Delilah would stare at Sider for a time before leaning forward slightly at her desk. Bright blue eyes never leaving his.
""Do you know what you're stepping into? The behemoth you are getting ready to fight against?"

"Only too well First, I know. And i am ready to fight hand in hand alongside brothers and sisters of the crows. I am willing to give everything i am, everything i have, and everything i own to support you.(Crows)"

Those blue eyes narrowed slightly.
"That isn't what I asked you.
"The man and the army that we face. Barker. Do you know what you are getting yourself into? How hopeless and dire our situation is?"

"No task is insurmountable. I don't know exactly how large his army is, but to be honest i don't really care. Even if i get rid of one of his soldiers would that not make a difference? I know it's hopeless, but we have to do something, i will not sit idly by while this world falls into the hands of the less deserving! I will not crumble underneath his reign of terror! I refuse to sit on the sidelines while people who fight for good are killed! Innocent people who are just trying to feed their families and live day to day, i want to fight for them!"
Sider went from almost shouting his words down to a more dark and serious tone.
"...and i know each of their lives are at stake, that if i make a single mistake that people could be hurt, or worse, as a result. That is why i seek the training and brotherhood of the crows..."

Still staring, smiling. Eyes slightly narrowed.
"Sean Barker. Are you afraid of him?"

Sider replied by staring into delilah's eyes and showing a very angry expression.
"No."

The smile flickered. The air about Delilah would suddenly seem..less warm or inviting.
"'No'." she repeated. Not asking, just letting those words sink in. 'No'. He didn't fear Barker.
Her eyes remained where they were, boring into his. After a time, she would speak.
"...We recovered the remains from a battle that occurred over a year ago, just a month or so after the missile attack," she began softly. "Gabriel Seran the Nova Dragon and Jaus Valentine, the last Student Captain of Public High School #259 led an army of over 100 students of the hardened 259. The Paladins. These men and women were the strongest our school had to offer. The best of the best. No one is stronger than they were, even now."
She leaned forward, eyes blazing now with anger, though she kept it out of her voice. Professional as always.
"They were cut down within minutes of their charge. Over a hundred of them, hardened fighters that belonged to different ranks in the corps. The Assassins, knights, royalty, common folk, the naturally talented... everyone. Dead. IN MINUTES. Killed by Barker himself.
"And you say you're not afraid?"
The smile dropped from her face and Delilah's hands would slam down, palm first onto her work table and she was on her feet, glowering down at the Warhazzard that sat before her. "I am afraid of Sean Barker. And you, a man who has never been to two-five-nine, who has been kicked out of the Dragon land for rude behaviour, INSULTED the Gods, the groups the Crows are allied with, presume to know NO FEAR OF THE MAN WHO RUINED THE WORLD?!"
Delilah was absolutely shaking with rage now, even as she glowered down at Sidervib with cold appraisal. The sheer arrogance of this man. Her voice dropped back down to conversational levels, but there was still a chilly undercurrent of authority and anger in her tone.
"You're not afraid? You're a damn fool. Get out of my sight."

Lucien kept his head down. Yes, his initial instinct was right. That smile was not a smile.
And so, as his captain said her piece about the old battle for 259, Lucien listened with intent. He had never heard that story, and so he was interested in her rendition.
And then he thought about his own fear. Yes, Lucien was, indeed, afraid of Sean Barker. After seeing him for the first time, that day, months ago, he realized how vulnerable he really was. And how stacked the odds were against them.
Her voice grew into a yell, and Lucien still kept his head down. It was unbearable to hear, and had it been him in Sidervib's seat, he would have had an emotional breakdown. And then, she told him to leave.
Lucien looked up, and finally ventured a glance towards Sidervib's face, to see his next move. If needed, he would protect his captain with his own life.

Sider calmly sttod up and bowed respectfully, showing no signs or intent of doing anything rash, he spoke softly.
"We gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face... we must do that which we think we cannot." He quoted.
"I know it's hopeless and if i was to face him one on one, i would surely die. But i do not fear any one man, for it will be my fear that will be my undoing, and eventually would cause my downfall. Can you tell me a logical reason why i should fear barker? what i could benefit from fearing him?"
Sider stood there, ready to leave if asked a second time, but he found that rejection because he didn't fear someone completely illogical.

Her upper lip twisted slightly as Sider rose as well to match his gaze with hers. Her nostrils flared. Her hands clenched. The mechanic was restraining herself. If he had not bowed, she might have thrown him out herself.
"You mistake fear to be a weakness," she responded with an icy bite in her voice. "To not fear someone as strong as he is, whose excersize of power has wrought ruination on not just a school or a country, but the WORLD is sheer arrogance. Fearing the nature of such a man is prudence. Caution. It is also humbling, a concept which you seem disinclined to adhere to.
"That fear is what prevents us from harboring and growing more who would be like Barker. Fear keeps that selfish desire in check. Fear also gives you a reason to live. Fear that you might lose your loved ones, your friends, your own life in this war keeps you ALIVE.
"That you do not see this is evident in the way you treat those who would help you. Our allies, the Dragons and the Gods, whom you have insulted and are among the most powerful of those still left alive, have seen this. And yet you still lack humility.
"And how dare you misuse such a quote. Mrs. Roosevelt's words mean that it's alright to be afraid as long as you face your fear. Fear is why we fight, for without the threat of losing what we love most, we have nothing with which to divide ourselves from Barker. 'Looking fear in the face' does not mean ignoring the consequences of your actions; it means acknowledging your fear and accepting your mortality and not allowing that terror of the unknown to overwhelm you. "
Delilah pressed her palms flat on the table as she leaned forward, hissing, "I have no use for a boy who is so willfully ignorant of the world around him that he cannot understand why fearing the very thing that has killed so many would shape him to becoming a better man.
"Now. Get. OUT.."
She would not say it a third time.

Sider stayed silent as he walked slowly to the door to her office, he opened it then thought to himself, This isn't the way that i'm supposed to do this, you have GOT to get your head on straight man, or delilah's gonna kill you! Focus!
Sider turned around and looked at delilah only for a half second before taking a knee and placing his left fist on the ground as the most humble sign of respect a warhazzard can give.
"Delilah, First of Crows, I ask your forgiveness, i'm afraid my ignorance has blinded me in the flawed ways that i have been tought, you see...i never had a mom or dad growing up, i never had parents teaching me the difference between right and wrong, i only had shark and smiles, they were my friends, and if i had gone through better training, if only i had learned as fully as you have learned, maybe...just maybe they would still be alive. I seek your training now to learn that trait which i am blind to First, I seek humility, i seek guidance. I beg of you, for the sake of my family that still yet breathes, for the sake of all the other crows' families that due to my actions may get to breathe several more times, teach me, oh wise one, for i know not what i do."
Sider stayed kneeling down and would not move until a response was given, delilah had tought him before how to center himself, how to control himself, how to meditate. Right now he was giving off a very respectful aura, humble, and somewhat fearful.

Her eyes widened slightly at Sider's words, and how he knelt in front of her. Now was the SECOND time he had refused to obey her, disrespecting her by not leaving her office when she had made it very clear that to do otherwise may not have been the best decision. Her mind wandered for a moment.
Had she been David Blaze, this man would have been throttled straight out of his territory and into Barker land without so much as a second thought. He may even have killed him.
Had she been Leon Sudeki...well, the man was a wildcard. He either would have been cooked alive or given a slice of pizza. Hard to know. Leaning towards the former.
Had it been 'Unfettered'...well, that didn't matter. The moment Sidervib had disrespected her leader, she would have hauled him out of the office by his throat, and would be completely justified in doing so.
But she also had a feeling none of these men would be disrespected so. Was it because she was a woman or because she was nice? The deal with the Dragon's came to mind; how they hadn't wanted to ally with her because she was ONLY a First and not a full fledged Zero. People walking all over her simply because she wasn't the 'titled leader'. That was how this felt.
Her fists clenched, and her nails dug into her palms as she stared at the exposed back of his neck. Her eyes moved to the sword sitting not so far away on a bench. It would be so easy.
She sighed inwardly. Goddammit.
Delilah stormed around her side of the desk, past Lucien and grabbed onto Sider's hair roughly. With a slight beckoning gesture to Lucien, she would begin dragging him forcibly out of her office, completely ignoring any screaming or indications of his discomfort. She was through giving any fucks.
"Sidervib Warhazzard, you are not fit to be called Crow," she intoned gravely as she walked, continuing to drag him by his hair. Her pace was brisk; he might even get a little road rash from the walk, and would certainly be unable to stand. "Your continued disrespect has earned you banishment from Crow territory on a permanent basis...unless you meet the following conditions.
"Reach a suitable agreement for apology with the Dragon's and the Gods, to those you have insulted. When I have a suitable report from those groups, then and ONLY THEN will you be allowed back into our territory.
"But you will NOT be a Crow."
Out of the base now. Crows and citizens alike would watch as Sider was unceremoniously dragged over the broken asphalt by the First Crow, as though she were taking out the trash. She was speed-walking at a rate that was faster than most people's running.
"Instead, you will be allowed to serve in Crow territory as a citizen working for the greater good. Only when you have earned the designation as Brother in the eyes of our organization will you be allowed THE CHANCE to become a full-fledged Crow."
Dragging him backwards over a curb. Because she was PISSED.
"Until I have received nothing short of a 'glowing review' from everyone you need to apologise to, if you step foot onto Crow lands MY ARCHERS WILL FIRE ON SIGHT. Then and only then, you may begin to attempt to redeem yourself to me."
At the edge of Crow territory now, Delilah would stop, drop her hand to the collar of his shirt, and then throw the young man over her border with one hand. Without a glance or confirmation of anything else, Delilah would simply turn her heel and walk back toward the 'Nest, speaking a quick word to the guards stationed at the entrance.
Fuming.
I am WAY too fuckin' nice.

Look To The Crows' Rules * * * * * * * * * * * * * Tai would knock on "Unfettered's" door a few hours later, only to be promptly let in by the Zero with a smile. Unceremoniously, a stack of papers hiding underneath the Drill Sergeant's arm would tossed on the German's desk. A half-smile was plastered on Tai's face as he placed his hand on his left hip."Hey, have you fuckin' heard the news, boss?"The German would be striding over the desk, straightening up the papers, sorting through them. Oddly enough... all of the notable names were sprawled out in what appeared to be a disorganized slop. "Unfettered" would be deadpan."Ja. Das temporary excommunication of das recruit hopeful, ja?"Tai reached up to scratch the back of his own head as he leaned to the left a little, staring in amused confusion at his old boss."Yeah, fuckin' Delilah threw that kid out. Some of the other Militia thought she was a bit too fuckin' harsh---Fuckin' archers? I mean, fuckin' seriously?"...The German would slip his old comrade a quiet smile as he bent over the papres."Nein, it vas not out of line at all."Slowly, the German turned his head to face Tai, an oddly sinister smile on his face. One of approval."...After all, disrespecting our First? He might as vell have been disrespecting me."A chill ran up Tai's back as he stared at the Zero's unnervingly cold smile. A drop of sweat formed on the back of his neck at the... weight that the First really had with their Zero."You can leave now, Tai.~"For some reason, in lieu of Delilah's dismissal of the recruit, the drill sergeant found himself marching right on out of "Unfettered's" room... in a hurry.
