It was that time of year and Sectos had graduated from Cabal's trainee program. He didn't feel successful or that he deserved to be such. The option of what jobs lay ahead of him was a mountain compared to everything else, he needed time to think. Luckily it was his right to return home and celebrate the holidays with his family... That didn't technically exist. Getting to his home in Ayatlan wasn't difficult as all the needed files and information put his home as a small building with two bedrooms under the Sempra family. Walking down the street in his usual attire he waved at a few people who thought for a second but returned the gesture as they barely remember him.
Opening the door he would throw his robes onto the chair to his left and unload his belt with his tome holsters onto the side table, however he stopped at a smell. Familiar, warm, sweet...
"Sectos, is that you?"
A voice from the kitchen area, one that shouldn't be here, but was... He walked quickly and heavily until he spun the corner to peer into the kitchen... At HIM... It wasn't his face or body, not even his tattoo's, but he knew it was him. In the flesh no doubt just in disguise. The world spun around him, he felt his entire ruse crumble beneath his feet as the whole of all the world investigated and found out he was in fact the son of the Demon that destroyed the world. That he had brought the end times and the world of conflict and danger that we have now.
"What are you doing here?"
Turning around from the oven and looking at Sectos with a smile.
"What? I can't take time off from my intense research into symbology magic and fiend summoning deep dives to spend time with my son and celebrate Christmas?"
Sectos eye brow twitched slightly. Of course he found out everything, the paper trail, the files and research papers under multiple Sempra names.
"I guess not. As long as you keep up appearances."
Mage Barker would nod.
"Of course, you have worked so hard on all of this, I wouldn't dream of ruining it. But, I do want to be a part of it."
Sectos would take a deep breath and sigh through his nose with a small huff at the end.
"I don't want to hide from the world."
Mage Barker would nod in agreement.
"Neither do I, but this is how things are."
"Where are your watchers?"
"Not far I'm sure. This was a particularly sensitive and hard to pull off move to come spend time with you, since you won't come home."
"Does your Master permit you to call it your home too?"
Mage Barker would sigh.
"You know it's not like that, besides... It's the same man who likely has kept me from being executed, leave alone my services that have only benefited Cabal since he brought me back from the dead."
There was silence until a timer dinged.
"Oh, foods ready."
Soon enough the table was made and they sat to eat. They talked for the majority of the meal telling each other stories about what they had been up to. Mage Barker explained how he had been keeping an eye on him for a while and would of intervened if he had been in any real danger, but wanted him to be free. This apparently made Sectos happy in an odd way. It wasn't that he was being watched over, that kind of annoyed him, but the part where he was allowed so much freedom to even be in such danger as he was. That's when he knew his dad really did care. Not just about him, but about him becoming his own person, really listening to what he wants in life. To be his own man.
"Well, it's about time for me to head back, it was good seeing you."
Mage Barker would say, struggling to leave the table and walk down the hall towards the door.
"Hey Dad, wait a sec."
Mage Barker's eyes widened as he turned around, mouth just about hung open, before Sectos rushed over and gave him a big hug.
"Next chance I get, I'll come by so we can spend more time together."
Mage Barker closed his eyes tight and leaned down to wrap his arms around his son and squeeze.
"Thank you."
