He felt the rage burning in his chest, almost like when his energy canon formed. But it wasn't burning in the same way, it wasn't a physical sensation. He'd gone through so much shit, returning home, being exiled again. Finding out his life was a lie up to this point. Losing one of the only people he had when he was at his lowest. One of the only people willing to stick with him when no one else did. And then he helped kill the man who had been like a Father to him, all for the betterment of his people.
His body had been broken, and they thrust the mantle of leadership upon him while he was comatose. He didn't want it, but it was his. And through it all he'd kept walking forward. He put his life on the line to make sure that Cabal was unharmed while his people lived in it, and he'd even taken Bailey into his heart. Not one of his people yet, but she had a place there.
And none of it mattered. Here she was wallowing because people thought she was too special, she was unable to commit to anything. She can't even evaluate herself. She was freaking out over honors being poured on her lap while he continues to carry her and he just has very little left to give her. Her problems, now and always, from what he could tell were inside her. Her own demons that she needs to face, but she is too cowardly to even stand up and look at them.
It was hard to not judge her, and judge her harshly with what he has to fight inside of himself every day. With how he is always the one that has to give to everyone. To pick up the next burden and keep walking. He would carry the burden of his resentment as well, in silence and without complaint. Because that is who he was because unlike Bailey he didn't break down anytime someone had expectations of him.
"We should go back to the infirmary."
