Soup Chef (Dime)

[Adelaide]

"Ar- I mean... were you... optimized?"

She would ask now suddenly very concerned.

[Dime Price]

She chuckled. “No actually... I missed my appointment a couple of times. As I was given a different path.”

[Adelaide]

"What do you mean?"

She asked before she hesitated.

"Oh, I'm sorry that's probably none of my business..."

[Dime Price]

“Oh no, it’s fine, to be honest the path I chose dealt with a more secret society. We’d take our own kings blood into ourselves and be gifted with a way to manipulate it. Much in the same way he did, it was an incredible honor for me to have even been considered.” She had grown a wide and proud smile. “Now I am doubtful any of my mentors or peers had survived the catastrophe so I’ve received this power and most certainly have to figure out how to use it without their aid.” She shrugged sheepishly

[Adelaide]

"Oh... I see."

She would say contemplating what she could have meant.

"I'm ready to continue the tour if you don't mind?"

[Dime Price]

“Alright.” Dime was feeling a bit more comfortable talking to Adelaide. As she lead her back away from the beach and up to the apartments. They would see the Dana other still littered the beach side demolished houses and debris forced back by their less than gentle crash. The kind of “tent city” they had left behind before the apartments were built. Some seemed to still hang here under some propped up debris and shoddy drapery to keep the chill of late nights off their bodies.

“As you might have known as we landed it killed many of yours. No doubt I’d think a lot of hurt people have was on that accident alone, then the properties that were taken to give us this space to contain us, the way we used what wasn’t ours. After the fires settled and the dead removed to who knows where. We didn’t have a lot of comfort where we slept or how we slept. Some still choose to stay here to not take advantage of the apartments, they feel they’d either be trapped and killed or have to owe someone more than they’d want to give.”

[Adelaide]

Adelaide nodded. She understood that well enough, even she would have severe trust issues with the Apartments if she were one of them... Hell she would probably find them sketchy if she didn't know it was Xapham, a meta, that had paid for it to be used in such a way.

"I can understand there feelings, I'd probably do the same in their shoes."

[Dime Price]

“I fear for this area being so open and unprotected. As easy as it is for you to come in here it’s just as easy as anyone else. While many of us with our Qi can defend ourselves, it certainly calls for fewer restful nights if we want to risk not waking up at all.” Dime sighed but decided to move on as she notice the looks of some gazing wearily in their direction.

“Then of course there was the apartments, of which I’m sure you know plenty about.” Dime actually wanted to know if Adelaide even needed a tour of the place given it’s the only structurally sound building in the area. And while it wasn’t as tall as the city buildings behind it in the distance it was raised high enough and wide enough to accommodate all metas.

[Adelaide]

"I've seen this building a few times. I came to visit my dad and drop off his lunch when he was overseeing the construction add-on's to the building so that it could house all of the known meta population..."

She would turn to Dime.

"I haven't been inside, is it nice?"

[Dime Price]

“Well it’s not high end nice, but it’s nicer than sand in your ears. I’d even say it’s nicer than you’d expect. Considering the time it took them and who knows what the budget was. They didn’t go bare minimum.” She would lead Adelaide to the building as she talked.

[Adelaide]

She nodded.

"Xapham spent a lot of money on the project, I heard he used a large majority of his fortune to get the place to make it nice."

[Dime Price]

“It’s not going to be cheap to keep up with no doubt, most of us will need to get jobs eventually and who knows how it’s going to effect a good portion of those who can’t work or if work or pay is refused because we are metas. Another reason I’d think this soup kitchen idea you’ve told me about might be good for us.” Dime felt a flutter in her heart feeling a bit excited to the thought she was feeling optimistic.

They arrived at the entrance of it and dime opened the door for Adelaide.

[Adelaide]

Adelaide would nod and walk in, she would look around and notice that the place wasn't as run down as she would've expected. Like Dime had said it was nothing elegant, but it was still a pretty nice place...

"This... is a lot nicer than I had expected. I don't mean that to sound insulting... its just... It's nice."

[Dime Price]

“Oh yeah, the walls are sound and the upper neighbors are not heard stomping about horribly. Between the main office, the... telephones, and a decent parking lot for your cars. Which not many of us use yet but that will change.” She was searching and choosing her words carefully for they usually didn’t match the ones she used back on old World. “Going through there leads to the many floors of apartment rooms there after.”

People were dominant going other than to give the women a slight glance most didn’t seem to pay mind Adelaide or Dime. There might be noted the few security cameras viewing certain points of the place Dime would spot one and go to it to rip off a piece of paper taped to cover its view.

[Adelaide]

She watched Dime remove the tape from the camera.

"Is that a common occurrence?"

She would inquire about the camera.
