Mathew was out of the loop still, his old contacts silent for the most part leaving him to resort to finding information out the old fashioned way, like when he was starting in the Reign of Blood so long ago, before he lead the KAID division, before it's leader vanished. Before Mathew Amtrum was the Earth Dragon he was an information source, a man who used knowledge to claw his way to power, and now he was starting from the bottom once again.
There was a piece of information that had popped up several times while he was digging around, the name of a man who had vanished years and years ago. Vetis. The man that inspired Mathew to be what he was. When Mathew was nothing but a lost boy it was the legend of Vetis that drove him, gave him something to strive for. Stories of his tactics shaped Mathew's policy until he filled the void that Vetis had left. It would not be an understatement to say that Vetis had become a bit of a hero to Mathew, despite them never meeting in person, other than one passing moment when Mathew first joined the Reign of Blood, but even then it was Celeste who did the talking. No surprise since Vetis couldn't talk, or so the stories said.
It took quite a bit of effort on Mathew's part to find how to contact Vetis, it wasn't like they were on talking terms, he wasn't even sure if he knew who Mathew was. What he did find was that he was enrolled in the college, and that he had a locker on campus. That's where Mathew would leave his message. A piece of paper attached to a bandanna, tied to the lock on his locker. The Bandanna was Silver and Black and on it was the gang insignia for Reign of Blood. He knew Vetis would know what it was, even if no one else in this area would. The note was simple, it was a place and time. The back alley outside of a Chinese restaurant at three in the Afternoon.
Mathew was there earlier than the specified time. He wanted to be there by the time Vetis got there. He stood in the back of the alleyway, his back against the brick side of the restaurant, the smell of grease and soy filled his nostrils. Looking down both sides of the alley unsure which way Vetis would come from he tried to take in his surroundings, from the metal trash cans that were scattered and overflowing with various refuge, to the bottles scattered around the ground in the alleyway. Even the newspapers and cardboard hunks that stuck to the ground after the previous nights rain. He even spotted several half rotten fish laying near one of the trash can's.
Pulling out his phone from his pant's pocket he checked the time, it was 2:50, almost time for his meeting, assuming Vetis decided to show up. He wasn't sure what he wanted with this meeting, he knew they wouldn't have a long conversation, they couldn't since only one of them could talk. He did want to talk to Vetis, but he also wanted to measure himself. See if Vetis really was what they said he was, he wanted to see how he measured up to his hero.

Fook Hing 3:00 PM
This is what was written on a note tied to his locker. How people kept finding him and leaving him written invitations was completly beyond him. Shit wanting to meet him was completly beyond him to be completely honest. However this note did not smell of a cologne, so at least it wasnt another strange guy.
He really didnt have any sort of whim today so he went in his school uniform. Black slacks, white dress shirt and a black leather jacket. His low top black sneakes covered his tubed socked feet. On his head a baseball cap with his long blonde hair pulled through the end. To anyone who didnt know he just looked like your average student. If they were astute they would see the #259 emblem and realize he was trouble. If they were smart they would stay away.
The smell of old chinese food flooded into his nostrils. It was rather offensive because of its strength. He was sure his clothing would need at least two good washings to get the stink of Soy Sauce and MSG out of them. Still he was there at 3:00:00PM and so was his would be gentlemen caller. Someone he had never seen before, at least it wasnt a vengence run or so he could gather.
If the man knew anything about him, he would know what to expect. Glaring eyes colder than a viper would scan his surroundings as he waited for something in English to break the silence. Chinese wasnt on his resume.

Mathew was almost surprised when he say the hulking blonde figure of his hero show up. He felt his stomach tighten in excitement at the notion of being able to meet him all of these years. He couldn't help but grin, a sincere smile swept across his face, as if he was meeting an old friend. Though of course the two had never spoken before, and judging by the body language of Vetis he didn't even know who Mathew was. A sad fact, but one that Mathew was prepared for.
Stepping away from the wall he turned to face Vetis fully, his figured garbed in the clothing of the Earth Dragon, the famous coat from New York, as well as his own additions, the bracers hidden under his coat and his pants. Combat boots crunching on a fallen fortune cookie on the ground as he moved. The smell of Soy no longer bothered him as his nose had time to adjust.
"Vetis, let me just say that I know who you are and this is a real honor." He said shoving his hands in to his pockets, feeling the roll of pennies within for reassurance.
"My name is Mathew Amtrum, the Earth Dragon and proud former member of the Reign of Blood. I joined around the time you left, and let me just say you are a legend." He said removing his hand from the pennies and removing his hands from his pockets.
"I looked to stories of you for inspiration when I was thrust in to the world of 552 and because of those stories I thrived, I had to meet the actual man himself and see if he matched up to the stories." He said as he started to walk closer to Vetis.
"It would honor me to test my abilities against you." He said, and to punctuate his words Mathew would dart forward to the man whom he admired, trying to see how quick of a thinker he was. He was sure Vetis would do like most people and prepare for a high attack, something like a jump kick, so Mathew would pull out one of his old favorite moves.
As his body neared Vetis he would dive forward in to a roll, his hands pressing upon the hard surface of the ground to lift his lower body up, hopefully taking the large man by surprise and going past his guard as it has with so many enemies before. If all worked as planned Mathew's feet would slam in to the man's chin in a surprise donkey kick, his body shifting as he fell to sweep his body around and use the force to knock Vetis off his feet. His classic opener, such an honored opponent deserved no less.

Flattery though it did seem sincere. And apparently it was. The boy after his long winded speech went right into rushing at him. He hadnt time to slip his gloves on nor did he feel the urge to. Not just yet anyway.
Still his attack and his rush were from a bit of a distance. The subtle nuiances in his body movement belied the truth of his attack, he wasnt throwing a punch. Perhaps he was attempting to show off to his "hero" with such a fancy attack, perhaps it was that he had note fought anyone who was clever enough to read the weaknesses a fany attack like that would leave him open for, Vetis didnt know but he would show off a bit himself.
With a tilt of his head backwards the kick would narrowly miss his face. The only thing stopping the mans inertia and from propelling him foward without the physical contact to his face was Vetis half extended forearm and his left open palm placed squarely in his back. Lifting his foot ever so slightly he would firmly place it down on that long coat draping down towards the mans head. Just as fast as he was stopped Vetis would bring his right arm around in a hooking manner to deliver a firm but fierce kidney shot that would send the boy falling on his own right side, laying horizontal and perpendicular to Vetis.

OOC: initial three hits recieve zero damage from item set. 1/3 used. 0/1 of chosen nullifies left.
IC: Mathew grunted as the fist tried to work it's way in to his kidney, the mesh of his coat protected his body from harm, however his attack failed to do what he hoped and he found himself slammed back in to the ground, though he couldn't help but grin. That attack almost always hit, and yet it was countered. He had hope that his hero was more than just stories after all.
Quickly Mathew rolled away to the right away from Vetis, right over to some of the trash cans that littered the alleyway. Using them to regain his footing. He grabbed the lid of one and pushed the can away from him to send it sprawling toward Vetis to give him another second to recover, as well as grant him a shield, like the one he used on Unfettered.
"That was a nice move, I'm glad to see you are not all talk." He said as he moved his left leg slightly back shoulder length apart, the wall to his back and his enemy to his front, he gripped the lid by the handle in his left hand and his right was by his side as he waited to see what Vetis would do coming for him this time. Or if he would come at all.

AS the boy fell and rolled Vetis himself would get into his fighting stance. Having done it so many times before it was a learned movement, like that of any true fighter. The shift in his legs placing his right foot slightly in front of left heels up on both. Placing his hands near his face elbows tucked in tightly at a 90 degree angle he would pursue his quarry as he would get up.
The child had some speed and coordination as well as a decent threshold for pain to get up from something like that so quickly and fluidly. As Vetis pushed towards him he was already placing obstacles in his path, and garnishing himself a proper piece of aluminum protection. Sadly unless he was very adequate with a shield it would more than likely end up as more of a hinderance than an aid for this particular adversary. As the smell trash came barreling towards him filth and trash spewed out of the open top reducing its total weight. With a powerful kick from his left leg using his right to help push foward he would punt the can towards the boy before breaking out into a quick dash. As the can came down onto the boy he would come in low with another powerful left kick, this time from a side angle towards the boys lower leg inside and on the left. If he had enough of a chance he would bring his foot back and make it a double kick to the same spot.

Mathew was not trained in the use of a shield or any old time weapons, however he did know how to use what he could find to his advantage. He watched at Vetis made his way toward him, the trash can seemed to slow him down a little, but only a little. He wasn't surprised to see the trash can coming right at him, or that Vetis would move right behind it. It's what Mathew would do himself. Quickly Mathew sidestepped to his right keeping the lid between him and Vetis, the can hit the wall with a clamor and Mathew was no longer in the way of Vetis' attack.
While he had the momentary advantage Mathew would strike, his left hand striking out quickly attempting to hit Vetis in the side of the head with the rim of the trash can lid. He wasn't trained in a shield but he knew one could be used as a weapon as well as a means of defense and that is what he was going to do, try and keep Vetis at bay while he figured him out. Or at least make sure he knew Mathew wasn't a pushover.

*CLang* the sound of aluminum hitting flesh. His hands still in guard position he was able to shift his right hand slightly to avoid the brunt of the attack though it still was felt mostly in the back of his head. He had managed to cover his ear but it still left a ringing sound in his head for a moment. Having used the rim the soft metal would likely curve in a bit as a bit of blood would trickle down Vetis right arm. It was only a scrape but still his opponent had drawn first blood. The sheer force of the blow had actually made Vetis stagger backwards a bit.

Mathew had the advantage and a slightly curved trash can lid. He had drawn first blood and made Vetis stagger back. Possibly momentarily stunned he didn't want to lose the advantage so he decided to keep the pressure on. As Vetis staggered back Mathew would move in, this time sending his own low kick at the inside of Vetis' right leg from Mathew's right leg, trying to give him a taste of his own medicine while he was off balance.

A small smirk slid across his face as the bait had been set and taken. Having expected another attack from the shield Vetis would keep his high guard up. He would step foward into the kick that was being delivered to the inside of his leg turning his leg at the last second so that his upper shin bone would be the point of impact. Had they been in proper MMA or Muay Thai attire this would have caused more damage to the boy than to Vetis but given they were both wearing pants the effectivness only lied in the block.
His left hand would drop down tight to his side touching his lower ribs. His head would tilt slightly with his right hand touching his hair and provinding cover for his face where he had expected the shield strike that never came to land. His upper torso would dip back as his knees would bend slightly whislt he brought his left fist up. The bare knuckles of his hand would strike at the boys unguarded chin forcing his face back.
Bringing his left fist quickly back to his face to guard he would send his right fist foward with confidence since the shield strike was not there yet. Straight foward it would go like a signal to a homing beacon, a powerful right jab. As he would bring it back immediately after connection his left arm would begin to move from the bottom up. His fists still in a guard position his left elbow would travel upwards until his arms formed a right angle and he would then bring his arm down, the point of the elbow striking the exposed flesh of his face. As he would finish the elbow he would bring it back into position ready to strike again.
At least thats how it went in his head.

Mathew went with the stride of things when his kick was blocked, thankful that he wore boots instead of fighting barefoot or something like that. Vetis then began his counter attack, sending a wicked uppercut in to Mathew's jaw causing his face to snap up and his teeth to click, though he shrugged off any pain from the blow. While his head was still back Mathew was already raising his shield for the next blow of the combo hit raising it up just enough for Vetis to punch the metal of the shield giving it a huge dent in the center and causing Mathew to step back several steps least he lose his balance, bringing him back to the wall.
His shield now worthless he tossed it to the side as he flowed back in to a fighting stance on instinct, feet shoulder length away, right arm down in front of his ribs, with his right leg forward pointing at Vetis, his left arm in front of his face. His tongue moved around the inside of his lips checking for bleeding, none yet but he was sure that was soon to come.
"Very nice Vetis. You broke my little shield." He said with a small chuckle.

No sooner would the word "Very" be leaving his lips would a fist be meeting his face. It would be Vetis right fist again with that powerful jab. Since he was a mute he wasnt accustomed to taking time out in a fight to gloat or talk to his opponent. Given this should have caught his opponent by surprise since he felt he had the time to talk he would follow that Right jab with a left cross, and then a right elbow. Each motion done fluidly, after each strike his limbs would return to where they needed to be. Having done mostly high attacks he would try to end this particular combo with a flying knee to the gut.
As his right arm got back into position he would drop down his left heel. Pushing all of his body weight in a foward motion he would lift his right leg up and curve it so his the point of his knee would take the lead. Bending backwards slightly would help push more focus, more power into that knee strike and also place his head further out of range of a counter.

Mathew was a gloater, it's true and he wasn't used to dealing with people that did not gloat in the middle of a fight or talk. So the fact that Vetis just moved in for the attack didn't register at first, Mathew hadn't thought about the fact that Vetis was a mute and therefore was VERY unlikely to talk in the middle of the fight. Mathew didn't have time to react to being punched in the face, he shrugged off the blow but two more followed up quickly, both striking Mathew in the face.
The copper taste of blood was now present in his mouth, Vetis had struck him good, it wasn't over as the knee would strike Mathew in the stomach causing him to grunt and gasp as the air was expelled from his lungs. Working through it the best he could Mather would grab the leg with his left arm to try and keep him in before sending a hook with his right fist aimed at Vetis' ribs. It was going to be a close quarters match now it seemed.

As his leg was coming down it was grabbed by his opponent forcing an awkward position. All though that powerful blow was worth it his opposition was quick to capitilize on any oppurtunity presented to him and apparently the guy could take one hell of a hit and keep fighting through it. It was almost unreal, that same move more or less ended Jayr in that fight and this guy was not even winded.
*Whomp* The sound of Vetis being punched in the ribs was rather loud. *Pfft* would be the only sound to escape his lips as it forced him to spit out whatever saliva was trapped in his mouth. That hurt.
Vetis wasnt a religious man. In times of crisis he wouldnt turn towards god for the answers. No he would turn towards the one solomn hymn that carried him through many a tough time.
I want to be the very best
He would swing his right elbow up his fist never once leaving the guard of his nose, in an uppercut like motion at the boys face.
Like no one Ever Was
He would use his awkwardness in balance to lean back making his body full dead weight, ready to tuck and roll backwards should the boy let go.

Mathew wasn't fearful, he was bleeding a little bit in the mouth but he had worse from biting his tongue. Still bleeding so early in a fight was a rarity, he was pleased with this. Mathew would take another blow to the face from his hero's elbow, it was a solid blow but it wasn't about to let go just because of a little elbow to the face.
Taking a moment to reach in to his pocket Mathew grabbed the roll of pennies he kept in his pocket and gripped them in his hand to add density to his strike and force his knuckles out more as a crude set of brass knuckles. Then Mathew would respond with three quick jabs to the ribs, trying his best to keep it hitting the same spot.
Once the blows were done Mathew would try and push Vetis away from him, hoping for him to stumble and fall back on his ass from losing balance. Should he fall down Mathew would attempt to close the distance before he could react and stomp down on Vetis' knee.
OOC: Using my penny power to give me +3 strength for this post making it 83 for this post.
