After what probably seemed like hours, WR would wake up and weakly scan the room. Their vision was blurry, and their head wouldn't carry them far as they were immediately pulled down to their pillow. They could feel whatever hospital equipment hooked up to them, as well as a bandage around their head. As soon as they realized it was there, they would feel the trauma and groan.

"That's a good sign."
Adelaide would say from the chair across the room.

Shiloh was sitting, half asleep, in a chair right next to the bed. She startled awake as soon as Adelaide spoke, and jolted forward. Yawning, she reached out to look at WR, and her brows furrowed slightly. She hadn't been sleeping well for a while, at that point.
"Oh! Are you awake? Are you feeling alright?" she asked, reaching out to gently run her hand across WR's forehead, as if checking for a fever.

WR would just stare at the ceiling, their head spinning as they tried to remember what had happened. The recollection was very faint, but they remembered bits and pieces of it, and would immediately frown.
They weakly turned to Shiloh. "I'm so sorry... I..." They realized they were probably the only one who got hurt, but they still felt bad for, once again, ruining the days of these strangers.

"Ah, you don't need to apologize to her, I got her out of the way quick enough."
Then Adelaide would hold up her bandaged hand.
"I however, wouldn't mind an apology."
They said with a snicker to insinuate that she wasn't serious.

Shiloh nodded a bit at Adelaide as she spoke.
"She's right. I'm okay. And neither of us are mad at you or anything. We understand." She smiled and turned back to WR, moving some of their hair off their forehead, and giving them a gentle pat on the shoulder. Finally, she sat back down in her seat, seeming content with WR's current state of being.

WR would scoff a smile, scooting their body up where their back was against the pillow so they could clearly see around the room.
"Sorry, Ad..elaide." They weren't sure if nicknames were allowed. They were funny about their own name, after all.
Their voice was weak and sincere. They weren't really sure what was going on, but they were suddenly feeling VERY emotional again...just, this time, none of it was anger.
"You remind me of me..." They would say looking at Adelaide, "And you remind me of my dead sister..." They would turn their head toward Shiloh.
"So I guess I..." ...and they trailed off again. Drugs are fun.

Adelaide got uncomfortable with that comparison.
"I really wish that wasn't the comparison you would make..."

Shiloh smiled softly, and there was genuine sadness in the look. She reached out, attempting to place her fingers on WR's hand, to try to comfort them. She tilted her head to one side.
"I am guessing... your sister didn't make it?"

"I really wish it wasn't true," They would weakly say to Adelaide. It was so difficult to even look at her -- not that they looked similar per se, but her posture, the way she dressed, her attitude, it all touched way too close to home.
Tears would run down WR's face as they turned back to Shiloh, though they were wearing somewhat of a smile.
"Sylvye died long before the Ark incident. I... came home from school, we were supposed to be alone that day because our parents were staying at work late, and..." They would raise an arm to wipe their eyes. "Soon as I came in, she kicked the chair over," They paused momentarily wondering if they'd understand what they meant. They weren't really in a clear state of mind. "And, I ran to her, tried to pull her down but it only ended in her blood on my hands and..."
Another brief pause to wipe tears.
"I was kicked out after that."
They would fall silent.

Adelaide would remain silent, she wasn't good at moments like these, she unfortunately, knew all to well what it was like to walk in on a loved one as they were committing the final act...

Shiloh gingerly stroked WR's hand as they told their tale, listening to what they said. Her smile faded, but the look of kindness was still in her eyes.
"That must have been so painful," she murmured, her tone gentle and soothing. "I couldn't imagine..."
She leaned forward, then, and a sad, soft smile touched her lips.
"You say I remind you of her, right? Then... let me tell you... It wasn't your fault, WR. Okay? I know you probably don't believe me now, but if I think anything like her... I know that it wasn't your fault."

WR regretted telling the story as soon as the final word slipped out. These strangers had no business hearing about their traumatic experiences, and yet... part of them felt relieved.
It was as if the pain they were feeling was now accompanied by comfort, as if the sudden (albeit temporary) cleansing of anger was exactly what they needed to grieve their losses. Though they were at a point where they couldn't really control what they said, so none of that even really mattered, did it?
They smiled weakly at Shiloh.
"I just wish I could have said goodbye... to tell her how much she meant to me before..." They would stutter an incomprehensible last bit, because it hurt too much to say aloud. They didn't blame themself for her death. They blamed themself for her dying angrily.
"And I've been so fucking angry since then. So... mad at the world, so cold and distant. So far away from everything that tried to connect with me." They would choke up as they tried to continue.

"Because how dare a world that would drive someone so special to end it all... continue to exist after losing one of it's brightest lights."
Adelaide would say barely louder than a whisper. Her thoughts once again turned to her mother...

Shiloh glanced back to Adelaide, and there was genuine sadness in her. She wanted to reach out, to bring her best friend over so they could all sit together.
"I... Why don't you tell her? Right now?" She finally murmured, though whether she was only talking to WR or to both them and Adelaide wasn't quite clear. "She can still hear you, you know. She lives on, in your heart and in your memories... so why don't we sit here, and... you can just speak to her. Tell her you love her. Tell her all of the things you haven't been able to tell her."
She squeezed WR's hand gently and smiled. "I'll sit here with you while you do. So you don't have to be alone."
