Shiloh was wandering aimlessly, as she often did. For the most part, people were just... ignoring her. That was common enough, and allowed her to relax a bit. She was fiddling with her camera when a stray cat ran by. It stopped and looked straight at her, and she smiled.
Crouching down, she held the camera up to her eye. "Smile, pretty kitty," she murmured.

"WE DONT SERVE YOUR KIND! GET OUT!" a shout rang out from a nearby bar, prior to the sound of a glass bottle exploding.
Out of the door stumbled the white haired Atlas waving inside. "Oh I'm so sorry! I had no i-" his words were interrupted by a yelp as chunks of ice flew past him, a couple hitting him in the face despite his cowering defensive position. As the door slammed behind him, he slowly uncurled. "Goodness..." he muttered under his breath.

Shiloh furrowed her brows and hurried over to the stranger. Placing a gentle hand on his shoulder, she crouched with him for a moment, concern obvious across her features.
"Oh... Oh my gosh, are you okay? What happened there?"

Wiping himself off, Atlas explained, "Eh, some guy didn't like too much that I was a meta."
After a brief moment of looking at the bar, he turned to the kind girl.
"I thought people here were cool about that kinda thing." The phrase was a statement, though in a sense posed as a question for the stranger.

Shiloh smiled sadly, her hand still gently against his shoulder, as he brushed himself off.
"Some people are very welcoming and kind. Some, however, are afraid, and that makes them close-minded." She gave a very slight shake of her head, moving to guide him away from the door. "People often fear what they can't understand. It's human nature."

He nodded as he followed her lead. "Yea I'm pretty scared of people too so I guess I can't blame them."
"Not that I'm afraid of like you or anyth- um I'm Atlas by the way," he introduced in the middle of his sentence, offering a handshake.

She chuckled softly, offering him a gentle smile.
"I'm Shiloh. Its nice to meet you, Atlas. And there's no reason to be afraid of me. I'm not afraid of you, either."

Atlas laughed awkwardly and high fived his own hand due to the lack of reciprocation. "That's cool cus I-I don't think I'm very scary. Your smile is pretty pretty. Wait that sounds weird just like pretty. But like pretty, pretty... I don't know I'm sorry."
If she turned to look at him, his eyes would be darting back and forth between her and nothing particular in the sky. His hands never let go of each other either; they merely kept moving around and pulling on each other uncomfortably, just as something for them to do.

"No, its okay. I understood what you meant. Thank you. That was really sweet."
Her smile brightened a little bit. She noticed the stranger's struggles, but kept herself from reaching out to try to untangle his hands.
"Are you going to head anywhere in particular, Atlas? Maybe I can help you."

"Well I um-" he wasn't too sure if he should say why he was really out here. Really all he wanted was to see if he could make friends, but so far that wasn't going great.
"Heh," he uncomfortably half-chuckled. "I just wanted to go exploring, I guess and um- see... what the city had to offer." He nodded upon the close of his statement, in confidence that it made some sort of sense.

"Palisade is actually a beautiful city, if you know where to look. What kinds of things interest you?"
Shiloh tilted her head to one side, seeming to accept his awkward statement as it was. She didn't think much of it, actually, trusting him at his word.

"Oh I..." he paused for a second to think, when he realized what his hands were doing and sheltered them in his pockets. "...I like, um, science." The last word seemed to just barely make it out of his mouth. "And like, Star Wars and stuff."
"But I guess that doesn't really help unless you guys have like a park or something that has those things.." He seemed as though he was finished, before he piped up to correct himself. "But I mean parks are for kids and I'm not yknow a kid so that wouldn't even be fun anyway thatd be.. dumb."

"Parks can be fun, no matter what age you are." Shiloh's eyes were alight with kindness and amusement. She kept her tone quiet and gentle, almost like she was attempting to soothe a skittish cat, and was careful not to make any sudden movements.
Humming thoughtfully, she tilted her head to one side. "We have a science museum, but thats the only thing I can think off of the top of my head. Unless you wanted to go down to the beach. Its not really science-y, but it is probably one of the prettier places."

Atlas's expression turned to surprise and he'd come to a stop. "G-go to the beach? With me? Right..now??"

Shiloh paused just a couple of steps ahead of him, turning around to face him with a gentle smile.
"Of course. Why not? It's beautiful there, and it might calm you don't a little bit. Give you something to enjoy, and take your mind off of closed-mindedness."
