Lucien blinked at the boy. He definitely wanted to be free, but he was declining? And in a rather lighthearted way. It's as if there was some kind of shift in his psyche that occurred, then. Lucien decided to press once more, trying to figure out the boy's new paradigm. (Hah, big words.)
"Are you sure, Ari? You'd have a new life, free from whatever binds you. You don't even have to join the Crows if you don't want to, though, truthfully we could always use more help." He added for good measure. He had no idea where they boy was in his decision making, and he wasn't giving many hints.

A new life; it sounded promising, but didn't he already have a new life? Everything from the old one was gone, at least. The upheaval had nearly killed him. He didn't want to go through that again. Besides, he was bound to break resistance if he stuck around long enough, and by now he'd learned to cope with the worst of the worst.
"i can't." Ari said, resigned. "i could leave if i wanted to, but i don't think… i really want to."
He stared into the water and tried to dodge any specific reasons for the sake of secrecy, as well as to avoid anything too personal. The teen had a way of side-stepping his feelings rather than confronting them, because to do so only meant confusion and conflict.
"thanks for the concern though, but really it's okay." he tried to sound assuring; he didn't like people to be worried with him. It was awkward and in this case, could have been dangerous.

Satisfied that there was no changing the boy's mind, Lucien sat back and smiled at him. He tried, at least. There's nothing wrong with trying.
"Well, alright then. It's really your choice." He stated, a lighter tone in his voice. Lucien took another bite out of his barely-touched salad, munching on the light greens. It was a bit saucy for his liking, and there wasn't much variety in the simple salad, but the young man wasn't expecting much.
"If you want to stay and eat, maybe chat a bit more, you're welcome to. When you're ready, you're free to go."

"i should probably go," Ari nodded, lowering his hands to the seat in preparation to scoot himself away. "but thanks again for this, i really appreciate it."
The teen glanced up and smiled at Lucien, and then turned his gaze back to the pub one last time when a thought struck him.
"maybe i could... visit sometime?" he ventured, glancing back to Lucien with his brow raised. It was rare to meet someone as inherently kind and, as Ari had begun to feel despite all the questions, uncannily trustworthy. The boy felt that it would be a crime not to see him again someday, to thank him or something, or maybe just talk.

Lucien smiled back at the young, long haired boy. A tinge of regret hit Lucien, as he realized that this boy still wanted to keep a small part of this with him. This, the atmosphere, the vibrant laughing in the main room. The old world.
"I think that would be very acceptable." He stated, feeling slightly selfish for keeping this to himself. Well, not to himself. But as a Crow, having something like this, an actual piece of the world that was no more, it felt like it should be for everyone.
And, it should. To inspire hope, and confidence. To give a feeling that it's not all lost, and it will come back.
"If you ever want to come chat, I'll be around. Just ask a Crow, and they'll know where to find me." He said, with a light voice. He awaited the boy's return, in fact. Ari might even be classified as a friend, soon.

"awesome," Ari smiled. The boy scooted himself out from the booth and alighted the soles of his shoes lightly on the floor. He did a casual little wave at Lucien before walking briskly back through the crowded pub, his small form all but disappearing into the throng of taller adults. A few moments later, the front door opened and shut as though of its own accord, and Lucien may have caught a glimpse of the top of Ari's head as the teen slipped through it and vanished into the late-evening darkness of the street.
=D thanks for the thread, man. we should do another again soon. [/i][/size]

{OOC: Thank YOU for the thread, Van. Not very often I get threads like this one. Let's thread again soon! ...But maybe not if Vespyr's going to mutilate me YOU KNOW WHAT I COULD WORK WITH THAT. But don't go all kill-happy just for me. } Lucien sat in the small room for a while, trying to take in all that just happened. Even though it wasn't much, just a small encounter, Lucien had the impression that it was vital, on a larger scale than he could comprehend. But, after a moment, he started to finish up his green salad, and water, making sure no moisture got accidentally spilled on to the tarnished wood table. And once he was finished, he sat with a sigh, and activated his bluetooth earpiece. "Brother DeChain here. I've got another name for that list."/thread
