sara down hard onto her left side. Her hands instinctively moved to cushion her fall. She had no time to deal with the slight singe of her hair, the opportunity for the attack was a small one, and it was take it or lose it.
As Matrim threw the second punch Sara kicked up towards the back of his left knee, assuming his body would keep going with the punch and hit nothing but air. Hopefully that would bring him down on that knee. Sara would quickly bring that leg back up so that her knee was to her chest, and shoot it out with the heel sticking out to slam into Matrim's exposed ribs should he have been brought down closer to her level.
If it all went to plan she would use the momentum of kicking him in the ribs to kick off of him, pushing herself just slightly further away from him, and slightly more out of his reach, and push off her hands onto her feet. Turning quickly, she would grab onto his hair to hold him still, pulling his face downwards, and slam her left knee upwards at his face.
Again, he would hopefully be dazed enough that she could make a quick retreat away from him, just out of his reach.

Matrim's first hit connected, knocking Sara away. He still had that second punch just in case, but it ended up costing him since all he punched was air, exposing a large amount of openings to Sara, which she exploited, kicking his left knee out from under him causing him to drop onto one knee. The next was a heel to his ribs which stung like a son of a bitch. His right hand instinctively went to it, but he retreated his hand as the flames touching skin alarmed him of the dangers of that. Sure his own flames didn't hurt him, but it didn't exactly feel normal when he did it either. It was a strange sensation, flames licking you when they didn't burn you.
The third attack however, would be caught with his left hand, just before hitting his head. Matrim quickly pushed off of his right foot, twisting that leg inward for Sara, which would hopefully make her body naturally twist away from Matrim. He would then pull on the leg, his right hand going to slam against her back, effectively causing her to fall forward off of her remaining foot (hopefully).
If this worked Matrim would grab her left foot with his right hand, raise that leg up, and slam it down right on it's knee cap, putting force into the foot from above when slamming it down. The sand would cushion to some extent, but it would still be hell on the knee.

As Sara's knee flew up towards his face, his hand grabbed onto her thigh, stopping her from hitting him. She felt a flicker of fear as his burning hands grabbed her. Of balance, she let go of his hair and tried to pull from his grasp. This gave him the opening he wanted. Her leg was twisted, and without any traction, she turned easily in the sand, her back now to him.
She saw her opening and took it. She pushed off her remaining foot, twisting her body in the air to slam her right heel into the side of his head or neck. Her left hand moved down to catch herself when she fell.
As she hit the ground on her side, she would roll to her back. If he hadn't let go of her, her left leg would be twisted awkwardly, but the next attack would hopefully make him let go. Once on her back, she would quickly bring her right leg back and then slam the foot upwards at his groin. If he had already let go, this would at least make him back off so she could get to her feet again.

A kick to the head woke Matrim up. And as she tried to kick him in the junk he shot his hips back, his hands sliding down her leg to her ankle. He had enough of fighting her, so he decided to throw her, turning and lifting her weight, spinning and tossing her towards the water, if this worked he would watch her to make sure she resurfaced. After all, he cared about her a lot.... why were they fighting again?
.... Matrim ran toward the water, running into it and then swimming toward her. Making his way to where she would be (Assuming he got her in there.) He would keep a slight distance from her but mostly he was trying to get into the water with her, "Why were we fighting again?" He would ask her, deactivating his Qi and suddenly feeling a bit drained.

She had been right. Aiming a kick at his crotch did make him back off. But he didn't let go of her. She gritted her teeth against his burning hands, and prepared for what ever he was planning. She really should have seen this one coming. Being tossed around like a rag doll was really nothing new for her. It wouldn't be the first time he had done it.
He spun, pulling Sara with him, and tossed her. She let out a scream and then hit the water. It wasn't that deep, but at least she was small. She floated in stunned confusion for a moment then planted her feet on the bottom and pushed herself upwards.
She broke the surface of the water sputtering and gasping for air. She bobbed for a few moments trying to get her footing and then wiped water out of her eyes and searched for Matrim. The guys was nuts when it came to fighting. She didn't know what they were, friends or enemies, or even something else entirely, but he had always been rough with her and she honestly didn't put it past him to try to drown her. Her eyes fell to him coming towards her. Instinctively, she backed away, making no move to go near him. Trust issues much?
"Why were we fighting again?"
She was kind of shocked by the question, opening and closing her mouth as she tried to come up with an answer. She straightened as though he had insulted her. "Because... Why the hell didn't you tell me you were leaving in person?" She paused for a second, and then turned away. "You're an idiot... You really are. If you don't know, I'm not going to tell you." She started to swim for shore, making effort to stay out of his reach.

"Because... Why the hell didn't you tell me you were leaving in person? You're an idiot... You really are. If you don't know, I'm not going to tell you." She said, and started to swim for shore. Matrim would have immediately grabbed for her wrist, hoping to get it to get her attention while they were in the water so she would at least look at him. He knew he should have told her in person... and he didn't know why he hadn't just done that. At least, he didn't know for certain. He could come up with a few theories....
"I should have told you... I don't know why I didn't to tell you the truth," Matrim said, "But you're the only person I told, and I'm sorry I didn't tell you in person...."
Had I told her in person, would she have even responded. Would she have just pretended like she didn't care... would she have attacked me for leaving the school out of nowhere and leaving her there.... what is she to me? My partner? My friend? Someone I fight a lot? What do I want her to be.....
"Go out with me, on a date. We'll go do something fun," Matrim said, not even really standing a chance on this one, "Completely on me. What do you say?"

Sara felt the grab on her wrist, but she pulled her hand away before he could catch it. She took a few more steps then turned to him, her face emotionless. She didn't know why she was angry. The only thing she knew was that what he had done had hurt. God only knew why. It wasn't like he was her... boyfriend or something. She had no say in what he did or where he went. And it was obvious. He had once said that she was only his friend, and things that happened after that incident only proved that he didn't care about her and it was best that she back off. So why the hell did she care so much? Damned if she knew. All she had managed to do by following him back here was make an idiot out of herself.
She ignored his apologies. She didn't want them. She only wanted to go home now and forget she had seen him today. And then of course, he surprised her. As usual.
"Go out with me, on a date. We'll go do something fun, completely on me. What do you say?"
She was stunned. For a moment, she felt nothing, her face went blank. Then, emotions flooded through her. She paused for a moment. She was happy, yet... At the same time, insulted. He was asking her because he pitied her. Well, she didn't want his pity. Or maybe he just wanted to make her leave him alone. That was probably it. She had attacked him the moment she saw him. He was probably just trying to make her feel better. So he was asking her out because he pitied her, and wanted her to leave him alone. That asshole...
"What...? What the hell...? No. Why the hell would ask me that?" Without waiting for an answer she turned and started to... swim/walk away. She paused only once more, glancing back at him and spoke, her anger apparent in her voice. "You should know me better then that Matrim. I don't need anymore of your pity fucks." Yes, a harsh slap referring to what had happened last time, but it was the truth. She didn't need that. She had only come out more hurt.
Starting to walk away again she spoke a little quieter, embarrassed. "I shouldn't have followed you here... I'll stay out of your way." She wanted to cry, because the truth was, she would have liked to say yes.
Hopefully she made it out of the water without further incident, and quickly grabbing her things, she would leave.
