Shiloh gave a slight shake of her head.
"My dad had the same ability, but I came to this world eight years ago. I haven't had anybody to really learn from since, so I have no real idea how it works." She smiled apologetically.

Atlas pushed up his glasses, mumbling "That's okay," in response, clearly lost in thought. His finger slid down the tip of his nose, to rest on his lips. After a couple glances at her, Atlas worked up the courage to really say what was on his mind. She would have to learn of his obsession sooner or later if she was to be a potential friend.
"I would be very interested in studying your abilities," he revealed in a quiet, nervous tone. His eyes were glued to the ground in front of him; his fingers fidgeted with each other on his lips. "I doubt you manipulate the path of photons to move around your body, because that would result in the photons not entering your pupils, which of course would then result in lack of vision. And you haven't reported that," he said with a glance to his friend. "As I said previously, it could be possible that you are tampering with their brain functions, in which case you are either accessing their occipital lobe, the thalamus, or cerebral cortex. Possibly some mixture. This would be very interesting, considering your ability could grow more into a psychological direction, possibly develop into full telepathy."
After a brief moment of silence, he shrugged and looked over at Shiloh. "Or maybe there's another possibility I have yet to learn about."

Shiloh continued to smile softly, allowing him to continue on his rant for as long as he wanted. She seemed unbothered by his scientific jargon, despite not completely understanding most of it.
"Well, if you'd like, I can show you my ability one day. I'm not sure if that will do any good, but the offer is still there."

"Yes that would be perfect!" Atlas said with a grin. It was nice for someone to not suddenly have something to attend after hearing his rant. "Unfortunately I don't have as much equipment as I would like, but observation is a fundamental part of the scientific method. Using the unaided eye will be sufficient enough for now."

Shiloh nodded. She wasn't entirely sure how it would help him, but if it would do some good, she didn't mind.
"I should warn you, though... It takes a little while for me to be able to switch back and forth. I won't be able to immediately come back into sight, and it might take a moment or two for me to... catch my breath."

Atlas nodded. "Thank you for the heads up. That is definitely more data to take into account. The fact that it affects you on a physical level is interesting. Mine affects me physically but that makes sense because..." Atlas trailed off, suddenly going silent. If she looked at his eyes, she would noticed they had become lifeless for a moment, almost as if he had gone brain dead.

Shiloh turned to look at him, tilting her head curiously to one side.
"Atlas? Because what?" She prompted, reaching out to gently place her hand on his shoulder.

"Hm?" his head shot up, his eyes suddenly alive. He glanced at her hand before turning back to her. "What?"

She smiled at him softly, leaving her hand to linger on his shoulder for a moment. Her eyes showed genuine concern, but no judgment.
"You sort of dazed off there for a second. Were you thinking about something?"

Hm, strange. I didn't feel brain dead.
"Oh, um, probably but I forgot what it was," he said with a chuckle.
"I think I'm ready to go home and rest. Can we meet tomorrow for lunch?"

"Absolutely. I'll swing by the apartments at noon. There are some amazing places around here, and I'm sure we can find something that you'll really enjoy."
Shiloh smiled softly at him and removed her hand, wrapping her arms around her chest. "Do you know how to get back to the Apartments from here?"

Atlas nodded. "I think so," he replied with a grin.
"Thank you, for," Atlas pulled his hands up to look at them and play with them as he spoke, "Well, everything."

"Don't worry about it. Get home safe, okay?"
Shiloh smiled softly, giving Atlas a nod. She turned around and began to walk in the direction of the nearest coffee shop.
