It was a relatively quiet afternoon so far. Surpring, but not unenjoyable. Ali at a picnic table beneath one of the trees, enjoying the shade and soft breeze. For all that was happening, the moment seemed fragile, disarming. There was so much talk of danger, of the Accords falling apart, and yet now was like a small calm in the middle of a storm. Some seemed tensed, others completely at ease; it was getting harder to tell what they really thought of hte matter, if at all.
It also made her feel like something was crawling on her skin, a restless tch that she couldn't scratch no matter how hard she tried. Traveling seemed to be teh best way to satiate it, but she wanted to see what was going on here. It woudl affect the rest of the country, no matter where she went. It needed to be done, even if her feet begged to be out on the road again. Odd, considering how much pride she took in her home, though it was such a stationary place. Still, even she had left it behind for bigger and better things. Something to grab on to, or to make her own.
She'd never really been the stationary type, anyway. Sighing, the redhead rose to her feet. Perhaps she would find someone to spar with, or someone of interest on her way.

Soni strolled up, her eyes closed, focusing on the sounds of the outside world. The day was only halfway over, but relaxing in the outside world never hurt anyone. Using her human voice, Soni sang along to a song that reminded her of fall, her favorite season and one she couldn't wait for. Her voice, being anything she wanted, was constructed to be perfect; like an angel. Not because she was trying to impress anyone, but because it soothed her more than any other. Little did she know it would probably attract attention of anyone who could hear her, which was essentially anyone in a 20ft. radius. People stopped and stared but she, being so lost in the music, didn't even notice. She also didn't notice the picnic table she was a few feet from running into.

Th voice was a distraction, albeit it a pretty one. A lovely voice with an equally lovely song, Ali turned her attention to the girl that was approaching her. One glance told her all she needed to know: the girl wasn't looking for her. In fact, she seemed to be in a world all of her own, oblivious to the crowd and stares she drew, or where she was going. The spectacle was certainly interesting enough. She blinked a couple of times, making sure she wasn't imagining it. It was like the world had gone mad, or discovered the joys of puberty all at once through the power of a voice rather than a body.
The redhead didn't think anything of it when she stepped away from the table, assuming that one of her followers would warn the girl about the obstacle in her path. She turned to go, but stopped as she realized no one was doing anything.
"Hey!" She flicked her hand in a rapid gesture, trying to get her attention. "Watch out, will you?" At least she didn't have lunch to ruin.

At the sound of the voice Soni's eyes cracked open every so slightly, just enough to notice there was a TABLE RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER. Soni stopped suddenly with a wavering voice going "aHhHH tHeRes a tAbLE tHErE." Her arms waved a bit for balance. She also probably would've run right into the redheaded girl in front of her after bouncing off the table. Thankfully that was avoided.
Soni's stance went back to relaxed while she took darting looks at the girl. "Thanks for the wake up call... Music has a tendency to detach me from reality.. Per se. Like drugs but yknow not terrible for you. Sorry about that" Soni shrugged and removed her cat headphones out of courtesy.

This one had a flair for the dramatic, it seemed. That or she was more that a bit of a space case, arms flailing in surprise as she tried not to walk into a table. Ali was starting to wonder if the others were watching out of being enchanted or morbidly curious to see what would happen if she'd run right into a piece of furniture.
"You're welcome." She stepped to the side, having no intention of accidentally getting swiped, and gave a small nod. "I wouldn't know." Especially if music caused her a disconnect. It was a relaxing thing to Ali, certainly, but if the girl gave way that much to sound, there had to be more to it. She hoped. Then she went and compared it to drugs, causing the redhead to raise her brows.
"I would suggest knowing the area before you walk around blindly."

"Yea that's probably a pretty good suggestion." Soni stood awkwardly for a moment. This girl seemed to be a little tiny bit on the attitude side.
"Oh hey, Soni Vox by the way." Soni outstretched a hand to properly greet her guardian angel. Her other hand slipped into her pocket.

Why was she squirming? This girl had left herself openly vulnerable in a strange area, with a bunch of hanger-ons who were absolutely no help whatsoever. Either too hypnotized by her voice or who knows what else. Even Ali hadn't been immune to it, though now that they spoke that was no longer an issue.
"Allison Kazim. Nice to meet you." She took teh girl's hand in her own in a solid grip, firm and confident but not in any way intending to intimate or break.

"Allisooooon, got it!" Soni gave kind of a light handshake in return. She never really had anyone to teach her to have a firm grip. But at least they weren't clammy!
Her shooken hand slipped into her pocket to match her left hand; a few fingers hung out of each pocket. "So uh... what's your uh.. power thingy?" Soni's hands slipped out to do quick jazz hands before returning to the pockets.
She hated being so awkward, but she wanted to get to know people and make friends in this academy. In a post-post apocalyptic world full of giant frogs and super powers, it was probably good to have friends who also had super powers.

She seemed enthusiastic enough, despite her grip. Ali nodded as their hands parted, her stance more formal than Soni's as they shared small talk.
"I study and develop my mana to assist in battle," she said with a raised brow. It was an intricate question to her, dynamics and nuances changing how to translate and interpret the question, as well as how to answer in a way Soni might understand. Hopefully.
"My focus is on melee combat and assistance, for the most part, for myself and my allies."

"Ah huh...." Soni wasn't exactly sure what that meant, but probably something along the lines of punching things harder wasn't too off course.
"I do stuff with sound." Soni said, fluctuating her voice into all different varieties of people; ages, race, pitch, gender, all of them changing. She also moved the source of the sound, and it would seem to spiral around the two girls. Her voice returned to normal as she awkwardly specified, "I'm not, like, bragging, or anything I'm just, uh, conversating." Soni kind of lifted up on to her tip-toes and back down a few times.

Ali stiffened at the reaction, the tone in Soni's voice saying about what she'd come to expect from most people and disliking it intensely. Already assumed to be a brute because she knew how to not only keep her comrades safe, but keep them alive in battle instead of falling like the fodder others thought of them at home.
The sudden, rapid-fire change in tone, pitch, and sound threw the redhead off her momentum as she suddenly heard so many living things at once in a single sentence. The result was overwhelming, her mind trying to pick out the various sounds she heard and to recognize them. She stiffened, eyes narrowing, but there was genuine interest on he face.
"I see." Her brow rose higher as she glanced around, eventually falling back on Soni's figure. "The only person who mentioned bragging is yourself. Still, it was a nice surprise. How do you create it?"

"Hey, I just had a girl ask me about this earlier today. Truth is uh... " Soni's eyes darted around. The scientists that tortured her might know, but she wasn't gonna bring up them. She never really figured it out herself but, she genuinely wasn't that curious. Soni shrugged and held her shoulders there. "I...don't really know." Her shoulders dropped back down. "I just kinda.. do it? I mean sound waves are vibrations in the air... so I assume I can vibrate the air however I want it. But every noise and voice I make is one I've heard before or a mixture of it. I can't copy something I haven't heard... So maybe I just gotta feel the vibrations before I can make them."
At this point, she had transitioned from answering a question to thinking out loud. Then a thought occurred to her. "But hey, maybe this super power school will help me figure it out!" That was a good thought; this school had a good chance of expanding her knowledge and use of her power, which would be great.
"Does that kind of answer your question?" Soni chuckled a bit.

Well that explained it. The girl was nervous due to something someone else had already said to her. She raised a brow, gears already turning.
"I see. Who was it you met?" She had a few guesses, considering the people in Cabal. Either way, she nodded and let Soni speak her mind.
"Well, you're in a place where you can learn exactly what it is you do and how, if you choose." It felt so odd that some people just did things, major things, without study or application. Most of the world was like that, though, and she coudln't expect everyone to have the ability to study or learn. It was to be expected outside of Territory 260. At least Soni was making guesses and trying to figure out what else she might be able to do or want to do with her gift.
"It's not a bad theory. It would be interesting to see what you discover." Soni's expression seemed fr away, lost in thought rather than the present. Ali was tempted to find a way to snap her back to reality if she started walking again, but she didn't discourage critical thinking and application in the slightest. That was how a person learned. She even gave a small nod of approval.
"Yes and no. It's enough, but it answers others I had. And it helps that you seem to be able to think about it and how you use it."

"Her name was Rhona. She had a little roman soldier guy and she could turn into a werewolf. Pretty crazy stuff around here." Soni's hands moved as she talked, giving the size of the soldier when the topic was at hand, and nodded when she was finished. This girl she was talking to seemed quite mature and intelligent; Soni felt like a dumb little kid around her. But, in any case, Soni would kindly carry on the conversation as it happened. She wasn't one for endurance though, and thus she leaned up against the table she initially almost ran into, putting her elbows on the table and her hands together, fingers interlaced.

"I see." The name was foreign to her, no recognition in Ali's eyes or tone at the mention of the other Cabal resident. Though, given the description Soni gave of her turning into a werewolf, perhaps she should. She shrugged at the observation of how things seemed unusual here.
"I suppose it is unusual if you're not used to it. There are living examples of it here, too. I'm sure you'll run into some of them at some point. There are some who have additional forms or their appearance shifts. One of my squad mates has something like that." Not that she'd talked to Oni much to find out more. It seemed the girl herself wasn't sure about what happened and accepted it.
"It's quite a change from most of the other Territories, from what I know." She nodded and tried to relate to Soni on some level. She seemed nice enough. A bit of a space case, but that could change with the situation. Her presence wasn't unpleasant, which was also a bonus. Most places didn't have a lot of qi users around.
"I imagine it can be quite jarring."
