History Information
History:
[TL;DR: Grew up with nothing but a big brother, and the two were blacksmiths. At 13 he discovered he had a rare magical power, but within the first week of attending an academy to learn the world was ripped apart and he was sent to the new world. In the new world he experienced constant insults, beatings, and scared away strangers because of his powers and origin. He was taken in by a mechanic named Scott, where he's lived until now. Scott has been the only non-meta that has treated him like a normal person. He now seeks to involve himself in the war between metas and antimetas, and seeks justice and equality.]
It was anything but grandiose, living in Ardhan. The land at the footsteps of Aaru was certainly the less exciting part of the Kingdom of Aedria. However, that's all Julius and his big brother Tenson needed. Unlike many in Ardhan, they didn't have much interest in attempting entry into Aaru; it was nice to visit occasionally, but the life they had down in the forest as blacksmiths was all they needed.
Growing up, the smith-in-training Julius loved what he did and everything related. He was quite the tinkerer; his brother joked that the boy would one day become the first clockmaking smith. The idea delighted Julius and it became his goal to make it a reality. Proud of his talented little brother, Tenson gifted him a silver pocketwatch with an anvil and smithing hammer engraved into the back of it. The birthday present became Julius's prized possession.
On his 13th birthday the following year, Julius realized he only had a few months to decide whether he wanted to retain the smithing life that he had, or begin learning at the Akademia in Aaru. For years he thought the answer was obvious, but now that it was here.. what if magic could help him in his work?
These thoughts were abruptly interrupted one morning when shouting brought his thinking face up to see the commotion. Racing toward him was a man carrying a satchel, being chased by the local militia. "Stop him!" they shouted to anyone who would listen.
Without thinking, Julius leaped forward just in time to grab the man's leg. The runaway stumbled a bit, and almost fell to the ground, but he caught himself just in time. After a flurry of curses flew from his mouth, mostly directed toward the boy, he was off again.
Laying there in shock and defeat, Julius watched the pursuers pass him. He couldn't believe that it didn't work. It slowed him down, enough for the militia to gain proximity, but nevertheless, it didn't work. If he could just do it one more time. If he could just reach out and…
Suddenly, a pair of hands appeared and grabbed the thief's legs, the same way Julius had before. He stumbled again, but again he caught himself. This time, however, he was too slow in recovery, and was tackled to the ground by the authorities. As quickly as they appeared, the hands were gone.
It was so strange to witness; the hands were identical to Julius's own, moving in the same way his did, materialized from thin air before vanishing back into it. The boy was incredibly perplexed. He pulled up his sleeve to look at his wrist. For that to have been from him, he would've had to been using..
"...Magic…" he whispered to himself as he saw glowing symbols on his hand slowly fade away.
"Thanks kid!" one of the militia shouted, approaching Julius. "You don't see a time hand too often! Especially at your age!" she said as she helped him up and messed up his hair. "What class are you?"
The smith gulped. "Um.. I… I didn't know I could do magic…" He chuckled awkwardly.
The woman raised an eyebrow. No one just knew how to do magic. It had to be learned. The kid was in shock, though; maybe he just meant he had never successfully performed that spell before. "Ah...well..eh, keep learning!" The woman gave a solid nod before returning to her partner to handle the thief.
Immediately, Julius ran to tell his brother. After performing the spell a couple more times to verify the event as reality, the smiths agreed it best to send him to the Akademia. He would still be able to train as a smith on his off time, but exploring the possibilities of this new power was not to be passed up.
Before learning any further the expanse of his capabilities, the instructors taught Julius that those like him were known as Intrinsics; individuals who were born with a natural access to one of the 12 primary forces of magic. They were extremely rare, and only one other had ever been in Aedria, so far as anyone knew. To begin his studies, they gave to him a book of spells, ones that they planned to teach him over the next few years of study.
Through fascinating studies, the following week was filled with getting used to and honing the ability he already discovered. None of his training, however, could prepare him for the day that everything changed.
It was another day of training in the courtyard when for some strange reason several mages began running to the edge of the island. Several trainees followed, including Julius, until nearly half the island stood at the edge, gazing across the skies to see a dark presence growing closer. A looming and shadow presence racing toward them. Every mage above the student level rushed to their respective air vehicles. They weren't in the air for long before the darkness rushed over where they stood, turning everything dark. Fire and light hands lit the kingdom up, revealing panicking and fearful citizens.
Suddenly, chains erupted from the ground far below them, wrapping around the islands. They were enormous, and dark as the clouds above them. Julius's heart raced. Immediately, mages attempted breaking them, but to no avail.
"Children! Get to Ardhan! Now!" one of the elder mages shouted.
Garbed in clothes as dark as the atmosphere, a man appeared before them all and opened a portal directly to Ardhan. "Go, now," he commanded. None of them hesitated, in fact many of them shoved others out of the way to run through.
As soon as Julius reached the other side, now on solid ground, he turned his gaze to the skies, watching the land of Aaru. Its usual glory had disappeared. Before the boy could peel his eyes away, a large chain went through Almah, breaking through the main temple. A shockwave ripped through the sky, and the portal the students walked through vanished. More screams sounded as the islands slowly began to sink through the sky. Julius's heart and all the blood it sent through his veins froze to ice, rendering him petrified. He watched the kingdom he had always known — the golden castle in the sky he looked at through his window every day — plummet to the dark land of Du'Aht beneath it.
Then suddenly it was all...gone. All Julius did was blink, and his eyes opened to a completely different view. A completely new world. He was at the entrance of a large white building, in broad daylight. The boy fell to his knees. It was all too much. It couldn't have been real. This had to have been a dream. His heart was beating faster and faster. He couldn't think; his brain seemed to have just stopped. This had to have been a nightmare. He couldn't breathe. He couldn't- he couldn't-
Julius woke up, though not in his bed like he had hoped. Putting a hand to his head, he supposed the pain was most likely from collapsing after fainting. He was in some strange building, with strange balls of light in the ceiling. Across the room was a black frame, with moving pictures inside it, emitting their own light. It all seemed..could this have been what the elder mages and all those above them spoke of? The ancient technology of the time before the Kingdom?
Julius sat up in his bed. He had to think. The chains, from before, must have been an act of one of the Majrim. It had to have been a deliberate attack on Aaru. The fact that he was here, in another time, it had to have been one of the powerful mages. There must have been a powerful time hand that sent him, and hopefully everyone else, back in time. Could it be possible his brother was out there?
He spoke with one of the caretakers, and learned that there were many kids like him that had appeared at orphanages, but none were older than fourteen. To his dismay, they had no idea where his brother would be. However, they promised to put the word out and try to find his brother, as they did with all the New Children concerning their respective guardians. In the meantime, they asked him to stay with them, for that was where he would be safest.
Over the course of the next month, the boy tolerated the bullying, beatings, punishments for using his ability, and punishments for fighting back, in hopes they would give him an update on Tenson. But nothing came. After another month, and several days of sleeping on a tear-stained pillow, Julius came to a conclusion. He was hated here. Everyone from his time was. To those in this time, all the New Children were freaks, inconvenient, and wastes of time and space.
After grabbing what little he had and putting it all in a pillowcase, Julius ran away from the orphanage. They attempted to stop him, but with his magical advantage they had no chance.
Once he was out of sight, he realized he had no idea where to go. After wandering for a few hours, he came across a junkyard. With its piles upon piles of scrap metal, it was the first thing he had seen that reminded him of home. At this point, a pile of metal was as good of a bed as any.
"Hey, kid," grumbled the voice that woke him up the next morning.
The boy shuffled to his feet and put his fists up, an instinctive reflex after the experience in the orphanage. Before him was a just over middle-aged man, muscled from years of some sort of work. His gray tank top was covered in patches of sweats, dirt, and black scuffs.
The man just chuckled. "Where'd you come from?"
Julius checked around him, to make sure it was just the two of them. "An orphanage."
Giving a light examination of the kid's bruises and scars, the man nodded. "They beat you up there?"
A brief moment of silence passed between the two. Julius shuffled uncomfortably, but kept his fists up. "Yeah."
"Figured," the guy said with another nod. "Need a job?"
Lowering his guard a little, Julius stuttered. "W-what?"
"I've heard about y'all. You kids that are just appearing, coming from some other world. Y'all look like you're human, but aside from that I don't know what you are. I've heard the term meta floating around. Nonetheless, I don't know how things worked in your world, but here you're gonna need a job. To get money, yknow to-" the man seemed to lose sense of his words, before he found them again. "-buy stuff. Like food."
Julius was still untrusting, but the mention of food did remind him how hungry he now was. "How do you know I'm one of them?" he questioned, his hands now lowered completely.
The man gestured with his head to the building that seemed to be the main quarters of the junkyard. "Cops came looking for you. Told em you weren't here, though."
Another moment of silence passed. "Thanks," Julius replied with a nod.
"Don't mention it. Now do you want the job?"
The boy looked around him again, in thought this time. He worked with metal in Aedria, and it was unlikely anyone else would offer him a job. In truth, he didn't know anything about this era; he had no idea if smithing was even still possible. Plus, this stranger had already shown kindness, and no sign of malevolence. It was the first time he found a person from this time that treated him like a normal human being.
Julius nodded again. "Yea... yea sure."
It was that moment that began a new home for Julius. Him and Scott, the mechanic, fashioned a shed for him to stay in, and fixed up an old dirt bike for him to get around on. The money he made working Scott gave him in cash, to avoid being tracked. Scott, unlike his former caretakers or anyone else, didn't mind the boy's abilities, so long as he kept them out of sight of business. That being the case, he often used them to help out on the job.
Despite his relentless demands for hard work, Scott was the only one that ever treated Julius normally after knowing he was a meta. Any other time his powers were seen, he was met with fear, violence, and insults. It was as if the whole world was that cursed orphanage he left as a kid. Nevertheless, he dared not to be ashamed of his origin; his brother might have been gone, but his contagious pride of the family name never left Julius's mind.
Another world change happened when Julius caught word that in California, just south of where him and Scott were, more people from the other world showed up. His heart jumped at the news, but seeing footage of the place, it was unlikely his brother was with them. Still, it was becoming the epicenter for resistance, a war brewing between metas and antimetas. After the experiences he had, Julius couldn't stand idly by. Scott supported him, especially now that Julius had made himself into a man.
Thus, Julius put on his custom-made bike riding suit, one he had made to remind him of Aedrian garb, and hopped on his bike that they had made enhancements to throughout the years. After a quick but meaningful nod to Scott, Julius set off to California, eager to join the fight. Eager to seek, demand, and find justice.

Intrinsic Chrono Force
Desc.: Julius was born with a natural mastery of the force of Aedrian magic known as Chrono, aka Time Magic. He has the ability to control time within the universe's boundaries and limitations. He can control time's effects, where objects are in time, and how time is moving in a fix and finite point.

1. (Zero) Replay: If it's happened before, it can happen again. Julius replays an attack that he observed happen onto the same target as the initial replayed attack. He can only "save" one attack in his mind at a time, however; if he replays a punch, but decides he wants to replay a kick, he can no longer replay the punch until the punch is performed again.
2. Perception is Reality: Julius causes opponents to perceive time to be going by inconsistently, negatively affecting their perception. Or he can cause allies (including himself) to perceive time as going by much slower, positively affecting their perception.
3. Fast Forward/Slow-Mo: Jullius increases his/an ally's travel through time, giving them +__ in Speed. Alternatively, he can decrease an opponent's travel through time, giving them -__ in Speed.
4. Entropy: Julius increases/decreases time’s effects on any object. For human beings, it just means giving them -__/+__ to STR and DEF. Anything else receives a much more drastic change (plants rot/turn to saplings, metal rusts/cleans, concrete becomes brittle/cement mixture, etc.)
5. Loop: Julius makes the effects of his or an ally's ability last an additional post.
6.Slice: Julius chooses a very concentrated area to send to a different timeline upon physical contact. The matter he moves is replaced by matter from the timeline he sent the moved matter to. Essentially, to bystanders, he can remove a concentrated area from existence, allowing him to cut through things.
7. Time Bubble: Julius summons a ball of time that he can throw, and upon impact it expands, and everything in its region is frozen in time.
8. Review: Julius replays an event in time but only on a visible/audible level. This includes creating images of himseslf that can act as distractions, or replaying a sound.
Screams of the Fallen: If Julius faces a strong opponent and feels like running away he will be plagued by the screams of those that died the night his city fell. This drives him mad and makes him unable to run away instead he attacks the opposing force without fear or abandon! +20 Str and Def for 4 post, or until target of Fear is defeated or leaves the thread.
