Keeping Up (Cillian/Kaia/Daniel)

Saturday mornings were the best.  For a little while, the Guardian Gym was quiet, a free-for-all that Brianna had zero problems taking advantage of.  Most of the kids she helped in the community tended to sleep in or have other plans, which meant holding back less when she sparred.  The aspiring hero refused to lock herself away and despair.  If qi didn't work as well here, fine.  She'd find other ways to further her own goals.

After opening, she was stretching in the usual spot, keeping an eye on the door for whenever someone else came in.

[Cillian McWolfe]

Cillian was running a little later than normal, issues with his first job ran a bit late. Namely one of the birds getting his wind stuck, but they had thankfully been able to free Clarence without hurting him, it just took a bit of time. Entering the Gym he'd hold up a hand to Brianna in a greeting as he slide behind the main counter to write in his start time.

"Just us so far?"

"Morning." She stopped as she saw the familiar form enter the gym, raising a hand in return.

"Yeah, so far. Everything okay?" He wasn't usually late.

[Gunslinger]

A few steps behind Cillian entering is Daniel, who waits patiently for his turn to sign in.

He didn't show up often enough to be considered a regular, but it was a good change of pace from his work out at home.

[Kaia Galanos]

If it hadn't been for two familiar people walking in, one more than the other, Kaia might have missed this place altogether.

Was this a secret hub for people of the Old World?

She squints and looks up for the sign.

A Gym.

"That...might actually be an option for training someone without getting arrested." Kaia would blink.

She'd queue in, mostly to see the inside and how busy it was at any given time.

[Cillian McWolfe]

"Yeah, Clarence just had his wing caught up in some of the scarves. We got it taken care of, he'll be okay. Just stressed."

He looked up when Daniel entered, the tightening of his chest still gripped him as old hatreds were hard to drop. But he was trying, and they were all in the same boat here. It was a new world, and a new opportunity to make amends, it's what he told himself every day in the mirror. Or at least on the harder to cope days.

"Morning! Here for the equipment or looking for practical experience?"

He'd ask Daniel, motioning for the sign in sheet for him before giving Kaia a small wave.

"Morning! First time here?"

The gym's a little quiet, but the sign on the door would have told Kaia they just recently opened for the day. For now, it's just the four of them.

"Aww, poor Clarence. Glad he's alright." She turned towards the door and raised a hand with a smile in greeting at the two that entered. One of them was a little familiar, but she'd never seen the girl in her life. Not that that bothered her.

"Hey there, morning."

[Gunslinger]

Daniel looks up when he's spoken to, and nods.

"What's the practical experience? I haven't seen that, before."

[Kaia Galanos]

"Yeah, first time." Kaia would nod crossing her arms.

New and quiet. That's good.

"Fighting in the streets gets you arrested. I was looking for a place with some privacy."

[Cillian McWolfe]

He'd motion to Kaia at her words about fighting in the street.

"Practical experience. Good natured sparring, a way to keep our skills sharp. The way we figure it is that trouble might be coming here eventually. In one way or another, so it's prudent to offer a legal outlet to stay sharp."

Cue the good natured smile to both Kaia and Daniel.

[Brianna Valdyr]

"Well, we definitely have privacy here. Most of our regulars won't be coming in for another hour or so." As Cillian pointed out, it was their only real way to stay in shape and keep up with how they had been in their own world, at least legally.

"Though if you both like the idea of piratical experience, it looks like we have enough pair off or work together." She smiled, comfortable in the familiar space.

[Gunslinger]

"That... seems like a good idea, to me."

Daniel admits, almost as if he's surprised he hadn't thought of it!

[Kaia Galanos]

She glances at them all then shrugs.

"Yeah, I could use some practice. You guys rent this place out sometimes?"

[Cillian McWolfe]

Cillian hesitated at that question.

"Sometimes we will close it and book it for a special training session."

Namely if they were really going to be using Qi abilities.

[Brianna Valdyr]

Brianna nodded at the question.

"We'd need the name of the person renting it and how many you're planning to have here, but it's something we can arrange. You'd check in like normal, but we'd notice ahead of time." They still dealt with kids and others who may be registered qi users, but not want to advertise who they were if people didn't go snooping through the city's records.
