History Information
History: when sybil was 12, she was sent to the new world. Beforehand, in the old world, sybil lived in a small cabin with her aunt Meditade. Her aunt was cold and bitter, but the only family member who offered to take her in at age 7. Sybil’s mother and father loved her a lot, but not enough to take her with them when they went exploring the world. They never told her why they left or why they couldn’t take her, they just… left. And never came back. No one knew if they were alive and exploring still, if they ran away to start a new life, or simply died. She was too young to remember her last name years later, and her aunt never bothered to remind her. She said that Syd’s parents did not have a legacy worth remembering.
Though her aunt was not a warm and comforting figure to grow up with, Sybil became tough and self sufficient. If she was hurt, she bandaged herself. If she was hungry, she would make food for herself. If she left and was gone for days, when she came back her aunt would ask no questions or raise any concerns. So Syd knew that if her aunt was still alive, she would not care that she would never be able to come back home. And she was at peace with that.
When she was transported to the new world, she appeared in the middle of a country highway bridge, in the middle of nowhere. She was standing on shaky knees, and looked up just soon enough to see a motorcycle swerve. Skidding, the driver was thrown off of their bike and flew into the large lake they were driving over. Syd was too confused to question anything. She jumped in the water after the driver, and underestimated his weight. Struggling to stay above surface, she stuck her hand up and quickly traced a rune in the air somewhere towards shore. A large vine from the ground came shooting to them so she could pull them to up and on dry land again.
The driver was a man in his early 20s, and he was barely conscious. He was confused and dazed, but so was Syd. She was just now able to look at her surroundings and take everything in. She didn’t know what device he was driving. She didnt recognize the building structure of the road, and didnt recognize just the… atmosphere. Every color was different, even the air felt differently in her lungs. Her qi was more difficult to use, it didnt come as naturally. She had to focus more.
The man’s name was Drew, and his family was part of the mafia in Sicily, Italy. Drue was similar to her aunt in that he wasn’t warm or loving and took her in, but different in that he was very protective. Almost immediately he decided that she was part of his family, and she was his responsibility to protect. Syd explained where she came from on the bike ride to his house, and strangely Drew believed her. After all, he saw the vine with his own eyes. Though, he told her to never do that ‘thing’ around his family. He would never let her be used as a weapon, he said.
Syd spent two years with Drew. It took only a week for him to call her ‘little sis’, and for him to “buy” (or steal, she wasnt sure and didnt care which) her all of the furniture and clothes she could possibly want. He transformed his home gym room to her own room with a private bathroom and balcony, and hired extra security to keep her safe from his enemies. Suppressing her qi for two years was difficult. Syd itched to use it, to practice, to see what she could do. She could, in closed doors. But she wanted to know what she could do against another person. If she could defend herself.
Syd thought if she went out at night, then she wouldn’t attract attention to. But when a car pulled up next to her on the side of the street where she was walking and men charged from inside towards her… It was difficult to ignore what the outcome was. She panicked, and drew the ‘fire’ rune. The whole vehicle went up in flames, as well as the men. A few people walking a distance away turned and stared. Stunned, it took a minute before they ran to a local police department, and the incident was put on the news. Drew was furious, but mostly at the men who attacked her. He said they deserved what happened.
Then she was approached by men in white. They offered to take Sybil somewhere where she could be taught… where someone knew about her qi and how to train her. Drew was reluctant to let her go, but knew it was best. It was unsafe for him to keep in contact with her, as he didnt want her being tracked by anyone with a vendetta against him. When she left he kissed her on the forehead and gave her one piece of advice.
“If anyone ever tells you that you cant do something, prove them wrong. They only say that because they’re afraid of what will happen to them if you do.”
