T’was the night before Christmas, and of course, Nova wanted both of the families over. Unfortunately the home Daniel had provided her for when they would return to Cabal was…small. Inadequate. Fortunately for her, her parents were more than happy to welcome her back to their place and she promised to take care of all of the dinner arrangements herself.
She allowed her parents and Daniel and his family to chat and catch up as she worked away in the kitchen. If there was something she was skilled at, it was efficiently preparing a meal. Things were cut quickly and precisely, the turkey was nearly ready, having been roasting for most of the day. The last thing she decided to make were two lovely pies. One was apple, a classic and a perfect dessert, the other was a meat pie to serve as a second side-dish for the main meal.
She took extra care to make them, both to impress her new soon-to-be in-laws and Daniel’s siblings, her childhood friends. It had been a while since she’d seen any of them. It was important to prove she was extremely capable and not at all a mistake. Her parents had raised her exceptionally well. As a Vivienne should be.
“Alright, everyone have a seat at the table.” She’d call out of the kitchen door, finally making use of the workers in the house and having them take out all the food she had made. After all of the food was would, Nova happily picked up the pies she had made, as if they were her most proud achievement, and sauntered out into the dining room to place them on both sides of the turkey.
“Ta-da~!”
What a beautiful meal. She could have trusted no other than herself to make it. Christmas this year was going to be amazing, and it was all thanks to her effort. She could see how impressed everyone was. It was in their eyes, even the ones who didn’t readily show emotion. She’d give a content sigh and finally have a seat.

Time to enjoy the fruits of her labour.
