She stared at him for a moment before frowning again.

"See, that's the opposite of what I'm going for."

"I don't feel like smiling, Pride."

He sighed and squatted down.
"You know, sometimes it's not about what you are feeling. Ya know?"

She stopped and turned to look at him, tattered coat flapping with a small breeze. She felt the anger rise and fall in rapid rotation. She didn't care if people didn't want to know what she was feeling. She wasn't here to make friends with everyone she came across.
"And what, exactly, is it about."

"We don't have friends anymore. Or a home. Do you want to be wandering alone forever, or do you want to try and find a new place to call home?"

She folded her arms over her chest at the question. She didn't want any of those things - she wanted her old home back. Only they couldn't, and now she didn't, too. Even if they could go back, it'd be to those who betrayed them. Why invite that to happen again right away.
"I wouldn't be here if I didn't want a home."

"Well, do you think you are going to find it looking like you want to bite the face off of anyone we run into?"

There was a long, long, long silence before her face fell into a neutral expression.
"Fine."

She looked away for a moment.
"We should get going. It doesn't look like there's anyone for miles."

"Yeah, I suspect we got a ways to go still."
He'd straighten up, and put on a happy face. They still had to find a place to call home.

She didn't comment on the happy face, even if she did notice the break where it slipped away. Instead, Joy joined Pride at his side when he caught up to her, the two of them facing whatever was to come. Together.
