It had been a very long week for Emily, and a very difficult month. More or less, she had decided to go back to Long Beach because Ryuu was going there for business. Not like Emily had a problem with going back. However, Layla did say she decided to go to England.
Why?
The woman said her job as Emily's caretaker was over. Emily was now fully capable of supporting herself with or without her. Which was interestingly true; Emily was indeed capable of taking care of herself at this point in time. She became ever diligent with work and her studies, and she's actually closer to her profession than she realized.
However, looking around this once-familiar place, Emily realized that she would have to start from square one. Things have certainly changed the past year. Not like Emily had much of a problem, really.
Emily had her house at San Fran rented, so she gets a decent amount of money every month at least where she wouldn't need to work more than 8 hours a day.
But well, today's agenda was: to get enrolled back on 259 for her last year, to get a job at the hospital as a volunteer nurse assistant, and lastly - to find Ryuu's place.
And to think she was so sure she knew this place, when in fact - her mental map had slipped through her fingers and all she had in her mind was god-damned San Francisco.
"... I'm never gonna get home." She said, pouting. "Always moving, always moving. Man, I wish this would be the last time I would have to move. I'm getting tired of this."
She could've just called Ryuu, but her phone died out on the plane.
Just her luck, right?

(ooc: I suppose for amusement sake this'll take place before this dragon business and capture with scene)
The weekend was a blissful moment away from school, he'd unluckily been given a term paper in History his teacher Mr. Sukedi would not let him get away with skipping out this time. But rather than let that get him down Gabriel took a day off for a trip on the town, it had been some time since he'd gotten any pleasure out of it's many wonders. A calm out of character drive by the beach foreplayed his entrance into the super market.
The open-deli lie right beside the sidewalk and was plainly visible by any passerby. The place had a calm aura about it something not too disimilar from a college campus, large and open for those to enter and leave as they please. Gabriel's plain expression was one of contemplation as he stood at the fruit basket judging which melon he should choose.
He'd never been the person to go out shopping of his own accord, he'd had servants all his life to do that for him. But once again times had been changing Moral Crest was a true eye opener for him. In both good and bad.

Of course, walks were mostly uneventful by nature. It wasn't very often that you come across people you have mixed opinions about. Well, must have been Emily's lucky day as she spotted Gabriel picking out some melons on a sidewalk fruit basket. Melons are a tricky one.
Emily never really was one to have servants. In fact, she had been living alone for most of her life - and therefore, was more or less adept in the ways of surviving. Emily was quite good in cooking, and she knew quite well how to pick out good ingredients for things.
She watched the guy carefully and sighed as she figured out which melon he was looking at. Emily kept walking forward, and it really didn't matter if Gabriel noticed her.
It wasn't easy - considering that Emily dyed her hair black, but wore her old yellow dress attire like she did before she left for Moral Crest.
But of course, she just had to say something - being the perfectionist she was. She said, "The one on the farther left." She said, not stopping as she walked past him.
Yeah.

"The one on the farther left." A familiar voice rang.
He picked up the fruit taking the voice's word on it, she sounded trustworthy to him. A small grin on his face out of the success of the day. That was of course before turning to see her once again. His face flushed pale and jaw found it way to drop. She'd changed as well, appearance-wise at least, Emily's hari had returned to the black shade it had been when they first met and he tried meeting her eyes at first with caution not sure of how she'd react upon being here.
"..." Gabriel tried getting words out as he looked her over. The shocked expression dissappeared quickly returning to one of flushed embarrasment. Gabriel out of all people, in all his great foresight hadn't expected upon running into Emily again.
"Emily... It's...nice to see you." He tried forcing the words out plainly and as pleasant as could be managed considering of course the note they'd last been on. Gabriel was uncertain as to which path would continue from here.

Since Emily's short stay in San Francisco, one would say that Emily had changed a lot since then. Emily had finally gotten rid of Kari, and more or less become more sure of herself, and the things she can do.
Emily of course, still looked like herself. Her long black hair was more or less missed. Probably would be more appropriate for her now, she supposed.
"Emily... It's...nice to see you."
Emily stopped walking and turned her head to look at him. Her face was of a smile. Though, unlike before - no one was really sure as to how she really felt about things now. One of the few things she had learned from Layla Clavering was the art of concealing emotions.
What was she thinking?
"That seems a bit forced, Gabriel." She said. "I didn't expect to see you back here after what happened in San Francisco."
Of course she did. Where else would he run off to after that incident? Emily would just mentally sigh, why run into him of all people? Seriously?
She would've probably liked having to deal with a dragon better.
Not that she knew that Gabriel was one already, which - no offense, she would probably burst into laughter knowing.

Gabriel chuckled lightly stuffing the fruits away into a small plastic bag. She was right, what kind of return had he hoped to come back to? And after Reira's death he couldn't face himself in the mirror, something like that was indeed unforgivable. Live was precious, that much he learned out of this time.
"Well it would seem as though my cousin was in danger there... I could no longer keep her in harms way." Gabriel nodded finding himself unable to look her in the eyes.
Not out of disrespect but out of his own hindered shame. The memories she'd unfortunatly unleased had been dormant thru this entire trip.
"So I'm quite interested... why return here?" Gabriel questioned having an idea of whom she was looking for.
Though unfortunatly he had spent his time searching as well... To no avail. "Unfettered" Where are you?

"Well it would seem as though my cousin was in danger there... I could no longer keep her in harms way."
Emily tilted her head to the side. "Your cousin?" Emily turned to face Gabriel fully, her backpack hung by her left shoulders as she adjusted it for more comfort.
Well, Emily wasn't really familiar with Gabriel's family - nor was she even interested at that. "So I'm quite interested... why return here?"
She shrugged. Well, the answer was quite simple. Ryuu was moving to Long Beach and she followed after him. Not like anyone else should know about their relationship. Things happen.
Shit happens.
Might as well not give space to that possibility.
"The only reason I left long beach was because my family was in San Fran." She looked away, a bit. "I'm back, now that's settled."
Half-truth, actually.

Gabriel couldn't doubt the reasoning behind that. Family was important in fact it was everything, and in fact it was something Gabriel was missing now he could only protect the few of the Seran lineage that still lived. Aubrey being one of them. He nodded acknowledging her answer though he wasn't entirely satisfied, she'd never given him complete answers anyway so it wasn't quite a surprise to him.
"Well then, I sure hope you're able to manage the change in perspective around here... I wouldn't quite call in the same as San Francisco at all..."
He gave a light chuckle reminded of everything thaat had indeed happened there. To the fullest extent he couldn't regret it, simply wish things had turned out better and learn from it in the future. He'd met the most important people of his life there, Reira, The girl he'd used against her will to command an army. But despite what everyone had thought and seen they were friends. Conner, despite the naitivity of the boy Gabriel felt a common kinship to the honor he held. Olivia, of course she'd changed his entire perspective. To see a world changed, for peace and unity justice would be upheld but yet again by what means?

"Well then, I sure hope you're able to manage the change in perspective around here... I wouldn't quite call in the same as San Francisco at all..."
Emily's eyebrow twitched.
Does the end result justify the means? Not exactly; at least in Emily's mind. For that very reason she found it a bit off for Gabriel to be one to talk.
"What change in perspective are you talking about?" She said, crossing her arms above her chest, shifting her weight to the left foot. "There's not a lot of difference, if you ask me."
She shrugged again. "So, what have you been up to?" Her lips feigned a rather amused look, slightly mocking - not that Emily intended it. It wasn't easy controlling one's own negative Emotions, especially when they haven't taken their medications for a while. "Surely you haven't tried burning down 259?"

Gabriel gave her a faux stern look as he realized the woman was being indeed being quite serious and the stern face turned into a comical laugh. Apparently he'd left his mark, not intended to be in a painful manner but as he'd said if the problem is solved and the ends did indeed justify the means he would certainly be willing to do it again. The thought jumped in his mind, 'risking Olivia's life again would be worth it?' Gabriel mentally shuddered replating the image in his head. No indeed it wasn't.
"So long as their is a front lawn to the school I can almost guarentee I'll be the first to set it ablaze." Gabriel chuckled making a light hearted joke out of the situation.
Though of course he wouldn't get off that easily, he'd left scars apparently, those that don't heal from one word or another. Thes scars would remain. As originally intended, but once more, had his plans detered so far from their intention? Indeed, but once again he was given a second chance at life and with it he would not think to use it sparringly.

"So long as their is a front lawn to the school I can almost guarentee I'll be the first to set it ablaze." Emily chuckled softly, looking at the floor for a moment as she shifted weight to the other foot again. Maybe the bag was heavy? Well, no one can really say what was inside.
"Heh," Emily shook her head, "Only this time, I don't think I can let you. I'm not gonna let anyone terrorize fo- ... rather, two-five-nine."
Well, the place was more or less slightly tense, and if anything - Emily's obvious dislike for the ex-comrade was more or less being put to a stop by her own sense of decorum. She more or less had a particularly level mind, which was actually quite a bit of help in this situation.
"Well, if it matters - I won't be enrolled for another day or so." She said, "Don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing."

Gabriel began heading to the register keeping within distance of Emily as to not give the impression he'd completely ditched her. But once again there was a moment of distance almost symbolic to the void that had grown even though they'd never actually become quite that close.
"Does that mean I should get a head start on burning anything important?" Gabriel asked straight-faced without a hint of joking.
He'd only reveal his sarcastic banter shortly after she'd at least crack a smile or she took it serious, in which case he'd have hell to pay.
"So being not enrolled... how does that feel exactly? Kinda like freedom...?" Gabriel stared off at the purple-ish sky as it loafed by in a calm sensation dismissing the obvious grey clouds coming in over the ocean sea.

"Does that mean I should get a head start on burning anything important?"
"If you want to have your head hung by the school clock tower, be my guest." Yeah, a very tense conversation there.
Emily was still smiling though, just a reminder. Considering everything going on in her mind as of the moment, one can never really be too sure about what Emily is thinking of right now. These are one of the times where you can never really figure out what a girl is thinking.
Women, really.
"So being not enrolled... how does that feel exactly? Kinda like freedom...?"
"It's a waste of time." Emily grumbled as she pouted. "I could be studying right now instead of basically trying to get a hold of this place again. Layla would've handled the transferring for me, but she already left for England. Don't think she'll be back for a long while."

At the thought of studying Gabriel noticably groaned. He'd still had an assignment from Mr. Sudeki he needed to finish through with. A pant in exclaimation to the threat he'd recieved.
"mm so she's back to her old self? Not endangering you anymore I suppose..." Gabriel noted clearly remembering the last minute actions he'd seen the woman perform, nearly endangering Emily's life. He couldn't be sure to trust a woman like that, one with quite so many secrets and not a notion of common sense about it. Gabriel's mandible flexed calmly controlling a short bit of rage he felt inclined to show off. Disreguarding that he began to stroll down the street carrying the bag at his side.
"You coming or not? Not that I'm pressuring you into anything." he'd call from over his shoulder before striding of whether she take him up on it or not.

"mm so she's back to her old self? Not endangering you anymore I suppose..."
"You never were a danger to me, really." She said. More or less, since that incident at 42, many people had more or less lost their trust in Emily. Emily didn't care to bother. None of these people knew her well enough to understand, and even if they tried to - they're mostly too convinced of their own sense of judgment to care.
Emily's own life wasn't really very important, even to herself.
Not a lot of people understood that.
Not a lot of people understood why Emily let Kari out that day.
Emily had her secrets - and so did everyone else. It was human nature. She was a very honest person. The only reason why probably people think she has many secrets was because they never asked her anything.
"You coming or not? Not that I'm pressuring you into anything." Gabriel then called out as he began to leave the shop. Emily rolled her eyes and began to follow right behind him.
...
"Have you heard anything from Winters yet?"
