Dear gods even that yelling hurt her head. Eve nodded and closed the container, trying to get a look at their current situation before looking back at the man.
"Do you know if there's anyone else around here?" She raised her voice, hoping he at least heard her this time. Her gaze flicked over his body, looking for any sort of signs he had the same black marks on his skin like she had on hers.

He'd dig a finger into his ear, pulling out a huge hunk of what looked like beeswax?
His skin did not have the black marks hers did as far as she could tell! Both of them could also see a shadow engulf the land as a giant tidal wave from the Ocean loomed overhead, ready to crash down in mere moments!

"I asked if you knew if anyone else was around here." Well that explained the shouting. Only now there was that giant tidal wave.
"Seriously?!" Part of Eve hoped that her bubble shield would float, but she doubted it. She looked around for something they could use to anchor themselves against that wave.
"I don't suppose you've got anything to block that that?" She could form a wall of earth with Tiel's help, but she doubted it could be that big.

"Take a deep breath."
Golem would bark at her as he wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her close to him before the wave would crash into them. She'd feel his whole body was made of metal, and was dense, like it was solid steel the whole way through. And when the wave crashed down over them she could feel the current trying to rip her away from him, but his grip was tight as he began to march them toward a building they could climb up.
Though she could feel something was wrong with the current. It seemed to be swirling around them, like it was trying to grab them!

After seeing that, she wasn't going to tell him no. The shield disappeared so Golem could grab her, taking as deep a breath as she could. Evelyn felt the wave wash over them, the force enough that she had the fleeting knowledge that she'd have been swept away on her own. The metal skin holding on to her felt strange, cold in the water.
And it still felt wrong. All of this felt wrong, but it was like the water wanted to grab at them rather than have them be washed away with the force alone. She focused on adding her energy to the man's to help him continue to be an anchor.
She keeps a lookout for any building that looks like one they can climb, as well, pointing to it with one hand and the container held tight against her chest with the other if she finds it first.

The water continued to swirl and wrap around them, now forming into a massive whirlpool. The more they tried to fight it the more concentrated the water and current became between them, trying to wiggle between them as he made slow methodical progress toward the closest building. And while his grip remained tight on her, the box of ashes would be ripped from her hand, pulled away from them by the current. His own free hand to slow to catch it as he reached for it!

Eve's teeth clenched against a silent curse as the container was ripped from Golem's grasp, knowing who they had belonged to and what it meant. Tapping her fingers sharply against his arm to get his attention, she gestured for him to let go of her. Whatever her power was, it wasn't likely that the ashes would be safe if it was ripped out of their reach for good.
She knew she could swim well enough, but not in this mess. So it was give up, or hope she could out-swim the current that was already trying to tear them apart anyway.
...Dad was kick her ass if he found out.
Her constructs formed wings at her shoulders, pressing against her after pushed off to stay more aerodynamic as she would try to speed up and reach out for the container. If she could reach it in time, she would wrap both arms around it and hold it close to her chest.

Golem would nod and release her. With the help of her wings Eve would be able to glide through the current enough to grab the box before she felt the current shift around her, pushing and pulling her up, expelling her out of the water onto the roof of the building they were walking toward. She could see other members of God territory also being spit out of similar whirlpools onto other roofs. It seemed that the ocean was on their side! And while Golem was not among those on the roofs, she could feel her building begin to shake, like something heavy was climbing up it.

Well that was a relief, and probably a sign Poseidon was on their side. Eve heaved a sigh of relief, her knees feeling like they were made of water, themselves. Adrenaline pumped through her veins even with the screams of the dying, and it felt like her throat was unnaturally dry.
"Good." She stepped back away from the edge so Golem, assuming it was him, would have an easier time getting up once he got closer, looking around to see who or what remained, and if the skies were clear!

Eve was right as Golem would climb up, the edge of the roof crumbling under his weight as his skin began to turn back to flesh colored while he took gasping breathes, looking up at her from his hands and knees.
"Did you save him?"
The skies seemed to be clearing up in the immediate area and she could see one of the hero ships sailing the waves helping people onboard who were hurt or worse, civilians.
"We don't got room fer everyone. Just the worst of ye lot. The rest will have ta wait. If you can fight, you can swim!"

"Yeah." Eve nodded, displaying the canister for Golem once he got his bearings and could see for himself. She took a shaky breath and let it loose after a moment.
"No idea what the hell those were, but the skies seem clearer now. You good?" She looked over at the shouts nearby, a ship sailing in the nearby area to get to those who were able to be saved by had no fighting chance on their own.

Golem would nod. "Thank you for saving him." He swallowed hard, fighting back tears that welled in his eyes before he looked to the sky, and back to the ruined city around them. "His soul is out there now, and someone is lost and afraid as their soul is igniting. We need him now more than ever..." He let out a deep sigh as he picked himself up, back to his feet muttering to himself. It should have been him. Odysseus and his boat would soon be upon the roof they found themselves at. "Can you two fight? We are taking those that need it most to safety." |

"I'm glad I could." Eve nodded back, expression softening as she looked out at the mess of a world around them.
"Wherever they are, now they won't have to be lost and afraid forever. Or alone." She had no idea how much other monsters knew about each other, so she didn't say much else on it. Rising to her feet, she nodded to the man in the boat, recognizing his face well enough.
"I believe so, Captain. I can, at any rate." She made her way to the boat, presenting the jar to the man aiding civilians.
"Phoenix fell in combat, but we were able to save his remains." It would be one less worry, making sure the jar was in good hands and not at risk.

He'd take the box with a nod, setting it down next to him.
"Ye did well ta get this. I'll see it makes it ta the vault fer when the time comes. He'd reach into his coat to pull out a small container of his own for her. Wax fer yer ears. Keeps the wailing at bay. Though may be less needed with less Shriekers about. I'm going to get as many of the wounded and civilians as I can somewhere safe. Get to the Pyramids. Egyptians got tombs and safehouses we can use underground while we figure out our next move. Got it?"
Either way, he wasn't waiting around and would continue along to the next roof looking for the injured and civilians.

Eve takes the wax with a sense of relief in her gut. Less of those shredding things around was good on its own, but she didn't feel like risking those things screaming to the point she felt it all the way through.
"Understood." She pinched off a section of wax, closing off one ear and looking at Golem. She took a look at the available ways to get to the Pyramids from where they were.
