A Beautiful Day (Djoser/Shiloh)

[Djoser Aneksi]

His nervous blush would grow a little at the stare. He'd give another nervous chuckle before Shiloh spoke.

He would look on appreciatively as she spoke, really liking the idea and more than happy to join in. He was excited to work on this and even more excited to spend time with someone.

When the mention of dressing up as elves would appear he would finally speak up and say. "Oh, you mean like this?" He'd say and his eyes would glow. After a moment his ear would extend, and glowing sylvan markings would appear on his skin. Well, at least in illusion form they would.

"Or is there a different type of elf your looking for, I know that it is a creature that spans many mythologies. Regardless I would love to help and love to learn."

Shiloh stumbled back a step. She glanced around, wondering if anyone else was staring as much as she was. DJ's elf was... beautiful.

"I... oh wow. That's... thats super pretty! But not quite Christmas." She giggled and held up one finger. Searching in her pocket, she found her phone and Googled an image of a cartoon Christmas elf. "More so something like this! This is actually close to the outfit I have, too."

When he looked at it, he'd smile, his illusion fading. He'd giggle and say "What a novel little thing. It's quite adorable!!! I would love to dress up and deliver presents with you!"

He was already planning out how to do his makeup and hair to imitate the adorable little female creature. "Thank you so much for the opportunity to learn about your culture!!! Christmas wasn't really a thing in my country even before the ark incident."

Shiloh nodded and her smile only brightened. She carefully put her phone back in her pocket, trying not to shake up the bags too much, and then she turned towards her own apartment home.

"Christmas was always my favorite holiday. I grew up in an orphanage, and we didn't really get to celebrate Christmas or birthdays much, but every year, we all got one small present... The nuns that ran the orphanage would handmake us these little ornaments, all by themselves, and we would open them up on Christmas eve. On Christmas, we would all come together, and we'd decorate the big tree with them! It... It always made us feel like a family."

Her eyes welled up a bit with tears, but she refused to let them fall, giving a slight shake of her head. She looked down at one of the bags she was carrying, one she was especially careful with.

"I know it seems silly, but... you know that big tree, out right by the ruins of the Ark? I saw it the other day, and... I think it's a Christmas tree. Even if it's not, I'm going to pretend it is, at least for now. So I got... I got everybody Christmas ornaments. I don't know how many people will show up, but I'm going to write them all notes telling them about the tradition, and I hope people show up... so we can all hang Christmas ornaments together, on the tree. Like a family."

Dj would listen as Shiloh spoke. He felt a connection to her worlds and his heart was genuinely touched by her story. He would even tear up a bit. The fact that she wanted to do that for everyone, the fact that she wanted all of us to come together as a family and create a community made the tears really start flowing. Unable to hold himself back, he would give Shiloh a hug.

"No matter who shows up that day, no matter what anyone says or does, you have me ready to show up. We as people from broken homes have the job of finding and choosing our family. If you would have me, I'd love to be a part of yours. Even if it's just for this holiday.

He'd break, giving a teary smile and his trademark nervous chuckle. "Sorry... I should have asked first..."

DJ hugged her, and she startled slightly. She wasn't used to people really paying her any attention at all, and while she was not opposed to physical touch... she wasn't quite used to it either. Still, after a moment, she reached up and hugged him back, holding him close to her. She was warm, and her hug was gentle, but it was not forced. She even took a moment to nuzzle into his shoulder, much like she did when she hugged Adelaide.

When he broke away from her, she shook her head, her smile wide and beautiful. She leaned up on her tip toes and reached up to place her hands on either side of his face, and very gently, she wiped his tears away with her thumbs.

"I'd love for you to be a part of my family, DJ. We can do this. We can make Christmas special, for all of us. Together."

Dj was touched by the warm exchange. This was the 1st person allowed into his chosen family since the ark came. He would smile big, and nuzzle his head into her hand as she wiped the tears from his eyes. Beautiful doe eye's that expressively changed different colors. Shiloh was really at her most beautiful when her genuine heart showed. It was in this moment he vowed he would do anything to protect her.

"I'll do everything I can to make it happen. For all of us." he'd say with a happy giggle. "You are still going to have to show me how. I have no clue." He'd say. His nervous blushing returning.

"Oh, absolutely! It'll be so much fun!" She bounced back to her heels, and took a step away, grinning and clapping her hands together slightly. "I have all of this stuff, and plenty of empty boxes at home. We will put everything in the boxes, and then wrap those boxes up in pretty paper and tie it all off with a bow!"

She turned to start them both walking again, heading towards her home.

"And, when it's all said and done, we will deliver all of the gifts on Christmas morning! I'll tell you all about Santa Claus, and we can listen to Christmas music, and then, the night before, we can get together... Ooh, I'll even Adel, too! We can all go together and decorate the tree. I've got tinsel and ribbons, and plenty of Christmas lights. We'll have to figure out how to run some electricity out to the tree, but I'm sure Adel can help with that."

Dj would just jump up and down and nod excitedly. He could not wait!!! His first Christmas was truly going to be his best one. Though to all those words, he would calm down and say with just an overjoyed smile.

"I can't wait."
