Mal would awaken in one of the infirmary beds, his face completely numb. He would move his left hand up to feel the bruise that had been covered in medical wrapping.
"Whoa that was one hell of a dream!" Mal exclaimed coming to his senses. He was suddenly very uncomfortable becoming aware of his surroundings. "Wait... Where am I?!"
"Calm down sir." One of the attendants would say. "You're in the infirmary at Cabal Academy. How does your face feel?"
Mal would feel slightly calmer, but was still curious as to why he was in a hospital bed. "I can't feel the left side of my face. Why do I have bandages? What's going on?"
Almost like speaking to a child the attendant replied. "Hey, its okay. Donovan dropped you off."
"Donovan? Aww he's a good kid, glad he looked out for me, he's got a good heart. Still doesn't explain the bandages though..." Mal began to rub his face a little.
"Ahm... Well... Yes, ah, yes ok, so you had a pretty nasty mark on your face when you showed up. Donovan said you fell but uh... Well just focus on getting better, that's all that matters." She knew the truth, but she wasn't about to say it. Someone had a high opinion of Donovan, and that boy could use more friends.
Reassured Mal had a little more information to gather while here. "ok well just one last question for you, If I needed to find the history professor, who would I need to talk to?
"Mr. Xapham would be the man to look out for." The name alone mad her somewhat sad.
A smile grew on Mal's face, finally he had a direction to go. "Okay, thank you so much for taking care of me!"
The medication was starting to fade and Mal could feel the swelling in his face begin to well. Mal didn't have time for that though, he needed answers. He sat up and observed the room for a moment. There were so many other beds and people with random unexplainable injuries. People walking around checking on patients, it almost seemed like a normal hospital.
