A little gift For Jayr, the morning would follow its similar road; from the warm morning shower, the last minute sprint downstairs after mindlessly arguing with herself if salmon and pink were the same color before quickly tossing toast in the toaster all the while flourishing about to get some coffee only to find out that she managed to burn the toast almost causing a glorious fire in her kitchen. A fruitful grin however as the piece of toast was stuck between her lips held in place by tautly fastened teeth progressing to skip out the door and drive off to school.
Upon her arrival she'd be the first to notice things weren't as normal as she'd have hoped they'd been. A strange chorus of eyes trained on her a bit more than usual as she felt that the word was out about her tournament. That was right, she'd physically face palm herself for having let it slip her mind. The new super power that was the Student Liberation front was now gathering a reputation. She supposed that was good in a way, but it also somewhat unnerved her that there was so much expectation for her alone to change the way things were when the actual methodology of the group was based on individualism. Though much of that was to be expected having only recently come from the era of Pillars, still clinging to their positions.
Jayr would flip her hair casually having exited the car door, her teal-green blouse hung off her figure fitting just above her jeans so that her belly button was slightly visible. She'd turn back to the car and grab her purse off the roof which had managed to survive there the drive from the house impressive as that gravity defying thing was, slowly sliding the handle over her shoulder clutching her books tight and proceeding onward down the halls with her eyes down.
Curious perhaps by what was in store for this day she would slowly rear her eyes up cautiously to see the fading lines of students seemingly making way for her, the pursuit of answers perhaps? Curiosity was about the school en mass. And Jayr for once felt unprepared.

Mathew was waiting, waiting at the school for someone in particular. Word had spread of a tournament, one in which Mathew would be participating. First prize was some belt or other stupid trinket. Mathew didn't care about belts or shirts. What interested him far more was the rumor that the group hosting the matches would invite the best of them to join their ranks. That drew his notice, picking only the best was something he could get behind.
He knew little of the politics of the actual organization though, only being recently returned. All he knew was they were after some kind of reform or something. Protecting student interests and blah blah blah. It was the same shit he had heard a million times before from a hundred different lips. He wasn't doubting their sincerity but rather their ability, and maybe their sincerity. No one said what they meant, everyone made promises they couldn't keep. Politicians made a living out of it. This group would be no different.
Still, it had caught his interest and that warranted some one on one time in his books. So he waited in the main courtyard, listening to people talk, trying not to stand out from the crowd. Something that was much easier now then it had been years before. His current anonymity did have a few perks, one of which was blending in. Though he did miss the crowd parting fear of the past, who knows he might yet return to that again.
His eyes shifted upward when he heard someone mention the name he was listening for. "Jayr." Was the leader of this group, or if not the leader the face. She was the one that he wanted, and looking up it wasn't hard to spot her. He took a moment to look her over, the way her outfit moved with her body. He noticed the fact that her bellybutton showed, to the color green of her top. That made him smile.
Mathew stood up from where he was squatting, working through the crowd until he stepped right in front of the girl he was looking for, his arms crossed in front of his chest as he looked her over again, this time for her benefit. Mathew himself would likely send mixed signals. His hair was shaggy and messy, unkempt. His dull green jacket was old with holes in it, bullet holes and knife stabs through it. To the casual glance it would be old and ragged, something you might find on a homeless man, but to a more aware eye they would see a glimpse of what was inside, through the bullet holes and knife wounds one would see they never go all the way through. There was a strange flexible woven metal alloy inside the coat.
His pants would probably appear to be gaudy as sin, leather with a scale studded pattern on them. Those two had hidden secrets within though. However his skin would be clean and blemish free, his teeth straight and white, and even his nails cleaned underneath. Despite what it might look like at first glance, Mathew was a man that took care of himself.
"I give you a B-." He said to her with a very serious tone, he was not hiding the fact that he was judging her. And if he guessed correctly by her appearance that would bug her. If it didn't, he would adjust his estimations accordingly.

The Breakdown Jayr felt a little on edge after the pursuit of eyes though she candidly had to get used to it she supposed, at least until others would step up to take responsibilities. That was the intention after all, that in being a leader if even for a momentary lapse she could inspire those around her to take her place and make an effort to span forward. The thing most other leaders, even politicians passed up was the sake of legacy. A small grin would appear as she looked downwards to avoid the glances before walking into the man with the green patched coat.
"I give you a B-."
Her eyes trailing up his figure to look him in the eyes as she stood just short of him considering her heels were on after all. The statement he processed her with was a confusing one to her considering there was no prior engagement, she supposed it'd refer to her attire or figure, in which case she was somewhat set aback. Yet the consideration that she didn't know at all what he was referring to would lead her to second guess her remarks.
"Sorry what?"
Ignorance was bliss after all.

A hint of a smile touched Mathew's lips at her question. It seemed his aim had been achieved, at least his first one. His question had taken her aback, as was expected. She was surely not used to strange guys coming up to her and grading her. Even if this wasn't the first case of being randomly graded by a guy, he was sure it was never anything less than an A. She seemed the type to be used to guys doing nothing but trying to get in to her pants. He had to wonder if that was the case if she would in fact be worthless to him.
"A B-. It's the grade I'm giving you. Well, this." He said motioning around to the people looking at her, as well as motioning to her. His hands sweeping over the courtyard before finally doing a pass over her body in an hour glass shape.
"It's not bad, but I have seen far better before. Curious as to how full of shit you are though." He said with a nonchalant shrug of his shoulders.
"Really it's your looks that's keeping you from being a C+." He said with another shrug of his shoulders.
"But that's not too important." He said waving it away dismissively.
"What really matters is the question. Just how full of shit are you Miss Jayr?" He said, smugly. A wicked impish fire burning behind his eyes as he awaited her reaction. Watching. Judging.

Cross "A B-. It's the grade I'm giving you. Well, this."
His hand gesturing to the mass of the school and Jayr would turn her head slightly to pick it out. Darting cerulean hues looked about trying to figure what he was getting at still coming up short. She wasn't dumb mind you, it was simply a figure of ideology. "It's not bad, but I have seen far better before. Curious as to how full of shit you are though."
O.o
All the same Jayr was at a loss at what he was getting at, the pieces coming together in her head as she formed an innocent smile not taking his words truly to heart considering the simple fact was, she didn't control this, nor did she make the presumption that she had any control over anything here. All the changes were of natural causes; what happened when a force was enacted upon and no one stopped its momentum, even people aided its forward movement attributing Jayr for working it when in reality, just as she'd hoped and planned for others within her ranks put forth the truest effort.
"Really it's your looks that's keeping you from being a C+. But that's not too important. What really matters is the question. Just how full of shit are you Miss Jayr?"
Jayr would pause for a moment with her innocent smile, her head tilting to the side curiously to place her index finger on her lip with a contemplative forethought.
"Not sure at what you're getting at in all honesty."
Jayr would say truthfully with a straight forward expression breaking into a slight laugh before controlling herself, however unable to submit the smile.

When she laughed Mathew wouldn't do anything, his face would remain blank, letting her have her moment of mirth and smile. He was amused when she said that she didn't know what he was getting at though. He filed it away in his brain and adjusted his opinion of her. So far he thought that things were proving to be informative about the Student Liberation Front. Even if it wouldn't seem like it to most people.
"Well if you don't understand what I am getting at then don't worry about it." He said with a small smile. He would change tracks, something that he was prepared to do when he approached the young lady that was known to him to be the leader of the Liberation Front.
"Walk with me?" He would ask the girl, giving her a second to consider before turning his back to her forcing her to choose whether to follow him or be left behind. He assumed she would follow him, but if not and the exchange was over he would find him satisfied with the encounter.
The choice was a simple one for Jayr he was sure. Either she could go on about her day before, shrugging off the encounter with Mathew. Or she could follow him and find out what he meant, who he was, and what his intentions might be. After all there was surely a reason he went to the trouble to meet her face to face, however briefly.

When you say it like that. "Well if you don't understand what I am getting at then don't worry about it."
Of course when someone said that one was opting to grow only far more curious than they had before. Jayr fighting the urge to be that annoying little girl and poke at his buttons till he told her. She'd try stepping into the shoes of what she'd made herself out to be this entire stay at 259, a more adult, mature woman that could handle most issues with reason. But there was always that cautiously scared little girl that hid away behind the facade.
"Walk with me?"
"Mm.. okay?"
She'd squeak out taking a casual pace beside him. There was always something symbolic she felt about the little inquiries to a persons body language that spoke more about them than anything else they presented.
"So you seem to know my name, I'm at a loss as to yours."
Jayr would question first off wanting to know names, seeing as of course it was only courteous in any conversation to be upfront and productive. Else wise what would she consider calling him? Mr. Green and easy on the eyes? No simply wouldn't do.

A smile flashed across Mathew's face for the briefest of moments at the girl's squeak. To him it said a lot about her. By the time she had caught up to him the smile was gone, almost as if it was never there. When she did catch up it was hardly a surprise that the first thing she had asked was his name. He considered lying, giving a false name to misdirect her. But, he saw little point in that other then a small jolly in the moment.
"Mathew Amtrum, The Earth Dragon." He said bluntly. Name and title flowing together as they have for years before he even made it to California. A title he claimed back in New York from the first Dragons.
As they walked Mathew didn't look back at Jayr, instead he focused on where he was going, walking off of the beaten path of the pavement and on to the grass. The location he was leading her was so far undetermined. He was just walking for now, currently in the direction of Leon's clock tower. A place that not many people dared to walk past it seemed, though Leon never scared Mathew. Not after everything they had shared together.
"So what is it that you want exactly?" He asked the girl, wondering if she would be able to pull what he was talking about from what he said. Or if she would be confused like she was before.

Waiting. "Mathew Amtrum, The Earth Dragon."
Yet another Dragon, it was to be suspected, considering how little she actually knew concerning their inserection. But that mattered little to her as those Dragon's she'd met always conferred with the same simplistic logic. Not to say she couldn't judge as well but she chose not to, rather to let time unfold and decide if Matthew was at all like the others than to assume wrongly she supposed.
In the end however, as they walked down the matted path of green Jayr conferred with herself what was up with him. It was a similar refrence to David in all honesty how they were suspecting her of ulterior motives behind what she did. Or presumed naivety played its part. Perhaps she displayed figures of both in her actions but she felt it was deemed reasonable.
"So what is it that you want exactly?"
Jayr would huff slightly, her body coming to an abrupt stop letting her arms cross over her chest, brow furrowed in attempts to get the message across where words and smiles had not.
"To Graduate High School, Get into a grand college, perhaps make it to Hollywood and be an actress, meet a hot yet sophisticated guy and settle down have two kids relatively similar in age and die old and happy."
All said straightforward and yet with a biting edge of sarcasm before relinquishing back to a calm smile.

"Well if that's the case then you are pretty stupid aren't you." He said simply taking a few more steps before stopping.
He didn't turn to look at her yet. Instead he would look at the clock tower that stood before him. Worn with time and damage from countless fights. It had obviously been repaired time and time again. Yet despite those repairs the scars of time and battle were evident. Reaching out he would slowly touch the stone of the landmark. It was after about ten seconds of this that he would turn and face Jayr.
"If that is what you really want then you should stop what you are doing before that pretty face of yours is destroyed. Before your mind gets lost due to repeated head injury." He said matter-of-factly. It was something he had seen time and time again.
It would be a shame to see her reduced to a scared and jaded hunk of flesh. Her mind lost in a fog brought on by repeated head injury. The path she was on now would not lead her to Hollywood to marry a hot guy. The path she was on was a path or violence and war. It could very well destroy her.
He folded his arms over his chest as he looked at her, his eyes locking with hers. They were cold from the horrors that he had seen. To this day he had nightmares, he woke up in the dead of night with his heart pounding inside his chest. He had seen things that would never leave him. Faces that would haunt him until he died.
"So would you like to change your answer and lose the sarcasm or not?" He said in a stern tone. He was asking an honest question about her intentions and her sarcastic evasion was not making her cause seem as noble as the hype about it was. After all if the Leader or figure head couldn't tell him what she wanted then he would find it hard to trust that she was doing what she was doing for the greater good.

Just short of realizing. "Well if that's the case then you are pretty stupid aren't you."
Jayr wouldn't react, she'd heard the same thing before elsewhere though from another mouth another face called the same names and yet still here she stood. Stupid was as stupid does. Naive and Stupid she may be still she'd press her limits regardless unafraid, or perhaps very afraid but thats what she found true strength to be, facing your fears.
"If that is what you really want then you should stop what you are doing before that pretty face of yours is destroyed. Before your mind gets lost due to repeated head injury."
"Is that a threat? Or do I sense concern?"
Jayr would retract back in a completely calm tone. She knew what he meant by now, another mirror to what David had done to her the overtly masculine poise to protect her perhaps for something she had so very little knowledge nor experience on. Trying to use that very human reaction of fear to get her to back down. That is however where Jayr stepped over the line.
"So would you like to change your answer and lose the sarcasm or not?"
A simple smile as a reply, weak smile perhaps but it was there. She didn't know Amtrum but his reaction gave away all too much about himself. Resident tough guy she guessed but also a softy at heart. A bit of a tickle in the back of her mind wanting to see more of that rather than the cold exterior.
"I frequently-regularly-often trip while reaching for my high ideals. Then I giggle, or cry, and get back up. "
Jayr would remark in a light tone of voice. Quoting one of her favorite lines, something that defined her just as well. There were times when you failed and got hurt, but it was the urge to get back up that made you.
"I'm guessing that you've been through some rough times."
Jayr would make note of more implying to him that he didn't need to tell her if he chose not to, she was just there to understand, and be there if he needed that opportunity to tell her. Though they were just meeting there was always opportunity for growth in persistent people.

Mathew was amused, she thought he was threatening her. Well he could see where she might think that, but she was lacking motivation. What did he have to gain by threatening her. Not a damn thing. Still it spoke a little bit in to her state of mind, maybe she was already getting threats, maybe she was paranoid. Maybe she was the type to threaten.
"Not a threat. More of an observation. It wouldn't be the first time I have seen it happen. So full of hopes and dreams only to become brain damaged by someone who decided to fight after the enemy could fight no more." He said with a shrug.
He listened as she rattled off some nonsense line about tripping. As if tripping was the same thing as being crucified and set on fire. She might think she was tough and knew the dangers out there. But she was swimming with sharks and at the hint of blood they would frenzy.
Then she hit the nail on the head. It wasn't hard from the way Mathew moved. Stopped to admire the relic of a clock tower. His warnings to back down before she got hurt. The natural conclusion to draw from this was that deep down Mathew was still human. That he had a heart and while it might be three sizes to small there was always a chance that it could grow to be two sizes too big. Or maybe it already was to big, and he felt he had to put on a tough front for respect or survival. Maybe he felt he was trapped so deep in his sins that he would never get out.
"You could say I have my demons. And I have to live with them." He replied, his tone dropped in warmth drastically with his reply. A frown formed on his lips. Probably showing that she had hit a nerve with him. That she might have found a weak spot for him. It would be impossible to tell without further probing however.
"Let me just be candid. I heard that you were trying to change the broken system. That was in alignment with my own interests. I have never been a fan of the pillar system and I even tried to get a student council up once. Though with a gang war going on at the time that was all but impossible." He said dismissing it with a wave of his hand. As if he was banishing it back to the past.
"However I also know your little group isn't the only ones trying to change things. I felt that if I met with the so called leader I would gain insight on if this was a group that was worth my time. Though I admit I have my doubts now. You seem awfully naive and oblivious to what is in the waters you are swimming in. So tell me this, why should I care about what you are trying to accomplish? Or should I even bother? Who knows maybe you don't even want me." He said, a small smile touched his face at his last sentence showing that it was said more lighthearted than anything else Mathew had said to her.

Speaking Frankly She'd hit a nerve somewhere, she could sense it by the touch of warmth granted, if not entirely flashed aside quickly hereafter. However proud she was that she could do that to people she wouldn't gloat, perhaps even acting overly dim was her way of doing just the opposite. Regardless of it all she wanted to speak truthfully, openly, without fear of conspirators or judgmental eyes constantly encompassing her.
"You could say I have my demons. And I have to live with them."
She wanted to say that we all had them, to relate was the most common reaction, but somewhere she sensed that Matthew didn't want to be related to, perhaps he scorned having such demons in his past and judging by the warmth given, he acted outright this way so that others wouldn't have to. The lesser of two evils she suspected.
"Let me just be candid. I heard that you were trying to change the broken system. That was in alignment with my own interests. I have never been a fan of the pillar system and I even tried to get a student council up once. Though with a gang war going on at the time that was all but impossible."
Relating, she didn't know the effects of that, nor the force of a war but all those she'd met have had one thing in common. They all wore their scars on their sleeves. Remembering and holding close the vindications of past lives without coming to build from them. Building their own fortresses unto themselves, these false illusions that were their facades. Masks worn to save them from being candid.
Who knows maybe you don't even want me."
A smile. Well that was good enough for her, a smile was more than enough of a start to build from.
"To be honest, I never knew you before now. However I suppose I'm glad I have now."
She'd say innocently enough with a smile. They were being straightforward. As she'd hope he'd grant her the same courtesy no matter how harsh. As for his doubts, they were deserved, earned purely from a subtle frame of observation. She could do no such thing to revoke that but perhaps inspire him. Maybe not working under the same flag but to the same end as it seemed their results after all were aligned.
"I'd like to have you aboard, to whatever ends if that isn't out of line for me to ask. Though perhaps maybe insight into me isn't the place to start in understanding?"
Jayr would smile turning away from the clock tower, old relic of memories and pasts. No doubt it held special meaning in his mind so she'd respect it as just that as she turned to walk towards the courtyard.
"Walk with me?"
She'd smile stopping as she turned letting her hand drop down offering a more friendly approach then how he'd entered. Perhaps their methods did differ, and justly so as things could not grow without conflict, but thats not what Jayr hoped to resolve anyways.

"I think insight in to you is the best way to tell if the organization you started would be a good fit for me. Groups say and do a lot of things, but when it is as small as your group, insight in to the mind that created it, to the one that runs it can tell you a lot about the group." He said bluntly.
Taking a moment to look at the younger girls ass as she turned away from him, asking her to walk with him as he had asked her before. He tongued the inside of his lower lip as he thought about it for a moment while her back was turned. He watched then as she turned around, maybe wondering why he was hesitating.
"Alright." He said with a nod of his head. "I'll walk with you, but not that way." He said turning his head to look past the clock tower. He wanted to go to the fields, there would be less people there.
"This way if it's all the same to you? I don't really want to deal with a crowd if we are going to talk." He said, waiting for an indication on whether or not that was acceptable, if she indicated that it was then he would start walking toward the fields instead of back toward the entrance of the courtyard.

Getting the Wrong Idea "I'll walk with you, but not that way."
Jayr would stop to laugh at him, not intended to be in a degrading way but in a way that would suggest that he'd said something of joking mannerism. Considering what she just heard was contradictory to the method in which to show him. There was no trap, no ploy, no means to draw him into an unruly situation. She just wanted to show him just what most people passed up but what sat between their own two eyes.
"This way if it's all the same to you? I don't really want to deal with a crowd if we are going to talk."
"You're missing the point Matty."
Jayr would laugh lightly persisting to walk in that direction though not walking any longer merely inching her head to the side to somewhat pressure him nonchalantly in this direction.
"Okay, so you don't like crowds we'll stay clear of the crowds."
Jayr would compromise but not on the direction in which they were walking, an empty field was no way to relate to a public. An empty field however calming a place couldn't teach you about the constant changes in the world in which you lived. Regardless of how some people dealt with it the constant exposure and learning curves drove you to adapt.
"We'll be quick alright."
A smirking face would purse lips together almost pleading in a joke like manner taking no "no" for an answer.
