GASP.
SJ!?!? Ditching class?!?!?
Nope! SJ is a star student! She's on her free period and she decided to wander the halls because why not? But of course, how are teachers supposed to know whether or not you're actually on a free period and not just ditching class?? WELL! SJ came up with a fool-proof plan. She printed out a screenshot of her schedule so she could show the teachers if they stopped her. It had her student name, ID, the WORKS!
Just kidding. It's not fool-proof.
"You could've fabricated this! Photoshop! Technology!"
If SJ could have a large anime sweat drop coming down the side of her head, she would.
"But... I'm blind. I don't think I could be using photoshop to edit images- or at least, not well..."
"Blind?? I bet you're faking that too."
...are you for real?
"...are you a real teacher?"
Or was this a student...?
She really had no idea. But she felt the air felt and she stepped back, and a swipe of air caused some strands of hair to flow with it. Whoever it was just swiped at her head. She knew that teachers used corporate punishment, but she didn't realize some teachers were so...unreasonable.
A part of her regretted moving though. Because now he probably really thought she wasn't blind.

Emily's hand slammed into the side of the students head, palming it and walking him into a wall. He and one of his buddies were filming SJ, pretending to be a teacher. Watching her flounder. Now, the recording saw the small female put the kid who just threw a punches' head into the stone barrier of the gym. She held him there, cracks splintering on the wall around his skull as he eyes found his friend. They narrowed slowly as he backed away in fear.
Releasing the bully she kicked the front of his legs at the ankle, the male being doubled over in pain causing his forward-leaning weight to make him to face-plant roughly while Em started off toward the second male. He turned to run, but in a snap Emily caught his wrist, twisting it with a pop and causing him to cry out and fall to his knees. He dropped the tape at the same time, which Emily stomped on harshly. His phone was now a bunch of legos. She crouched, still holding his wrist.
"You think it's funny, picking on a blind kid?"
She twisted the arm a little more, causing him to shudder and cry, unable to ask her to stop from sheet pain and shock. Em would lean in close and whisper.
"I ever catch you doing this again, you won't get just a broken hand. You'll lose one."
She released him and stood up, turning away and walking back over to SJ. She crouched and took the piece of paper that the first student dropped, offering it back to her.
"Here. They dropped your paper."
If she took it, Em would frown.
"You dodged the punch....aren't you blind?"
Eyes were all pale-like. Yup. Blind fo' sho.

The close footsteps and the rustling of the clothes and sheet of paper- enough for SJ to know that something was being handed to her before Emily vocalized anything, but SJ just didn't have the experience or enough skill to know where the placement of Em's hand exactly was. So she held hers out to accept it, but it would literally have to be handed to her.
"You dodged the punch....aren't you blind?"
It wasn't doubt that SJ sensed in the girl's voice- it was...curiosity. And rightfully curious too, because fewer people were starting to believe that she was actually blind. She managed to get out of tough situations and rumors - very few, though - were circulating about 'that one blind chick that might not even be blind' because that's just how effed up this school really was. In any case!
"Haha, I am. I'm just painfully aware of my surroundings."
Ever since her short lesson with Kyle, SJ has been aware and acutely perceptive of the things that she just never consciously thought of before. Her body would sometimes move on its own accord to avoid running into others but SJ never really attributed that to anything. It was a good thing because it helped her avoid attacks, but at the same time, it was hard to find peace and quiet. It almost felt like she was listening all the time and not just hearing them.
"The rustling of clothes, smell of a person, shifts in the air-- Thanks, by the way! I'm SJ, and from the sound of it, seems like you did a number on that guy."

"A little more than aware. Try trained."
Emily relaxed visibly. She didn't think the girl was faking it- she held out her hand and naturally carried herself like she was lacking in a particular area. Not like a weakness, just...something she'd learned to deal without. Emily had never trained in such a thing, and would have found it particularly useful- but she could tell when someone dodged out of luck and when it was out of practice. Of course, how to get a blind lady to show you that...she'd let the thought roll off her for now, instead handing the paper to the girl and glancing over at the two men who were lying on the ground holding themselves.
"I don't like bullies."
Men who felt that strength was in showing others just how uncaring you were toward the suffering of others...they garnered no sympathy from her. She would watch SJ for a moment before offering her hand.
"I'm reaching out for a handshake. My name is Emily."
She said it casually, not wanting to appear like she was showing SJ special treatment. She wasn't. But she did find the girls in this school to be a little nuts, and some part of Em's brain decided that, if someone grew up toughing out being without sight, she must have something figured out that the rest of them didn't get.

"Mmm... I'm not sure if 'trained' would be the right word. I've only had like 15 minutes of informal training by another student here, and the rest is just...being aware, I guess."
Hypersensitivity to make up for her lack of vision. To her, it was normal- something she thought everyone had until Kyle brought it to her attention. She had no real experience unless you count the few times she ran into trouble-- and then she would literally run out. With Burrito and her excellent sense of direction, it wasn't too hard. She walked these halls everyday so she was starting to get the hang of it.
SJ reached out her own hand, but Emily would have to meet her where she was.
"Emily! You wouldn't happen to be the formidable school captain?"
A grin on her face. But wait!
"I've heard a lot about you in passing, haha. I'm SJ- I transferred in a couple weeks ago."

She tilted her head to the side. Really? Aware....interesting. Emily thought about that for several moments. Being able to dodge someone with her eyes closed....it seemed like something you'd need to be taught. On the other hand, Emily'd never had a reason not to open her eyes and dodge. She'd reach out and take the girls hand, giving it a little shake before releasing it.
"I am the Captain, yes."
She didn't know about formidable. She couldn't even put a scratch on the Administrator.
"My condolences."
Emily was trying to make a joke about SJ's transfer, but her face was entirely kept straight. She never really got the idea behind physical comedy. But...in that moment she also realized it wouldn't matter with SJ. The girl couldn't physically see her, so it would only be her words that she would get. Em put a hand behind her head. How odd. She turned back to the boy at the wall who was just starting to wake up, shakily picking his bloody face off the floor.
Em walked over and would help him up.
"I should get him to the infirmary. I should have stopped him without causing him so much pain...you can come along, if you'd like."
She'd check to see if SJ was listening.
