Suddenly, Jenesis finds the water freezing around her! Which doesn't sound too odd, except she's in California. And the weather is warm. What does she do?

Hm... TIME TO GO HOME TO DADDY. She gets out of the pond because that's kind of weird and freaky. But just in case, she activates her Qi.

Just as Jenesis gets out of the pond, icicles form from the ice, and encase her right leg, holding her in place and preventing her from moving! The ice also starts to slowly move up her leg, trying to freeze her solid! What does she do?

Oddly enough, it works, and the ice begins to melt enough that she can free her leg and get away. One may never know if it was actually from her Qi, or the shouting.
But wait, there's more! The melted ice reforms into spikes and lunges out towards Jenesis, to try and encase her in solid ice! What does she do?

She would turn them into pandas but lunging ice pandas sound painful too.
She manipulates the water and tugs it in front of her, turning it into ice as a sort of protective shield to give her time to get out of the water!

The lunging pandas slam into her ice wall, shattering into tiny pieces! She has all the time she needs to get out of the water! Once she does, as if the ice was listening to her, it recedes, soon turning back into plain ol' water. She feels stronger, and has a little bit of snow falling down around her!
