If he never inquired she would possibly never tell. Unless the subject was to come up in some form or another. Questions never had to be completely direct. Indirect questions led to the answers one wanted most of the time. Her hues stared practically blankly at him. Amara chose to show no kind of real emotion to him. It was a bit of a defense mechanism with her. Amara watched and listened not interrupting. She took in every little movement probably more than others did. She believed in the unsaid more than the said. There was a lot one could get from those little moments. It was a bit strange him not knowing where he was, yet at the same time it wasn't all the same. There were many reasons for him not knowing. She did find him in a crater stark nude so.
"Yes, true I didn't, but that was my choice. Yes they would've been a bit worse considering the conditions in which you were found."
She would turn and take a step up the steps.
"As for where?.. New York.. Come."
With that she'd walk up and back inside. No she hadn't forgotten about the wolf, that she would take care of soon. Currently she wanted to proceed with caution and she wasn't so keen on being outside with him right now. She had questions and wasn't afraid of asking come the time.

Rai smiled and nodded as she spoke.
"Ah, New York, my master spent some time there, I always wanted to go but I never really got the time... Mostly due to the world going to hell and-"
Rai spoke as he followed her inside but as soon as he walked past the threash hold of the cabin he stopped mid step, and mid sentence, as everything clicked...
"New York?! How the hell did I end up here? I was..."
He would run through the scenario in his head trying to figure out what the hell was going on.
"How did... I didn't think there was such a thing as a porter who was powerful enough to teleport themselves as well as another..."
Rai mumbled to himself.
"And so far... California to New York... thats one hell of a cross country treck..."
Rai would continue to mumble to himself practically forgetting that Amara was even there.

He was a smiley individual wasn't he? Amara stayed a bit more alert around overly smiley people. Something about their cheerfulness in certain situations was a little unsettling to her at times. She wasn't an emotionless individual. She smiled and had a good time like most. But then again when something you once knew gets turned into something foreign it starts to change you. For better or worse. Her footsteps paused as she began hearing him ramble on once it seemed reality had set in. So he was a talkative one as well who just spat out his thoughts. Amara turned to face him still with no true expression still just watching until her brow perked at him mentioning a porter and California to New York.
"California? A teleporter? Should I be concerned about helping you? What exactly are you involved with that you're talking about a teleporter?"
There wasn't any source of fear in her tone. No true concern. If anything there was intrigue. A need or want to just know.

"Hmm?"
Rai looked up as she spoke being knocked out of his own little world.
"Oh I'm sorry I guess this all a bit confusing... Uhm, well this would be easier if my Qi was working..."
Rai said looking at his hand still curious as to why he couldn't summon his blood to his command.
But thats when a thought hit him and he remembered his dream that he had... if it was a dream... Either way guess he could test it out now.
"Well lets see if this works..."
Rai focused as though he were about use his Qi as usual but instead he focused the power to manifest in his eye. Which would cause his eye to activate. Amara, if she were watching Rai, might notice as a tribal tattoo would appear around his eye. Then Rai curious to see if it worked would open his eye revealing a black and gold eye that looked more like a wolfs eye than a humans. Upon doing this Rai could see Amara's aura and qi flow.
"Whoa... well thats interesting... Uhm... Oh! Sorry this is my family's hidden Qi technique. Everyone has the ability to activate a Qi power but not everyone has the will or strength to see it through."
Rai would wait to let his words sink in before continuing, raising a hand if she started to speak, so as to suggest she wait for him to finish talking.
"The reason I showed you this first is because it will be easier for me to explain my story without you rolling your eyes and saying 'whatever' and 'yeah right' every few minutes."
Rai would tell his story about how he was from California and that he was part of a gang there known as the Dragons. He would tell her about how life was there and their fights against Barker who was behind the world going to shit. Then on to Strike being behind everything and turning the power back on and putting up this false sense of security to the general populace to make them think everyone one else were the bad guys. Then Rai got to explaining how they had been fighting to protect his friends in the Crows against Barker troops and getting separated from his Aunt and Uncle, to fighting the the random experiment that could teleport and how their tussle ended with him waking up to see Amara and finding out he was in New York.
"And thats that, so you now have a general idea about me... I guess you could say, or more I guess I've explained the grim outlook of whats going on in California... Which I should be getting back to soon... Some how."

Unfazed.
She watched him as he again looked at his hands puzzled once more. He was a qi user. That wasn't as interesting as some might find it to be but that was because it wasn't a truly uncommon thing to her. Amara did indeed take much notice to the tribal markings starting to appear over his eye and once he opened it the black and gold wolf like orbs. Just as she was about to open her mouth to speak he raised a hand and continued. She found it to be a tad rude, well more so the following statement than the actual gesture. Arms folded with the gun resting more on top. Weight shifting to the right as she dryly spoke.
"I'm familiar with the concept of Qi."
It was practically a mutter under her breath though audible nevertheless. Maybe she was a little irritated that he would assume she held an ignorance to it. Nor did she appreciate the fact that he tried to read and label her already. Believing she would just write him off. He was starting on the wrong foot indeed. To think she saved him. Protected him.
Though her question was small, requiring the most simplistic of answers he felt the need to almost practically spin his whole life story to her. Amara could've been anyone. What if she truly knew who he was and was there to kill him? Just because she tried to help didn't mean so much. He spoke about Barker which that name she heard. Strike was a new addition of information. He spoke about Dragons and Crows which sounded like some fairy tale story if he hadn't before mention them being gangs in California. He got separated from his aunt and uncle and a experimentation with the power to teleport brought him to New York during a struggle. Clearly she had much to think about from his words. But considering the minor insult from early; at least she felt that way; she offered him nothing much than a simple reply.
"Sounds exhausting."
Amara turned gracefully around and walked into the kitchen area placing the gun in the back of her pants for the time being. It wasn't that she didn't believe him but it was possible that he still got that vibe from her considering her lack of true expression or response. If he followed behind he would find her simply taking out some food to cook and something to drink from them both. Followed by a bowl and some already cooked meat which was for the injured wolf. She filled the bowl with water. If he attempted to speak he would be interrupted the same though she would be handing him the bowl of water and food.
"Give it to the wolf."
There was no please though funny cause she was a woman with manners, but she also gave people what they gave her so. Karma? Turning back she'd start prepping the food while he left. Once he'd come back he'd still find her prepping though his drink of water would be placed on the island in the middle of the small kitchen for me.

Rai felt bad as soon as he heard her say that she knew what Qi was. He was unused to people actually knowing what he was talking about. So he must have appeared quite a bit rude by cutting off.
"I'm sorry I didn't-"
"Give it to the wolf."
Rai nodded taking the food and water. He would promptly take it to the wolf, and if it allowed, he would pet its head and scratch it behind the ear.
"Well buddy, I think I upset the nice lady inside."
Sigh... such was his luck with women. Or rather with people in general, he had a bad habit of saying the wrong things at the wrong moments.
"I've got a friend just like you in Cali, saved me once. I haven't seen him awhile I really hope he is doing well."
If the wolf acknowledged him he would smile patting its head one more time.
"If only I got along with people as well as I got along with animals."
With that he would walk back inside and look around noting that she was still prepping in the kitchen.
"Uhm, Is there anything I can help you with?"
Rai would ask hesitantly.

If he felt bad honestly Amara wouldn't think much on it. She usually gave back what others gave to her from time to time. She was a pretty firm believer in karma. It came for any and everyone without discrimination. Once he left she turned back to prepping and pondering about all he had said. California was certainly ground zero for what had occurred and many knew that. But what she didn't know was how much in a state of chaos California was truly in. It didn't necessarily concern her as she had her own issues to deal with in New York. With a sigh she just continued on with her business.
Meanwhile once the stranger reached outside, he would've found the injured wolf just at the bottom of the steps. Artax was off to the side of the home drinking water from his own dish. At first the wolf was hesitant with the stranger and would not allow the initial first pet and scratch. Once the food and water was placed he'd listen to him speak before tilting his down and taking a few licks at the water. The wolf indeed acknowledge the strangers statement staring up to him with his icy blue orbs. The white fur complimented it well. The wolf allowed the pet though it seemed his stare was reading 'I'm watching you.'
Once more back inside he would find Amara starting the stove with her hair now pinned back into a high ponytail. At the hesitation in his voice she peered just a little over her shoulder towards him some ways from her left.
"Acceptance of that apology is still pending."
Oh yes she did just do that. Sarcasm was a great tool. She took his offer as an attempt of an apology and placed it as still up in the air whether she would or would not. Turning back to what she was doing moving methodical as she did she addressed him once more.
"It's not necessary. Though you say you're fine, I believe you should still be resting. Even Dragons need to rest. After all they aren't that impervious to fatigue or harm."

"I-"
Rai would take a step forward and stumble a bit.
"I guess your right..."
Rai would say feeling the exhaustion kick in.
"I... I think I'm going to lay down for a bit longer... Let me know if you need anything else..."
With that, if Amara didn't stop him, Rai would shamble off back the room he had woken up in.

There was no denying that there was a hint of defeat within his tone. Chalking it up to mere fatigue would be too easy. It was different. She looked to see him stumble but catch himself. She made no motion to move. It wasn't because she was cruel it was because for some reason she had the confidence he would catch himself. Yet in the event had he not Amara was still very much ready to move swiftly to catch him. Amara didn't easily trust for some time now, but that didn't stop her from being a decently good judge of character. Their interaction was minimal so far at best but maybe a small part of herself was feeling a little bad for being too hard on him right off the back.
It was her nature since everything happened. She had to be more harden than she ever was before. But there was truly a heart of gold behind her tough demeanor. Whoever he was he had been through a lot from what his story told her. More than a lot actually. All he had most of it if not all of it seemed like a bad dream. Amara knew all too well about nightmares. Mentally she sighed while he began to walk away. She could be compassionate but Amara had also learned about tough love. With all the stranger told her and his current demeanor maybe he needed a little bit of it. Maybe he needed a little push of some kind. Maybe she wanted to test something.
"Ya know I didn't think Dragons were so easily defeated. Thought they were supposed to have this tough hide. Guess they are just all smoke then."

Rai stopped as she spoke. Turning to look at her with a look in his eye that was far from defeated.
"Sometimes Dragons play dead to lure in their prey. The easier the kill, the longer you live. Its the short, sad, and simple truth. Know what battles are worth fighting and know which ones are worth letting go."
Rai then turned his head away, and said a bit more quietly not really to the woman but more as though to himself.
"And there are some battles that people like me can't win..."
If she didn't stop him he would go and sit on the bed and meditate/sleep for a little bit before coming back out a bit more rested.

Was that a smirk? Oh yes it was. She was facing forward as he spoke which meant he may or may not have seen the very quick smirk on her face before it retreated back to a neutral state. She choose to respond once he was just a little beyond the kitchen area so he could still hear her regardless.
"Dogs play dead. Possums play dead. Dragons on the other hand."
Purposely she left her words where they stood. There was much more she wanted to say that was clear. Her statement was far from done but the choice to pause and let it linger was made. Maybe he would start to think about it as he went to rest and come back and ask about her meaning. The last part she had internally agreed with more than his start.
"I'll come get you in half an hour."
Guess there was some level of trust within her for strangers, or rather strays. But could it be called trust? By any means no. She was doing for him what she did for any stray or someone in need.

"Dragons stratagize."
Rai said with a chuckle as he went to sleep. He'd sleep for bout half an hour and get whether she woke him up or not. Sitting in what he figured was the 'living room', or main area, he would yawn and look about the place inspecting it. Aside from that he wouldn't say anything he figured he spoke enough and if the woman wished to know more she would ask. Until then Rai occupied himself with observation though there was a nagging thought in his head. Dragons on the other hand... Rai didn't think too much on it before just wanted to get his last word in but... did she mean something by it?
He would glance at her and open his mouth to ask but shut it remembering he had decided to not be the one speaking. He would just have to hold his curiosity for later then.

He was a snippy one wasn't he? Quick witted. Slightly sharp tongued but just not sharp enough. Still felt more like a butter knife. Amara remained reserved opting to leave it as she intended. She was pretty sure he'd ponder on where she left off probably. Then again she could easily be just as wrong. She cooked away honestly not making anything too overly special other than some well seasoned grilled chicken on top of a salad. The aroma filled the air deliciously. She picked up the plates and placed them on the wooden table in the somewhat little dining area just outside the kitchen. The table sat at least six; two on each side and one at either end. Purposely she placed hers and his on either end so they would be facing each other. The stranger would hear a whistle come Amara's lips. She was such a tomboy at times.
He would be able to see her from the living room as it wasn't far and once he acknowledged her she'd wave him over. She went back and got two glasses and a pitcher of water, pouring him a cup and setting it near his plate before doing the same for herself. The pitcher then was placed in the middle of the table while she took her seat across from him.
"Bon appetit."

Rai could smell the food his stomach gurgling and his mouth watering both told him that it had been some time since he had last eaten. When the whistle came he would look up and see Amara waving at him, letting him know it was time to eat. He took what appeared to be his seat at the opposite end of the table.
As she said the words clarifying it was ok to start eating Rai would bow his head for a moment before he started eating. The food was delicious, he didn't know if it was because he just hadn't eaten in awhile or if Amara was just the most amazing cook he had ever met, either way it was amazing.
"Thank you for this. Its amazingly delicious, you are one hell of a cook.
Rai would say to her as he continued eating his meal.

Amara might have seemed overly calm about everything he had said. Completely and utterly unfazed. It would be untrue to assume but how could one assume any different with the way she presented herself. Inside her thoughts danced in various directions. She did have questions but she was unsure what she wanted to ask or how she wanted to ask it. Amara had become a rather calculating individual when it came to most if not every matter. Eating her food she tilted her head up at his compliment but in true Amara fashion she shrugged it off with her words.
"It's just chicken salad. It shouldn't be hard to make."
Shouldn't be but even the simplest things some find it to be the hardest. Some people tend to overcomplicate things. Not to say he was. He was just being kind and Amara just wasn't letting her harden shell down. Her dismissiveness was indeed rude but it was just her sometimes cynical ways kicking in. She didn't believe she made anything fantastical but she should've just accepted the compliment. He had attempted to speak he would be cut off by her low sigh followed by a soft tone.
"Thank you."
Short and simple as she went back to eating. She never glanced up to him after that. If her eyes ever left her plate they were directed towards the not so far off window where she could see the scenery and even Artax.
