This was a swell day. M, not really wanting to to do much but walk around, encountered a few 'thug life' kind of guys who thought it'd be interesting to beat up a random guy. Well, somehow he got involved in a fight and somehow got involved in about fifteen guys all chasing after him. Well, he could've killed every single one of 'em, but he didn't want that life back. So he ran, as it was likely one of the smarter things to do. It was awful odd to look at, most likely; a tall, Asian man running from a bunch of big buff guys with pants hanging down to their knees.
It was real easy to lose 'em since they had almost no way of running and staying upright at the same time, so M quickly made a dash into an alley and kicked off of a dumpster, jumping onto a windowsill right beside a really tall wall, and then he hopped over it. He landed on his feet and took off again, but he wasn't paying enough attention, and ran into someone. Conveniently enough. His body kind of span around in a 360 and he landed on one knee and his palm.
"Damn.. Sorry. You okay?"

She had been out on one of her usual walks. It wasn't much other than just a need to get out of the house and away from all the people at school. Not that she hadn't met some interesting people in her time here, but it was still nice to have some solace in your life.
It was just when she had started down a street she had yet to travel down that she was plowed into. Knocking her back and onto her ass.
Instantly a simple whimper escaped her and before she ever got a chance to get up or to reply to the guys question, Sylar was there in front of her, perched on one outstretched leg and fanning his wings defensively.....eyes burning a whole in the face of the guy?.....who had run into her.
"Y...Yeah I am fine."
Mia looked from him to the falcon that was on her legs, feeling those claws scraping at her pant leg. Reaching one hand out, she soothingly stroked his back.
"Shh...Sylar....I am fine. It was an accident. Now...go on. Let me up."
She knew the bird couldn't really defend her if it came right down to it. But he would try with what he had. Just as she would do anything to defend him.
Once he had flown off, she gave a little grunt to try and push herself back up to stand. Her tail bone aching from the impact with the cement sidewalk.
"In a hurry I take it?"

Bird? Bird. Wow. M had never really seen anyone carrying around a bird before. Were he a normal guy, he might think it strange. But he's not necessarily normal.. He thought it was kind of cool, actually. But now he felt like a prick. Even though it probably wasn't too bad, and unavoidable given that were he not to jump the wall he'd return to Bel, he still felt a little guilty. This was a strange feeling to him.. Almost new.
"Really sorry. I, uh, well.. A hurry is a little bit of an understatement."
After he spoke, shouts could be heard behind the wall he'd just leaped over, but the chances of them getting over were slim. They were big, yeah, but that was it. They were really unwieldy kinds of people. So, for a moment, M could stop running. His breathing began to slow.
"Not sure if this is the best time or place for introductions, but, uh.. I'm Mir." A 'nice to meet you' would follow after had he not caused her to fall on her rump. That's never fun.

After she had gotten up, she heard the various shouts coming from the other side of the wall. Raising her brow she dusted off her butt and then turned her attention back to him.
"I am Mia. So, I take it those guys are not your friends looking to hang out and party."
If she were any other person she might have just yelled back at them and told them where they could find their target, but as it were, Mia was a fairly nice girl who didn't like to get anyone in trouble. Instead she just kept to herself for the most part and talked to people when they dared to talk to her.
Reaching up, she brushed back some long stray locks of brown hair from her face, letting out a little huff as she did so.
It wasn't that she didnt like to meet new people, just that she could have used a different venue for that sort of thing. Either way, here they were. So, with chin up she stuck out her right hand in a friendly gesture to shake.
"Nice to meet you Mir."

"Oh, they're totally friendly. They, just.. They miss me, that's all."
'twas his attempt at a joke. Obviously it wasn't going too well. He wasn't used to being social, but he needed to try and this was as good a chance as any, right? Aside from the gangsters and falling, though. He'd muster up his courage and try to be not so awkward, because that was never fun.
"Nice to meet you, Mia."
He'd wait a brief moment and then shake her hand. The shouts and various noises were dying down, so maybe the brutes were finally leaving? I'd take a few steps forward and then turn to her. She probably knew a lot about this place that I didn't? Or maybe a little bit. I could probably ask her to show me around.
"So.. this place got any really cool sights to see?"

After he released her hand she took a step back and looked about to see if she could see where Sylar had fluttered off to. But as usual, he was hiding. Not that it was a bad thing, she just liked to keep track of him whenever possible.
Either way, when he spoke up again, she shrugged softly. She knew better than to believe his failed attempt at downplaying that whole mess with the voices on the other side of the wall, but as long as he didnt drag her into any of it, then all would be grand.
"There are a few places. I mean, me personally, I like the beach, the woods just outside of town, or the library. Not to mention some of the movie theaters in this town are killer."
She gave a little shrug. She was still learning this city for what it was worth, so she didnt have all the cool hangouts down pat just yet.
"I just moved here not too long ago, so I am still getting my bearings so to speak. I am sure their is a lot more to do than my lame ideas of fun, but for now, those are all I know. I was just out exploring really when you....ummm....well when you ran into me."

Beach, woods, library, theaters. Woods sounded the best, not too many people, likely. That'd definitely be a nice place to spend a day and just relax, without a doubt. The other places would have lots of people, only good with a group. And M didn't have any groups yet..
"Yeah.. sorry again about that."
A shy shrug and his hand came up to scratch the back of his head. He didn't seem to be doin' too well in successfully acquainting himself with anyone.
"Well, were you to continue.. 'exploration,' would it be alright if I tagged along? So I could get a feel for the place, too, I mean."
He must have sounded kind of creepy at first, due to the fact that the two had just encountered each other. She didn't seem like she wanted to pepper spray him, though. Hopefully she didn't.

So he did sound just a little bit on the creepy side, but nothing too out of the ordinary. Still, Mia had to really put some thought into letting him walk along with her. He was, after all, being chased by that group of not so happy men on the other side of the wall.
What if he got her into some kind of trouble? Sylar would never let her hear the end of it.
But then again, it would be nice to have somebody to explore the city with. Not that she didn't love her solace, but potentially making new friends was always a good thing. So in the end, she simply shrugged and gave a little smile.
"Sure, just so long as you promise not to get me into the kind of trouble you seem to be in."
She didn't need that kind of crap in her life. That was for sure.
Stepping to the side of him, she began to move once more. Deciding that they might as well get going. Right?
"So...Mir...Where are you from?"
It seemed to be the best place to start a conversation. It was either that or 'What school do you go to?' which would honestly probably be her next question.

"I don't think there'll be another issue anytime soon."
A friendly grin followed. It was likely that those real polite folk weren't going to try anything for a long while. They'd probably wait until the next time M got into an alley. And, besides, they were in a public place, too. Chances of the cops getting notified by someone were high, right? But, that's besides the point. He started to follow at her side, since that gave a more friendly feel than following behind someone.
"I'm from Seoul, South Korea. I'd grown up there, and lived there till a few days ago."
He'd been working on his story for some time, in case anyone asked. He was trying to keep Deramoto 'dead.' But there was a flaw in that he spoke pretty much perfect english, though he was sure not to get interrogated by Mia.
"You? You said you haven't been here long."
He wouldn't ask too much from the get go. He'd try not to seem weird first.

She listened to what he had to say, and though something seemed off about what he was saying, she didnt push the matter. No, she figured she would just let it go unless things really started to feel out of place.
Continuing her casual stroll with him now at her side, she sighed and then finally managed to answer the same question in return.
"Originally I was born in New York but then we moved to North Carolina. I was there up until recently."
For her it was the truth, her accent had both a hint of her parents heritage in it and a slight bit of New Yorker in it. She sounded like many of the immigrant families that lived there all their lives.
But then, she wasn't trying to hide from anything. She was just trying to get used to living here now. Nothing more, nothing less.
As she moved, she tucked her thumbs into the corners of her pockets. Giving her a more casual look as she strode along. She wasn't exactly sure where she was going. Instead she was just content with walking along and finding stuff as she went.
"So you enrolled in any school yet?"
It was just as predicted, at least in her mind. The second most common question to follow after 'Where you from?'......Such a by the book conversation it could almost be deemed a bit dull if not for the eventful manner in which they had met.

"Moved across the country. That doesn't sound too fun."
She seemed to be honest. That kind of made him feel a little bad, but it was likely for the best. Even though there were no chances of him being known this far out into the country, precautions were always a good idea.
"Yeah, actually. A #259 or something like that. You know it?"
Maybe it was a popular school and he could get some tips before going? Or maybe it was just kind of there and no one knew about it. That would kind of suck, just a little bit. Of course, he wasn't exactly hoping for an amazingly famous school, he just needed to finish it.
Now, pretty soon, he realized, there would be a lack of questions to be asked. So he started thinking of stuff to keep a conversation going and really couldn't think of much.. It was hard not being a people person.

She didn't know why but when he mentioned the school he was attending she found that she had been expecting that. Maybe it was just that he seemed the type to fit in just right in a place like 259. Nobody could really know for sure.
"Yeah, that's where I am enrolled. Just started classes a couple days ago actually."
Now came the part where she was supposed to give some kind of idea what the school was like. Yeah, that would be easy given that she had been attending for a whole week.....Heh. But she would do the best she could based on what she had heard and what she had seen.
"Its a strange place, that's for sure. A lot of violence supposedly. I haven't seen any yet myself, but from word of mouth I am told that people tend to resort to fists there quite often."
She shrugged. It was the truth. She hadn't seen anything really violent as of yet, but it had only been a week like she said. She was sure that given a few more weeks she would see more than her fair share.
But it seemed like a good school none the less. Once you got past the rumors of violence and some of the less savory characters that you seemed destined to run into.
"It's a good school none the less I think. Give me a few more weeks and then I will know for sure."
In the distance she heard the sound of Sylar on the hunt. The distinct cry of her falcon was hard to miss. He must have found a rat or something to chase down. It wasn't unlikely given all the alley ways and dumpsters that this city had.
Looking in the direction of the sound, she shook her head, mind seeing what he saw, seeing the small bird he had hunted down and caught mid-air.
Instantly she closed the mental link. Not really in the mood to see some bird be torn to bits and devoured.
"So you move here with your family?"
It was an innocent enough question she thought. But then she didn't know that he was trying to hide things. If she had, she might not have asked.

"Sounds no different than.. Never mind."
He was going to say "New York," but that would've blown his whole story out of the water with his "I just moved here" thing. So he stopped himself. And this didn't sound too good. He wanted to get away from the violence, but it seemed he just walked right back into it. Hopefully, though, things wouldn't go back to what they were.
"I moved alone. My father had to manage a business back home, and he was really important. For him to just leave would have messed up a lot of peoples' income."
And it was true, really. His father pretty much led the Yakuza. But he wasn't going to say that, so he left it open to whatever her thoughts desired. Lest she ask, then he'd need to say something, but for now he didn't technically lie about that li'l fact.
"I'm assuming you did? Move with family, I mean. My situation isn't the most common, I'm sure."

She wasn't completely clueless. She noticed the way he spoke perfect english, the slight accent to his tone, the way he stopped himself from saying certain things. Most of all she noticed how he was rather vague on any details about his past or his moving here.
Not that she cared much. Sure, if he was a person she knew better and considered friend, she would be offended that she was being lied to, but for this guy, it was more of an annoyance really.
"Yeah, I moved here with my parents. They had to move out here so my Dad could find a better job after my little brother was born."
She shrugged as though it was no big deal, but actually it had been. She had just started having a life in North Carolina. Then just like that, they packed up and moved across the country. For a teenager, it was life altering.
But more so than her own personal issues, something else was weighing on her mind.
"Look. I dont know what you are running from, or trying to hide and to be honest with you....I am not sure I want to know. Its your past and who am I to pry into it. But how about we steer the conversation toward something that doesn't require you having to fumble for another lie?"
This of course was followed by a small, friendly smile. She wasn't saying the words in a bitchy manner, she was just trying to make the whole getting to know you thing easier on both of them.

"So a coast switch? Huh.."
He felt continually bad about this conversation, but the only way to make yourself a new person was to keep up with it, right? A whole new identity. He could just say he was some sort of child prodigy - which he was, just not in the best sense - and his parents just happened to have him learn ten languages when he was a kid. He wasn't the hitman's son anymore. But maintaining was hard when he was almost forced to lie. So when she said what she did next it almost lifted a weight off of his shoulders.
"I'm not.. Sure. That'd be.. good."
Almost a shrug and he, again, scratched the back of his head, just to give himself something to do. But it wasn't really a cover of sorts.
"So, uh.. What kind of things interest you? I'm a musician, myself."
