WHAM
"Ung-"
"Little miss silver spoon thinks she's above everyone else in the school, eh?"
WHAM
"Gck-"
"Well what do you think now?"
WHAM
AAHHHWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Burrito.
And then a blinding headache that made her nauseous. Her temples were throbbing and her stomach churned. Burrito howled so loudly that the two guys, one fending off Burrito and the other wailing on SJ, took off. But JEEZ, this headache-- it hurt more than everywhere else. Her face was okay, she assumed that maybe he just didn't want to shed blood and just inflict pain. But her arms, stomach, back, and legs took a beating- her first beating at 259. She would have been thankful because at least bruises are things one can hide with clothes, but there was a flash of light, and then--
She choked.
"What. The. Fuc--"
Burrito moved and nestled against SJ who was curled up on the floor. It was her free period and she was on her way to the library, and she had completely, unintentionally, ignored two guys that had been trying to talk to her. She had her headphones on with music blasting, and I guess the fact that a dog was leading her didn't really give off the, 'Hey I'm blind' vibe. She really should get a walking stick. To whack people with.
But going back--
She could see.
"I can see--"
Or at least, she thought she could see. She didn't understand what colors or shapes were, but when she touched Burrito, a light went off in her brain- this is Burrito. This weird looking thing in front of her - she couldn't even describe it - was her dog.
"You're Burrito!!?"
Okay, OBVIOUSLY. She moved her arm to bring Burrito's face closer to hers and winced- what was wrong with her arm? It hurt to move it. She couldn't have broken it...could she?
"Ow, OW, OW MOTHER--"
Winced again.
So much sensory overload.

As usual, everything was lame and stupid at 259. The birds were chirping. The receptionist was perky. And of course, assholes were beating up other assholes. Such was the inane hen-pecking order of the school. Which was stupid. And lame.
What was slightly less lame and a little more interesting was the bone chilling howl of a dog's war cry, echoing down the halls. A moment later, the owners of the patter of escaping feet came into view, sprinting down the hall and away from Wren.
"Hmm."
It was a free period. She had nothing better to do; why not investigate?
Wren turned down the hallway to find, to her alarm (which consisted of the smallest of frowns)to find a girl curled up on the floor with a dog. O...kay. She walked over at an even pace. Once she was a couple of feet away, Wren dropped to a squat, peering down at the girl.

Her shoulder was dislocated but she didn't know- she was no medical expert. She just assumed when one of the boys kicked her, they kicked really, really hard to the point where her arm just freaking hurt. And felt out of place. She could turn to look at her arm (which she did), but 1. she was wearing a cardigan which covered any anomalies and 2. even if she could see anomalies, it's not like SJ knew what to look for.
Her head still freaking hurt. She couldn't tell if a boy just kicked her head and she suddenly had sight or if a boy just kicked her head and she was dreaming.
Either way, the next thing she knew, a person - she was pretty sure that was a person - was beside her. (Yeah, she doesn't quite understand peripherals so everything is like MAGIC!) But this person, female, seeing that the length of hair was on the longer side-- she, she expected a little more...variation? She didn't know what color this girl was wearing but it was just one...color.
SJ was having a difficult time processing everything going on. She lived her entire life (well, except her first three months being born into this world) completely blind; color, shapes- if she learned them before she was 3 months old, she completely forgot about it now. There was absolutely no recognition, but she was able to make some ties--
"You okay?"
She stared- she was actually looking at someone.
"No. No, I hurt my arm but- but more than that I think--"
A pause.
"I'm blind, or was- or am, I'm not sure anymore. I think the guy kicked my head and I can, I can, I can see now but-"
She winced because she tried moving an arm.
"Holy crap, I swear I'm not on drugs."

The goth frowned, her septum piercing tugging at the dip between her black lips. "You got kicked in the head. And now you can see."
Wren didn't entirely believe the girl when she said that she wasn't on drugs. Claiming to be blind, only to abruptly begin to see again, was the sort of thing someone high as a kite might say. It was just too strange otherwise. But that didn't explain what was presumably a Seeing Eye dog she had with her. Or the fact that the young woman was looking at her. Right into her face. Not past her, or around her, or slightly to the left. At her. Directly into her eyes.
The girl seemed incredibly lucid for someone who was hallucinating, apart from thinking she was... blind? That she could see? Whatever it was, it was weird. Thankfully, the school had introduced her to a lot of weird shit as of late.
"Whatever. Hold still."
Wren lifted the girl by her shoulders and set her upright, feeling along her arm and temple for any pressing injuries. Arm was definitely dislocated, but that was an easy enough fix. She couldn't assess the head injury, but there was a large bruise that might need to be bled to prevent intracranial hemorrhaging. She sighed, as though personally offended by the girl's injuries, and slowly lifted her arm to rest across Wren's shoulder. She leveled a bland look at her eyes. "This'll hurt."
She twisted her upper body, forcing the joint back into the socket with the back pressure she created. Dropping her arm a little unceremoniously, Wren reached out to touch the girl's wound and slowly closed her eyes.
The unnerving tingling sensation was back. Her hands glowed with a silver light, and the energy flooded into SJ, easing her pain, calming her, healing the bruise until it was a yellow green. Her arm, by contrast, would stop throbbing quite so painfully from its recent removal and replacement, and the swelling around the rotator cuff would go down.
Releasing a shuddering breath, Wren dropped her hands and sat back, too weak to stand at the moment. She met the girl's eye with her flat, disinterested gaze, as though she hadn't just performed a veritable miracle.
"Good to go."

"You got kicked in the head. And now you can see."
SJ could tell by the dryness of this girl's voice how much she thought she was spewing utter nonsensical bullshit but SJ was too enamored with how it matched perfectly with the girl's facial expression. Like holy guacamole she legitimately could not believe the beauty of having sight. The wonderful awe-like sense she had was only marred and tainted by the blinding headache of her brain scrambling to adjust but- but-
"This'll hurt."
"What color is your hair? Is that what people call yello-- FUCK!!!!"
SJ yelped and scrunched her face, the pain in her head now completely forgotten as she settled on focusing on the pain in her shoulder. But as quickly as it came, it was also going away. SJ's eyes landed the girl's hands, completely speechless at the silver-like glow that seemed to just gracefully wave out of her hands...and into her. Her brows furrowed- that wasn't normal- she never, ever heard about anything like that.
"Good to go."
"...are you a superhero?"
But also, she was incredibly thankful. Because the pain had subsided and SJ was no longer in a panicky mess- instead, she sat before the other girl, contemplating several things at once:
1. The girl before her. That shuddered breath- although she didn't know what that looked like, she knew what that sounded like, and SJ was all of a sudden concerned because that's something she understood. She knew what a shuddered breath meant.
2. What color is she wearing? It must be her favorite color. SJ knows that Burrito's coat is white because that's what she's been told.
3. Why does she have sight now?
4. How will she explain this to her parents? Or to anyone, for that matter?
5. Was a hard kick to the head all it took to gain her sight? Why didn't anyone just kick her sooner, then?
6. Did everyone look like this girl in front of her? Did people deck out in clothes of their favorite color? Did she stand out because she wasn't so matchy-matchy in her clothes?
SJ looked down at her clothes. Sneakers, skinny jeans, tee shirt. She thought this was normal...
She looked around, taking in everything she could on her surroundings. The lockers, the trashcans, the scuff marks on the floor--
Completely awe-struck.
Completely confused.
