Check Up [David]

[Arianna Barrial]

Well, Arianna couldn't really say she wanted to do what she was doing - that was, knocking on David's office door - but, all things considered, it was perhaps the most pragmatic path to take. David had more pull than she did.

So, here she was.

[David B.]

"Come in, Arianna."

As the door opened, she'd find something odd. David was wearing somewhat comfortable blue jeans and a purple T-shirt, dark. He wore a necklace that had a celtic tree on it, and his hair was unkept. He was sitting in the window, wind gently blowing through his semi-long locks. He turned to look at her.

"What's up?"

Odd? Yes. Definitely odd.

"A very casual day, is it?" She studied him. He'd already spilled the beans about remembering her, so...that wouldn't be a surprise. But considering everything...it was a little off. "I was hoping you'd checked into things at Pier Fourteen."

[David B.]

David smirked.

"I mean, I guess. You ever seen Leon's clothes? Not like he's walking around in a suit and tie."

He'd turn and hop out of the window.

"I did. The warden would like to meet with you, as soon as you have time."

"Yes, well, you and Leon are two separate people."

Unless he was suggesting he had to do everything Leon did.

...wait wh--oh. Arianna frowned slightly as David - presumably hovering or maybe not, if it was ground floor - hopped out his window. She sighed, her expression shifting to concern.

"...and are you going somewhere or are we going together..?"

Naturally, if it was the latter, she was assuming he was inferring that she wasn't busy and they were leaving now.

[David B.]

David was hovering in the air outside the window, and offered her a hand.

"Never said we weren't- but I figure I don't have to dress like a stiff every day, right? And I'm not busy now, if you'd like to go."

As in....fly.

"I'm...not a big flyer, honestly."

Already she felt a bit green around the gills. She could leave the previous conversation out of the way; it didn't make him a stiff to dress nicely. Perhaps it wasn't completely in line with his personality twenty-four-seven, and that was okay.

[David B.]

He blinked.

"Why not? It's wonderful." He grinned.

"Trust me."

He'd still be holding out his hand, waiting.

”I panic and more at worst. At best I’m a ball of anxiety.”

Might as well be honest.

[David B.]

"Oh. Not a fan of heights?"

That made him quite sad, but his hand would slowly lower.

”Yes, in part. A big part.”

She frowned. Too bad to disappoint him, but...

“I’d rather not subject you to that.”

[David B.]

"Hmm....damn. The country is beautiful from above."

He'd grab the window and step back inside. Running a hand back through his hair, he'd gesture for the door.

"We walk, then?"

”...I know. I’ve been on planes before, and I’m sure if you ever asked Kyrie you’d know how well it goes.”

Something about her tone said...it didn’t.

She seemed to breathe a soft sigh of relief at the question.

“We walk.”

And away they would..! Walk.

[David B.]

He followed, hands going into his pockets.

"I feel like every time I see you, you're startled by me. Did Kyrie not tell you my shackles are gone baby gone?"

He brought his hands up and wiggled them, grinning.

"Smeagol is free!"

"I figured as much when you'd told me you remembered me and they weren't around your wrists?" She glanced at him before turning her gaze forward. "I don't know, though. I guess... I guess it's still odd, knowing the two of you aren't dead when I came to terms with it a few years ago."

That and she had her own stuff to work through.

In time it'd pass and dim.
