Well, here he was, in California. The blue-haired junior strolled down the asphalt walkway, his low-cut combat boots making soft rhythmic taps against the ground. Clad in simple collared white shirt with sleeves that merely reached halfway down his bicep and a pair of blue denim jeans, Cain certainly looked dress for the place. California was one of extreme temperatures, Cain knew. Or at least, he was told. Of course, after being hired by the man who owned Ma-Ta Development, Cain was having no problem whatsoever now adapting to new environments he was thrown in. He was well-paid, and his employer was considerably caring too. He had posted him to many places from New York's 552 to Alaska's Point Hope, to San Francisco's 42 and finally here, in Long Beach, California, where he would most likely be studying in 259, a school reputable for strong fighters, a rumour that only made this move even more exciting to Cain.
In fact, he had just reached the airport this morning and was driven to his own apartment, a large condominium somewhere near 259. Of course, he had spent his morning and most of his afternoon organising his stuff and had thought of cooking himself up something to eat, but was distraught to find that the refridgerator was completely empty. Of course, he would need then to buy groceries, not only for the snack but for dinner afterwards too. It was late past 3 p.m., and Cain had just reached the grocery store.
Taking out the stuff that he needed, specifically a packet of ham, two cartons of eggs, cheese, bread, peanut butter, a cabbage and a small bag of rice, he paid the register and carried it all in two plastic bags. It was not that heavy, though that was most likely due to Cain's build. Not that he was large and strong, but he had a lot more muscle in his 5'10'' figure than anyone would notice at first glance. He left the grocery store, being welcomed then by the rays of sunlight. It blinded him for a moment, but in that moment, a lot of things happened.
Cain then bumped into a passer-by right outside the grocery store, causing him to stagger backwards. One of the cartons of eggs, which had been placed at the top of the pile in the plastic bags to prevent it from being crushed, flew off the plastic bag, coming upon Cain's blue sneakers. He cursed. He raised his right hand at the male, pointing at him.
"You asshole, wa-"
His hazel eyes widened as he saw who it was. No fucking way.
Fate really did have a twisted sense of humour.

A sick twisted sense of humor indeed, as Gabriel had spent the better part of the day surveying his finances report and double checking to make sure his small start up funds for his business hadn't gone under already but that was less of his concern, the reality of it was that he was in the market to start redistributing his funds towards other students giving everyone equal opportunity should they put forth the effort to work at it.
*bump*
"You asshole, wa-"
Crimson eyes shot down curiously taking note of Cain, a man he hadn't seen since Moral Crest. Funny coincidence in fact because the last instance they were in this situation it ended with Cain on the receiving end of a short circuit volt of electricity. A smooth smile set in place as he was rather happy that he could see an old acquaintance.
"Hello Cain...long time no see." His voice dark and solid having spent that better part of his whiles fighting Qi users who singed his very flesh.

Hazel irises met crimson, as Cain found himself surprised about meeting this particular male. And to think, the first time they had met back in San Francisco, it had gone the same way, though not exactly. This time, Cain was not all grumpy, nor was he going to demand for Gabriel to pay for the eggs or his sneakers, for such damage could easily be repaired with the right price. However, that shocking sensation that Gabriel had sent through Cain that day was something that was etched into his memory, for it was one of Cain's most exciting fights.
"Hello Cain...long time no see."
The man spoke, receiving but a smile of equal softness from the blue-haired fighter. It was quite contrasting, really, how his voice seemed to devilish as compared to his smile. Had he really been through that much since they last met? He gave a small nod, before replying.
"It indeed has, Gabriel. How have you been?"
He asked, swinging his leg to the side to get the slime of the egg yolk off his slippers. The faster he removed the excess slime, the easier it would be to get those that had entered through the spaces in between the material of shoe washed off.

A curious gaze at the surface of his shoe covered in egg yolk already, was that his fault? Gabriel felt a twinge of guilt of course but wouldn't show it directly on his features purely for his own form of protection. A small smirk as he drew forth a wallet with his card calmly.
"I'm sorry for that, let me repay you somehow... You're living here now right? D'you have a job? If not I can supply one..." He gave a rather friendly smirk, his features instantly changed from what they'd been before.
"It's alright, still rough but what would life be without those little bumps in the road?" A small chuckle escaping his throat before settling a hand on his shoulder easily in a friendly gesture.
"How have you been holding up since Moral Crest?"

Cain followed Gabriel's crimson irises to his shoes, looking at it briefly, before turning back to the other male, wondering what was going through his mind. He looked just like before, unaffected by the action he had done upon Cain's shoes. Of course, this time, Cain was a little bit more controlled of his actions and was not going to attack. However, he knew that somewhere inside him, he was eager for a fight. It had been a long time since he had seen Gabriel, and Cain wanted to see whether his experience was now enough to match up to the male's. At that, the man pulled out a card, passing it to Cain, who took it with much confusion indeed. What was this about?
"I'm sorry for that, let me repay you somehow... You're living here now right? D'you have a job? If not I can supply one..."
Cain looked up at Gabriel. He was sorry? Wow, this was a real contrast to what happened last time. Then again, the last time this happened, Cain had somewhat provoked the outcome of a fight. He nodded at the first two questions, but looked at the card then. Crimson Sky? He looked up at Gabriel.
"Nah, it's ok. I have the money to clean this up. Yeah, I live here now. And I sort of have a job, but I still have a lot of free time, so I guess I could use what you can give me?"
"It's alright, still rough but what would life be without those little bumps in the road? How have you been holding up since Moral Crest?"
Cain nodded in reply to the first statement, finding quite true. He had his own bumps in the roads, after all. Then, Gabriel put his hand upon Cain's shoulder, the junior's eyes staring at the outstretched limb for a moment, before turning back to him with a soft smile. Was he really being friendly here?
"Well, I've been kinda jumping around here and there, you know. However, I think I'll be staying quite long here in Long Beach, though."

A smile and a nod on his reaction, there was a fleeting light of understanding in Gabriel's eyes. He'd gone through hell and back since his run-ins at Moral Crest and since then of course he'd met people, seen things, and changed everything about the way life was and in that instant simply realized there was no acts that could be changed only the lives of those people you've entered into. For better or worse he'd accomplished that goal, he'd become strong and even did as he'd said.
"Good to here, well we've got a good start up here in down town a few part time laborers working on manufacturing materials and such but I'm looking to build upon what I've got already perhaps put a bit more money into the underclass workers striving for more if you know what I mean." Gabriel chuckled lightly turning to walk down the street perhaps implying that he should follow perchance.
"As for school ehhh not much has changed unfortunately but you can hope right... I guess 259 is just that kind of lifestyle. You fight and you go on with life." Another break and a smile as he went on.

Cain chuckled alongside him, catching the subconscious gesture himself as he followed after the other fighter, ignoring then the mess that they had left behind. It was no longer his problem, other than his shoes of course, but that could he handled some time else. As for the eggs, he still had another carton of ten eggs in other plastic bag, lucky for him. Besides, he was not going to stay outside long too. Perhaps a short walk with the surprisingly-hospital Gabriel, get a little tip-in on the happenings in 259. Such information could always prove useful, after all. And as for the job, well, at least Cain knew now that he would have something to pass his time with, other than working for Chrynos or training, though he never had much to do with the former.
"As for school ehhh not much has changed unfortunately but you can hope right... I guess 259 is just that kind of lifestyle. You fight and you go on with life."
Cain nodded his head understandingly. Such was a lifestyle that many students under the corporal punishment system had grown up with. The education system was corrupt. The government was corrupt. They claimed to be able to breed top quality human beings for the good of America, but it was not leaning more of educational-wise, but more of combat-wise. They were trained not to be scholars, or scientists. They were trained to be soldiers. The top of the top. The kings of the battlefield.
"And that kind of lifestyle is what we have been living with ever since we came to an American school."
Cain looked up at Gabriel, knowing that he too had had his share of bad experiences under the school's systems. Cain had not been spared either.

Gabriel chuckled, "Ces't la vie." ["It is life"]
He rolled his shoulders back feeling himself tensed up all of a sudden. The thought in his head muttered to keep moving along but of course came the curious question.
"So how much growth have you had since Moral Crest... Just curious to test you is all.." Gabriel smiled and shrugged.
He'd been a bit busy himself fighting at his fullest potential and essentially completing his longest goal. The one he'd set out for himself when he first joined #259. One he was so very close to fulfilling. Of course as a Dragon, once he'd reached that goal he'd never be able to stop.

Cain nodded his head in agreement, though he did not fully understood Gabriel's reply, for it was not English, that was for sure. Hell, Cain did not even have the faintest of idea what it actually was, just that he figured it would be something he should agree too. The tone of his voice was enough to get Cain to predict what he was saying.
"So how much growth have you had since Moral Crest... Just curious to test you is all.."
Cain looked at Gabriel. At that moment, he would give a wide and excited grin, stopping in his tracks, knowing that Gabriel would take a few steps forward. After all, they were walking. He tilted his head. At that, he lowered the plastic bags in his hands, before letting out a chuckle.
"Are you saying what I think you're saying?"

Gabriel stopped walking and turned casually to the man as though it were commonplace to call someone out to a fight. Perhaps to some extent this place had become so desensitized that even a prison would be better off in comparison.
"I do believe so, unless you thought I was asking you out... in which case I'd be best to take my leave here..." Gabriel flashed a joking smile hands in his pockets as he made a bit of room.
upon quick observations of the street they were on, they'd only made it about a block away from the store the street lie just before Gabriel and at Cain's right. As for behind him there was a plain beige wooden fence tattered and worn from extensive erosion of the construction site that lie unfinished just beyond it's placid rest.
Gabriel was completely unsure as to how the boy had grown, though certainly he'd hope he could last longer, the first punch from last time had knocked him over the edge. No Qi. Perhaps he'd go with the bear necessities on this one.

"I do believe so, unless you thought I was asking you out... in which case I'd be best to take my leave here..."
Cain grinned at the joke, welcoming the mood-softener despite the increasing tensions between them. No, it was not that Cain was angry at Gabriel or anything, but it was obvious how this was going to turn out. And Cain could feel his heart pumping harder and faster, sending endorphins and pure hard adrenaline through his body. The fighter in him was taking over now. A side of which Gabriel may be familiar with. At that, he took a deep breathe, placing the plastic bags on the floor, before sliding his right foot back.
"Well, then. Don't mind if I do."
At that, the junior threw himself forward, clearing the distance between them in mere milliseconds, his hazel eyes focusing on the person of his opponent. He remembered how their past fight had gone down, and he knew not to let the other fighter get a grip upon him. With that in mind, Cain formulated a quick plan to get a strike down on Gabriel. He stomped down on his left foot, transferring all his running momentum then to his right leg as he swung it around, aiming to send his shin smashing into the side of Gabriel's left knee, his arms raised and placed over his torso, getting ready to parry or catch any incoming counters the more powerful fighter might throw back at him.

Gabriel felt the shift in momentum seemingly bend around him as he moved at the same instant to perhaps disrupt the actions unfolding before them. There would be one swift instance where he needed to motion and disrupt this duel. IT'd been a long while since he'd seen Cain in battle but he was sure he could live up to the past, perhaps this time it wouldn't be won over by his easy one-two punch.
Gabriel dropped to his knee using his right arm to balance himself and defend his knee from the incoming blow. A short shudder rippled through him shuddering his stable position for but an instant, something to be taken advantage of perhaps. But the next instant Gabriel would shoot up with his left fist fired into Cain's chin hopfully knocking him aback.

And Gabriel brought himself down to block the kick, saving his knee from reasonable damage. After all, it is one of the least protected part of the body in terms of muscle, with only its knee cap to protect its front. Its sides and back were pretty much vulnerable to damage. Gabriel, it seemed, was still as clever in combat as he was before, if not more. Cain gritted his teeth, knowing that his attack had failed here. Quickly, he slid his foot back down to the ground, letting it lead as Gabriel suddenly shot upwards at Cain.
Since Cain's arms were already in front of his torso, Gabriel would have to past them were he intending to send a strike upon his chin. With that in mind, Cain brought his arms together, shrugging his shoulders forward to better absorb the impact as Gabriel's punch found his improvised meatshield. Though, with Gabriel's superior strength and Cain's considerably lighter body, Cain found himself being thrown off his feet, a sensation he never thought he would feel.
Of course, still having control of his balance, he would land on his two feet, simply staggering back two or three steps to prevent himself from falling, his arms pulling away as tingling numbness suddenly enveloped them. That had been one hard strike. He looked upon Gabriel. He had grown stronger. Had Cain really failed to improve as fast as Gabriel had? He brought his arms back to his torso, retaking his stance. One could tell, though, how shaky his arms had become. This was going to be one hard fight indeed.

Eyes settled upward as Cain retook his position, He'd taken that better than expected but he still appeared wobbly from the interaction they'd performed. Gabriel settled slowly rising to his full height from his former position.
"I see you're quick to your feet again.." A low mutter from Gabriel's lips feeling a bit pretentious now.
"Good."
Breaking off into a short sprint Gabriel dashed out towards Cain with rapid progression firing a quick right hook towards his face before dropping his own center of gravity into his heels and uppercutting again with the left punch aimed at his sternum.

A small compliment from Gabriel? Cain let out a soft grin and a grunt from in between breathes. It was obvious to the blue-haired male who would be the victor of this fight already. However, he knew that until it was really finally over, he was not going to let up a tad bit and give this man an easy win. Cain had never been like that. He fought and he fought and he had fun. And this was not going to be any different.
Gabriel then flickered off towards Cain, the sophomore lowering himself as he focused on his opponent. And plastered upon his face, was a wide grin. Gabriel was real fast. Cain would not be able to catch up to his speed, that was for sure. But that did not mean he was not going to try. He still had the instincts he had been born with, and his wild imagination. As Gabriel threw that right hook in, Cain quickly threw himself forward, blocking the right hook at the wrist with his forearms, knowing it would hurt less if he blocked it there instead of the fist itself. The principles of momentum. The closer the point of contact is to the pivot, the lesser force of impact there would be.
With that, Cain would snap his right elbow forward, aiming to smash it down upon Gabriel's nose, knowing that in the process, he was making himself open for the uppercut. That meant that if he missed here, his side was pretty much going to pay for it.
