Well, today seems like it's going to be a good day. The weather is quite beautiful and people seem to be in a good mood overall. Hell, maybe today could be enjoyable?
I walked slowly down the street, my bandaged hands jammed into the pockets of my baggy blue jeans. A small -click- could be heard as the heels of my combat boots hit the ground, for some reason I found myself roll stepping. Covering my torso was a plain white tee, and over that was my Iron Dragon's vest. Dangling from my neck was a pendant and dog tags. My hair, for once, wasn't covering my face. It was tied back in a ponytail, underneath my red baseball cap. So, I basically looked.. normal. I guess.
My head was tilted to the side, and I was just thinking about things, not really paying attention to my surroundings. I felt, for a moment, generic, going through the motions as the people did. Though, since I wasn't exactly paying attention, I.. well, I bumped into someone. Their shoulder, actually. This is something I really need to stop doing..
"Oh, uh.. my bad."

The Bump. For mild mannered Jayr this day was just like any other, calm breeze, warm air around her. California seriously had a lot to offer a girl of her age and up bringing. Wild eyed and a friendly smile as she scanned over the array of clothes in the side market boutiques of down town Long Beach. She was never used to such carton-side vending back in Chicago, it was far worse than this even to a point where shop keepers were all ex-gang members and could wield a hand gun like nobody's business. The stressed thought of coming upon one with a master afro peeling up over the register with a revolver, holding it sideways like he'd seen only in the movies. A soft giggle realizing that it was only just a mix up quickly the air settling in her memory and an excitable motion of skipping took over.
Yes Jayr in her flowery spring dress and small tennis shoes making her way through town as if she was a first time entrepreneur to this location, despite it being a regular thing now that she lived here. Still it never got old, just an exciting swath of new things. Thats when of course she bumped into someone else on her voyages. Darn she had to stop doing that. Cerulean hues turning up to notice who it was.
Dare her eyes deceive her?
"Oh, uh.. my bad."
"Mekky!"
A girlish squeal as Jayr took a step back glomping him entirely probably pushing him over as she did so in her all engulfing hug.

It was at this point my eyes widened. Like kind of widened. Really, I wasn't expecting this, though this chance encounter was already turning out to be a great one. Of course, the glomp took my slightly off balance and I kind of.. tripped over my own leg and landed on my ass, but I was still smiling. So I'd give Jayr a rather big hug - for a guy my size, a big hug is a big hug - before I find a way to get back onto my feet. Not like it requires any sort of rocket science or anything, I was just on my ass and it hurt. "Well, I honestly wasn't expecting to see you here, but I'm glad I ran into you - almost literally."My tone was rather happy, though why wouldn't it be? I'd just ran into someone I actually knew! "So how've you been? It's been a few months, what's new?"

Falling Jayr's quick maneuver, despite its tact seemed to be a bit more forceful that she'd initially predicted forcing Mekiel to fall over on the flat of his back, by trajectory as well Jayr went down on top of him. Her hands plastered to his upper torso while she sat atop his abs with an innocent little smile, her hair covering her face for but a moment before she blew upwards forming it to flop for a moment allowing her to brush it away.
"Whoopsies."
She'd quickly move to roll of of him and let for some breathing room considering that no matter the bulk of him she'd still have gotten him a bit with that measure of force behind the fierce and deadly glomp.
"Well, I honestly wasn't expecting to see you here, but I'm glad I ran into you - almost literally."
"Same here, its been too long, and glad you're here truly."
Jayr would smile brightly, a bit of a sway to her figure as she felt very open lipped about talking, the brief restraint to her trying to prevent blurting out embarrassing details.
"So how've you been? It's been a few months, what's new?"
"D'you mind if we walk, wherever you're headed?"
Jayr's hand gesturing towards the pathway along which they'd been trekking making sure to lead a step in either direction awaiting Mekiel to redirect her in the correct course.
"Um well new job, new place to stay, new school. Its all a bit of a rush I guess."
She'd try and make it sound exciting but with that cool girl facade, like the world was just not intense enough for her because she was intense after all.
"Oh but that thing I told you about back in San Diego, I think I have it legitimately up and running."
Her voice turned excited, the sparkle in her eyes lurching as she expressed her joy. Though it would be quick enough to revert back to the calm exterior trying not to be overly excitable. This was going to get old real fast and she knew it too well. Being spunky was in Jayr's blood.

"Not at all. Though I'm not really headed anywhere."
With a shrug and a smile, I'd continue walking forward, the initial direction I was travelling it. Listening to Jayr, it seemed her life was moving quite fast. Mine was as well, though I wasn't about to go into that. I'd get all depressed and mopy and it wouldn't be good for anyone if that happened.
"Well, if it's ever 'too much', you have my number. I think. I'm always available for.. help, I think is the right word.. not really sure." I scratched my head, feeling a little.. dumb. Though, I really was, without a doubt. Heh.
"Really? Now I feel kind of bad because I was supposed to help you. But that's great!"
A wide grin appeared on my face, though honestly I did have many other things on my mind. I was always like that. It was almost like shiny ball syndrome.. Though not that bad, really. "Who all's been assisting you? Maybe I might know someone else here." Though, really, I was more interested in other things I can't focus on right now for MANY reasons. Though not in a douchebaggy sense of being like 'How are you?' and thinkig 'I don't care!' You smell me?

That little feeling, "Well, if it's ever 'too much', you have my number. I think. I'm always available for.. help, I think is the right word.. not really sure."
"Yeah I think you've got it down right."
Jayr grinned back in response, considering his reply she just might about take him up on it. Granted last they'd met back in San Diego things were all but under control, the only true threat were the few descending pillars who were coping with their lost sense of power as Jayr regained into her own sense of command. Even then though things weren't out of hand. Here there were simply so many denominations and sects it was as if they themselves were the intruders into this archaic society of old blood verses new.
"Really? Now I feel kind of bad because I was supposed to help you. But that's great!"
Jayr would be quick to silence his moment of pity speaking, if thats what it was towards himself. If anything she owed him thanks for being one of the few who kept her dream going even if he wasn't there.
"No don't stress it, though I may ask you come help me now if thats still on your agenda?"
Jayr would request earnestly not wanting to force him into it but still offering the olive branch. Regardless she'd still value him for his worth as a friend.
"Who all's been assisting you? Maybe I might know someone else here."
Jayr would grin, her hand moving to grip her chin thoughtfully as her index finger tapped the bottom lip curiously making it out to look like she had to ponder a grand regime of people backing her.
"Theres a guy name Roth, Orion, David and Gabriel so far. But been trying to recruit more support here as the days progress."
She'd bounce a bit as they walked her chipper demeanor never faltering.

"That's good then." It made me feel less stupid that I got the word right. Heh.
And then she decided to ask me for help again. And I could help but, well, again, grin. I was waiting for it, and so obviously that meant I was going to. But she didn't know that! Or maybe she did know it? She was just asking to seem polite? Eh, it doesn't really matter. "I'll help out with whatever you need."
And then she went listing her helper peoples. Roth? Dunno a Roth. Orion? Could it be..? Maybe. THere weren't many people with that name. And Gabriel? There was a small chance it could've been the same Gabriel I'd met a while back and had a.. moment with. Hopefully.
"Orion? As in, like, two personalities Orion?" I asked, quite interested in this? If he was here, then maybe Takehiro was. Then maybe the rest of Valor, as well! Though, my interest in that quickly faded because, well, yeah. >.>
"So, it's a saturday. Neither of us are doing anything - I'm assuming you're not, since you're going with me and I'm headed nowhere. What say you to getting something to eat?" Random? Yeah. Who cares..?

Time seems endless when you're waiting. Jayr waited, letting her arms sway trying to seem uninterested in his reply as she casually looked back up over her shoulder anticipating that perhaps, just perhaps there could be a yes.
"I'll help out with whatever you need."
YEAY!
Jayr was excited, the sparkle in her eyes doubled with noticeable brilliance while her strut kind of picked up but other than that she remained at ease. Neutral. Though one would never suspect that beneath that facade she was about to explode outward and upward with excitement. She had to do something to get that energy out. Run? Fight? Neither acceptable just yet but she had to figure for something.
"Orion? As in, like, two personalities Orion?"
Jayr would stop for a second and look back at him with a wide smile. The look pretty much answered his question but she felt the need to elaborate.
"There was something about that, Mr. Glowing boy who has quite the personality."
Her reply cheering and joking at Orion's extent. A small laugh escaping, he was after all pretty funny for a guy.
"So, it's a saturday. Neither of us are doing anything - I'm assuming you're not, since you're going with me and I'm headed nowhere. What say you to getting something to eat?"
"Deal, though my terms are last one there pays."
She found her excuse to run, but yet she didn't tell where to, and leaving out the end destination to Mekiel was cheating in this little footrace as Jayr bolted across the lawn, a pause momentarily as she snatched her heels out from under herself nearly tripping in the process before patting town the hill at top speed. The image in her head, Chronic Tacos. She was craving Mexican food.

"Sure, last one there pays - Wait, where are we going?!"I was left with my jaw dropped as she decided to bolt away, and for a moment I was just like.. Duuuhh. You know the expression, right? And then I shook my head to clear myself up and took off after her. Naturally, she was ahead of me. There was no way I was going to win this one - but why would I want to? No gentleman would make the girl pay! Right? That's not sexist, is it? Laughing for no apparent reason, I decided to pick up the pace. Though I was still a bit behind her, so it didn't make too much of a difference. I didn't know where we were going so I didn't know when she was going to stop. I only hoped that if I had to screech to a halt I would topple her over. "Hey, where are we going?!" I shouted once more. Iunno why.

Under a Different Circumstance It might have been sexist but in this situation she hoped that sense of guilt would be relieved with the aspirations of a competition, sure it was at Mekiel's expense both in terms of pride and his wallet but it meant he wouldn't have to be concerned as to treating her insensitively which by all means could turn into a cataclysmic train wreck of issues later on if not stepped around neatly. Though she continued on making it to the base of the hill where it'd start leveling off before getting to the sea side district refineries for food and essentially the beach. The main problem was bare feet and pavement.
"Hey, where are we going?!"
Jayr would jump slightly at the bottom nearly tripping over herself as she stumbled at the last patch of grass falling and rolling down the hill till she'd land on her butt on the pavement. Her eyes dazed as she'd look around for Mekiel who she'd assume would beat her there before remembering she had fibbed about where they were going.
Hah...Hah....hah.
Her hands would settle on her blouse patting the fine little green grass stains before looking up for him with a smile. A bit of leaves stuck in her hair from the tumble as she did so.
"Up for Mexican?"
She'd grin innocently trying to cover up the cheap maneuver she'd pulled shortly before.

She.. rolled down the hill. Kind of abrupt, and I tried to stop myself, only to trip over my leg once more and tumble down the hill, having a more harsh landing because of my MASSIVE physique. Ow.. Rubbing my bum, I looked over at Jayr, grinning to make it look like I meant to do that. No, really, I did. >.>
"Whatever's good to me." I stood to my feet, offering a hand to help her up. So I lost. I think. Not too bad, though, so long as she doesn't eat more than I do.. That would suck. Though, technically I'm rich now, thanks to Takehiro, so there's no worry.
"You, uh.. got some stuff in your hair." I would've gone to take it out myself, but.. Yeah.

Tumbling and Bumbling to the Finish Seems as though Gravity decided it was its day to pick on them as Mekiel was quick to follow for the progressively falling act. Each of them coming to crush their pelvis' into the cement, bad choice in constructional planning. Jayr winced at the first moment before turning upwards.
"Whatever's good to me."
"Good."
Jayr would nod smiling with a bit of a laugh boiling behind the lips that she wasn't being made to look out of place for her bumbling actions. Her hand quickly reaching up to take his as she rose up and stood quickly patting off her behind softly as to not further damage the almost certain bruise of her tail bone.
"You, uh.. got some stuff in your hair."
"Oh."
Jayr shied away quickly, her head ducking down as her hand raced up manicuring her hair to pull out a twig and leaf from the corner of her hair, the other hand quickly coming up to comb through it rearranging the hive-like mess before into the former more defined perfection it may have once been before.
A soft smile turning upwards before she'd quickly search to reason moving this along as to not linger on an awkward moment. Or at least to her it was, never generally enjoying being put on the defensive.
"Right lets move."
Turning to skip Jayr would grab at Mekky's wrist somewhat forcibly dragging him along as she bounced happily towards the front wooden doors of the Mexican outpost or as it was called, "On The Boarder." Quick to reply a serving attendant would pop out to welcome them a broad smile on her face.
"Hello my name is Anna and I'll be your server for today."
A quick dip of the blonde as she balanced a tray under her arm and a rather large notepad in the other. Her brightly lit smile an offset from the apparent sunny Californian beach weather. Jayr would follow a step or two behind letting loose Mekiel's wrist as her hands would drop to her own side making her way into the booth they were presented.
"I'll be back in one moment."
Anna would say quickly teetering off to the back, regular stops between tables to grant refills here and there as this place was a rather top of the line restaurant more to say than an actual Mexican food shack by the beach.
Jayr would turn inward her elbows planted on the table and unfolding her hands to balance her head as she leaned in towards Mekiel curiously. He'd asked her what she'd been up to why not expose the same of him. After all it was only good manners.
"So what have you been up to? I don't suppose you're still living in San Diego."
She'd speculate with honest curiosity wanting for him to elaborate his situation.

I felt the rather forceful tug and was, in a sense, being dragged along. Heh, it almost made me laugh. What was more funny was the name of the place we went to. "On the Boarder." Brilliant. The place seemed pretty okay, though I didn't know fine dining worth anything, so I couldn't really say. I looked around for about three seconds before I sat myself down in front of Jayr, the smile on my face quickly fading away.
I can't just straight up say what's going on, I'd seem pretty crazy. No one would believe me.. and it's a morbid subject. My hands began to shake, but I managed to stop them for a second, taking a deep breath and regaining my composure, managing to smile again. "Well, nothing much. The family just moved, and I had to come along. Nothing spectacular or anything." I shrugged, leaving out the entire story. But dad and the others, and yada yada yada.
"I'm just trying to get my life together right now, I guess. It's odd adjusting to a nice life." Not much to say, kind of makes me feel like a douche.. Damn, that server's taking forever.

Can't help the feeling... "Well, nothing much. The family just moved, and I had to come along. Nothing spectacular or anything. I'm just trying to get my life together right now, I guess. It's odd adjusting to a nice life."
Be it the shaking of the hands or the briefness at which Mekiel described his last few months without any peculiar interest Jayr sought the imagery to not believe him on that fact, but she wouldn't push it out of him. Deathly curious for sure but she would wait him out, make sure he was comfortable with telling her. Jayr was generally understanding and for the most part forgiving. Hell she'd recently forgiven Kazuya for attempting to rape her. Something that had taken months to get over even now still her deathliest fear.
She was bearing a slight frown before catching herself in the act and reversing the look entirely just for Mekiel's sake, she didn't want him to feel out of place here in what he simply described as his new nice life.
"Well now you have friends like me here."
Jayr would bounce happily in her seat a bit of a jerk of her head as she probably over sold it to a zealous degree before retaining her position back in her seat.
"If ya' need a hand I'm just a poke away."
The attendant quickly coming back catching Jayr sticking her tongue out at Mekiel jokingly as Anna gave a funny looking shrug down to catch their attention.
"Do you two need a minute or...?"

"That I do, and I'm glad for it."
Thank whoever you thank for this sort of thing that I actually have some people here with me that I'm pretty sure I can count on. For a moment I thought that maybe she didn't notice, but then I realized, yeah, she probably did. I had the whole hands shaking effect and all. I'm glad she won't push it, though. I wouldn't exactly like to tell her about it all.
"Well, right now you're a poke away, seeing as you're within an arms reach of me," I spoke with a mildly smartassy tone. Of course, then there was the server girl. Anna, I think it is.
"Oh, uh.. Are you ready to order, or..?" My hand went to the back of my head, scratching it in an awkward fashion. Not that my arm was moving awkwardly, it was just.. nevermind.
