It had been a while, but it was finally time to collect the due he had been promised. A date, with the girl who was now school captain. Well, for now. No one new this but Mathew, but tonight was going to be the last night of her captain ship, the note had already been placed in Linda's locker. Tomorrow morning things were going to get interesting.
Still tonight was a night of fun, a time to enjoy himself with the young Emily. He hadn't forgotten their time together in the Correctional Facility, as they fought against a hundred men on their own. And yet, he still didn't have her number. Thankfully he had her name, and with her position in the school. Her locker wasn't hard to find. Earlier that day he had left her a note, telling her to meet him outside the school at six PM.
That is where Mathew stood, leaning against some random BMW convertible that he stole on his way up. He was dressed nicely, not at all like his normal self. He had on a nice dress jacket and button up shirt, black slacks and even nice shoes as opposed to his normal combat battle wear. He actually looked normal!

Life was being a headache now. Emily had just finished a rather long research paper for one of her subjects. It wasn't any fun, but she had to do it.
Oh boy. Emily wasn't wearing anything special, just her old yellow dress that she liked to wear a bit back. Well, she missed it, so she wore it, obviously. She had to leave behind a few of her items though, like her ballet shoes, vest and scarf. Yeah, it was like shouting to the world: "I'm vulnerable now, so beat me up."
Though, hopefully that was not gonna happen... NOT.
Emily sighed, remembering what was inside her locker this afternoon. Oh boy, a letter from dragon boy himself. Yeah, she remembers. She owed him a date.
Might as well get this over with.
Emily stood outside the school, looking around cautiously. What was Mathew up to?

Mathew on the other hand was in a great mood! It had been a wonderful day, things were moving forward, and the council would be most pleased. Mathew had always been one to take great pride in his work. After all if you didn't like what you did why do it?
His face brightened as he saw a seemingly exhausted Emily waiting around for him. It didn't matter, he was going to turn that frown upside down, Mathew style. For the record that does not mean a scream of terror and pain.
"Emily!" He called out, waving her over as he leaned against the evenings ride. If she was observant she would notice the lack of keys in the ignition, or in his hand. But then again, who cared about small details like that?

Emily looked towards the familiar voice. Why, it was Mathew, right by what seemed to be "his car". Nope, Emily didn't have super vision to notice such small details regarding the peculiar loss of keys, but for all Emily knew it would be God knows where.
The girl gave a soft, somewhat tired smile. Yes, tired. Schoolwork was piling up. Emily hated research work, but meh. That was a story for some other time. The white-haired girl walked towards the young dragon, and said: "Uh... hey?"
Yeah, she was a little nervous and all.
Not like she's been on dates very often.

Despite what a lot of people thought about Mathew, he was rather intelligent. Smart enough that most of his classes were not much of a problem, well when he did attend them. Combine that with the fact that he has several people on hand for...... "homework Aid" and he never really stressed about classes. So instead of a mutually tired Mathew, she would approach a very happy and energetic Mathew.
Why was he so happy? Simple, everything was going his way right now. Everything was moving according to his plan.
"Long time no see, miss me?" He asked with a cocky grin.
Truth be told he was expecting her to say she didn't miss him. He was used to being hated by most people, feared by others. But in the end most at least respected him. He doubted that Emily missed him simply because he was who he was, a force of change, and change was often painful, whether or not it is good.

Emily wasn't stupid really, she was just feeling lazy at the moment. Fatigue had settled in for that week, as she had tons of things to deal with.
Oh, well. Emily loved being busy, and that's all what matters now.
"Long time no see, miss me?"
Emily only chuckled, and replied: "Not really, but I did miss the excitement that stalked you." Yeah. She has absolutely no idea what Mathew had in mind for the following day, but that will be a story for another thread. "What happened? You just disappeared like... poof. If you get what I mean."

Mathew was seemingly unaffected by her when she said she didn't miss him, just the excitement that followed him. He wasn't one to let on, especially when he had expected such an answer, but it did sting again. Everyone liked to be missed, and he had thought him and Emily had hit it off. Lord knows he did what he could to free her from the correctional facility. Well if that was the case, it just made what he had to do that much easier. He could forget about forming an attachment to her, and instead just focus on using her.
As far as the world was concerned Mathew as all smiles, grinning at her comment instead of showing the flicker of pain that had coursed through his system.
"I have that effect on people." He said teasingly.
"As for why I was gone, well maybe I will show you if we get to date number three." He finished with a wink and grin. Very playful.
"Get in." Mathew said as he moved over to the driver's side, jumping in over the shut door in a small bout of showing off. When she was in the car he would connect two of the wires to start up the engine. Putting his hand behind her seat as he looked behind them he would start to back out so that he could get on to the main road.
"You hungry?" He asked figuring he would play things by ear a bit.

Apparently, Emily had to open her big mouth.
Well, she was slightly oblivious to the hurt she had brought onto Mathew: He was good at hiding it. No matter, everything shall resume as it should, everything should end up
"I have that effect on people."
Emily just smiled, still oblivious to what conspired inside Mathew's mind. Oh, well.
"As for why I was gone, well maybe I will show you if we get to date number three."
"Looking forward to it, then."
Yeah, she wasn't good at this.
"Get in." Emily nodded and followed suit, though obviously not as flashy as he did. After a little awkward decision on if she was to take the back seat or the front seat beside Mathew. What? She was new to this, and her pulse was saying that she was nervous.
She was quiet though, somewhat shy about the entire matter though she had many questions on her mind. Emily thought she'd leave it for later.
Then he asked, as the car began to move forward and onto the streets : "You hungry?"
"I...guess."
A little silence.
"... I...I'm sorry, I'm not exactly used to the whole idea of 'going out'. If I do something wrong to hurt you, or you feel I'm a little boring, tell me. Please?" She told him, slightly stuttering in between sentences. Her Filipino accent was slipping.
Yeah...

Mathew laughed, not a mean sarcastic laugh like he normally did. But a friendly laugh almost as if he was charmed by how innocent she was. And in a way he was, he wasn't used to someone being this innocent. Though that didn't change a thing in his mind, cute or not, she was still just a piece. Though with the title of school captain, she was no longer a pawn, knight maybe, certainly not the Queen.
"Just relax, no pressure alright?" He said flashing her a grin and a wink.
He already had an idea of where he was going to take her, since she was dressed casually still he wouldn't take her anywhere fancy. He knew a great pizza place a short drive from the school. Thatsa some pizza. It was owned by a fat Italian named Tony, as much as a cliche as it was, cliches became that way because they were the norm. And Tony was a very Italian name.
"So what have you been up to in my absence?" He asked casually trying to keep the conversation going. After all he didn't want to bore her either, and if he could learn something too, even better. Though he thought he knew everything that he needed to know.

Emily's nerves calmed down when Mathew broke into laughter. She didn't really expect him to laugh like he did, but yeah. It calmed her down for the most part.
"Just relax, no pressure alright?" He told her, winking at her as well. Emily hid a little blush by looking towards the window and watching the world outside as she and Mathew drove by the streets of Long Beach towards the said Pizza place (though she had absolutely no idea where they were going.)
"So what have you been up to in my absence?"
"Training... and... basically trying to live up to a title I think I should've not taken." She said, the last bit with a little regret. Emily was a honest person to Enemies and Allies alike, she wasn't one to lie unless she had a damn good reason. "I got to live to it though, at least try."
Emily laughed. Yes, she was referring to the position of School Captain. She mostly took it out of a pure sense of responsibility and patriotism for the school. Some might say it was a little arrogant of her to take that position, when someone like David was much more deserving... but the guy didn't want the position at all.
... Everything was complicated. Everything.

Everything was quite simple in Mathew's eyes. He felt that most people made things to complex. Doubt and worry only clouded judgment. Mathew tried to go in, no regrets. He knew he had some regrets, but he didn't let himself dwell on those, the past was past and what was done was done. He was going to be blunt with her.
"If that's how you feel then you shouldn't have taken it at all. Doubt clouds judgment. Fear causes hesitation. When you do something Emily, do it with your whole heart, or I promise you this. You will fail. Second guessing yourself only leads to hesitation and failure."
He was serious, and he actually didn't consider her an enemy, well no more then he considered anyone an enemy. And even his allies were enemies in a way. Everyone had goals, he just wanted to make sure that his were the ones that were achieved. If others got what they wanted too that was great. If not, oh well, all that mattered was him.
"It doesn't matter if you make the wrong choice Emily, learn from your mistakes, but never doubt yourself." He said as he moved his hand patting her leg. More to the kneecap, as opposed to a more sensual one on her thigh. This wasn't a completely romantic outing after all.

Emily was selfless by nature, and it was the very reason why she took this position.
"If that's how you feel then you shouldn't have taken it at all. Doubt clouds judgment. Fear causes hesitation. When you do something Emily, do it with your whole heart, or I promise you this. You will fail. Second guessing yourself only leads to hesitation and failure."
Emily was quiet, and just listened. After all, he was saying the truth. Doubt was part of Emily's system, so is fear-- both of them made her who she is, the Bipolar woman who was declared captain, who would soon lose to a dragon a day later.
She was a lamb for the slaughter. A sacrifice for the greater good of the masses.
"It doesn't matter if you make the wrong choice Emily, learn from your mistakes, but never doubt yourself." He patted her leg.
"I didn't say it was the wrong choice." She told him, "I... just know there are people more powerful than I am who can handle this position better." She said. "But... enough of that."
She laughed nervously, gah... she was really bad at this.

"Well what did you want to talk about then? Did you want to delve in to more personal matters?" He asked cocking an eyebrow as he turned to look at her, flashing her a quick grin. His eyes returning to the road quickly. This wasn't a date about romance. He was a flirt true, but he could normally tell when a girl wasn't that in to him. And if she didn't even miss him while he was gone, well that was a sure sign that she wasn't in to him.
"Well I am proud of how far you seemed to have come. I wouldn't mind testing you out first hand some day. Might be fun." He said grinning. Fighting was almost always fun, even when it was business. He enjoyed it a lot. Closest thing to a real hobby he had, unless you counted the Drama and journalism he did back in New York.
"Just thought I would mention that." He said with a small laugh. "But seriously, whats on your mind babe? And don't tell me nothing, that isn't an answer."
