WR rarely kept ties outside of their progressively shrinking circle. Between Gidget, Drake, Dj, and occasionally Adelaide, they had pretty much all they needed as far as social interactions went. Yet, sometimes, memories of home flickered in the back of their mind, and those memories sometimes reminded them of people on this world. Most notably, every time their late sister, Sylvye, came to mind, there was a flash of Shiloh, and that was something that was slowly becoming more frequent, and it was about to drive them crazy.
And so, WR thought to pay Shiloh a visit, for the simple purpose of checking in, and hopefully restraining some of those thoughts. They pulled into the driveway of her cute little townhouse, letting their car purr a bit before getting out. Quite frankly, they didn't really know how to interact with the poor girl. They had practically nothing in common and the only reason they ever thought of her was due to Sylvye alone...but, maybe there was something to come out of this.
They heaved a deep sigh, pulling their jacket over their tank top and throwing a beanie over their tinted hair, before approaching the door. They sighed once more and watched their breath disperse into the cold air before knocking on the door.

Shiloh spent more and more time at work since her falling out, if that was what you could call it, with Adelaide. She wasn't eating much, and sleeping just brought waves of paranoia. The girl was hardly taking care of herself. It shouldn't have been a big deal, but suddenly, she felt all alone again... and that was eating away at her. More and more, she was starting to disappear again.
Nobody noticed her: not the people on the street, or those she worked with. She had tried to say hi, but they didn't seem to notice. She knew it was because of her own mental state, but it was a vicious cycle. Only those that intentionally sought her out seemed to see her at all.
She had her computer bag over one shoulder, her camera safely tucked away inside. She was the last person to leave the office, and even the janitor had forgotten her, locking her inside. Sighing softly, she was ready to just take a hot bath and melt away for a little while.
She caught sight of WR as soon as she turned the corner down her road, and her brows furrowed. She walked up slowly, wondering if they would even notice her. "WR?" She whispered softly, before clearing her throat a bit. "What are you doing here?"

WR knocked again, hanging around for a few more seconds and giving a shrug of their shoulders when no one answered. She either wasn't there or wasn't feeling a visitor (which they knew was totally out of character for her), either way, they weren't going to wait around.
They turned and started back for their car, stopping in their tracks again when they noticed Shiloh out of the corner of their eye. What do you know? Somehow perfect timing.
WR gave a slight smile and a two finger wave, waiting for her to come closer before saying anything.
"Hey, Shiloh, just came to check on you. What's up?" They asked, scanning over her briefly with narrowed eyes. She looked... different, less herself than how they remembered her, and the thought almost stopped their heart as Sylvye flashed in their mind again.
"Are you okay?" They added, choking on the first word. They sounded a lot more genuine this time around.

Shiloh offered them a smile, but it didn't quite reach her eyes. At least they noticed her... She took a deep breath and the smile faded away. She nodded, and motioned for them to follow her as she made her way to her front door. She had forgotten her keys, but that meant she left the front door unlocked. She turned the knob and moved to go inside.
"I'm okay. I actually... probably needed to talk to you, too. Come on in... I don't know if I have anything to eat, but I can make a pot of coffee?"

A brow was raised at that.
"Okay," They slid their hands into their pockets and followed her inside, shaking their head at her offer. What was with people always offering them food? Maybe that's what it meant to be a good host... huh... yeah, fuck that. They weren't ever gonna keep a stock for visitors. They were at fault for wanting to visit them in the first place.
They scanned the interior of her home briefly, nodding to themself as they took note of everything, before plopping down into the closest seat, turning to face her.
"So, what's up?"

Her home was immaculate and well maintained. She seemed to live a pretty simple life: her furniture was comfortable, she had a coffee table in the middle of her living room, and her kitchen looked as if it were rarely ever used (probably because it was). She made her way by the couches, grabbing a pillow that had fallen to the floor and putting it back up to where it belonged, and then headed straight for her coffee maker... the most expensive thing she owned. It was nice, to say the least.
However, the real shining star of her home was the art. The walls were covered in large, framed pictures, most of Palisade City. They were beautiful: the sun setting over the skyline, the ocean, the market place, even a couple of stray cats that still somehow showed Palisade in a good light. There was a picture of Adelaide with her guitar, hair hanging half over her face, eyes closed, sitting on the end table beside her couch.
Shiloh started the process of making herself a new pot of coffee, keeping her back to WR. "Sorry I wasn't here... I was working late. The newspaper has a big article coming out, and..." She chuckled, the sound soft. "Well, you'll see it tomorrow, if you read the paper..."

WR settled into the couch, gazing around the room curiously while Shiloh did her thing. The pictures were gorgeous, all of them, and with each one they found themself sucked in, lost in a world of beauty where there was no malice and strife, only... happiness, and hope. The one of Adelaide specifically held their attention. It was the most unique out of all of them, probably because it wasn't scenic, and she seemed... happy. It was a priceless sight, even if they didn't know her all that well.
They turned back to Shiloh as she spoke, giving a shake of their head.
"Don't sweat it," said with a slight smile, even though she wouldn't see it. "Surely that's not what's on your mind, though," They pressed, leaning forward and resting their chin on their palm. They were willing to bet if they didn't push, this was going to go nowhere, and the thought of that made them anxious.

Shiloh sighed softly, opening one of her cupboards to display three shelves of coffee cups, all different shapes, sizes, and designs. She chose one, seemingly randomly, and set it down on the counter. She didn't want to face WR, to see their face as she told them the truth of everything... but if she was going to come out about it, she needed to come out to everybody she cared for.
"I... No, it's not. I just..." She took a deep breath, spinning the mug idly between her hands. "I've been... lying. To you, and everyone else... and I... need to be honest, now..."

WR stared at her, their eyes shooting into her skull like lasers, and they shook their head softly, puzzled by her approach at this. Okay, so she was lying to people about something. Whatever. But what the hell was so important that she felt bad for hiding from THEM? They BARELY knew each other.
"Okay... and...?" They raised a brow, tilting their head slightly as they watched her play with her mug.

She sighed softly.
"I'm a Meta, WR. I'm from your world."

WR paused briefly, as if their brain had completely shut off. Were they mad? No, in fact, they could care less. Their confusion came from the fact that they had legitimately no clue why that was such a big deal. Metas were everywhere, nowadays, and their presence was something acknowledged and (mostly) accepted by normies, whether they loved or hated them.
They tilted their head even further.
"Okay... and...?"

Shiloh chuckled softly. She reached up to rub her face slightly.
"I guess that's not a big deal to you. Adel won't talk to me... her dad seems to think she will come back, so I'm just stuck... waiting."

Ah. Her pitiful romance that she was oblivious of. WR sighed softly and grumbled under their breath.
"Look, I don't know Adelaide very well but if she really cares about you she'll come back, and that's that."
They leaned pulled their legs onto the couch and crossed them under their body, resting their arms in their lap.
"You don't gotta make the world seem so lonely, ya know. I mean, sometimes it feels like we're walking in circles, in our own bubbles next to the rest of the world that doesn't seem to notice us a lot of the time. I get it. But I'm not about to sit here and watch someone take the same path my sister did, so if you wanna do something or need something fucking tell me, okay? I don't gotta know you well to care about you."

Shuloh smiled softly and turned around, holding her empty mug between both her hands. There was genuine sadness in her eyes, but her smile was more real than it had been a moment ago. She stared into the empty mug, as if it might have answers for her.
"I... I've been alone for years, WR. People don't notice me. It's a side effect... I walk down the streets, and its like I don't even exist. I used to try to talk to people, but it always ended up the same way. They'd look surprised that I was there, accuse me of spying on them, and then they'd forget about me the moment they looked away. Adel was... the first person to really see me. I don't know why, or how it works, or why some of you remember me." She gave a slight shrug of her shoulders, reaching up to rub her face again. She was fighting back tears.
"I feel alone again. For a little while, it was... like it was easier for people to see me. But now, it's back to how it was before. Nobody pays any attention to me. Nobody would even notice..."

Empathetic eyes fell over Shiloh and WR just stared for a moment, into space, lost in their thoughts while her words drifted through their ears. They knew how that felt. Before Leon found them, they fought for people's attention, uncaring of whether it was good or bad. They just wanted to be noticed. Eventually, they stopped caring, and just MADE themself be noticed, without regard for anyone else, and that was something that carried over into their present life. Unfortunately, that wasn't advice they could really share with Shiloh, so as they snapped back into reality, they frowned, contemplating for a moment.
They wanted to help, they really did, but for once they felt... powerless. They knew no matter what they said or did, and how she reacted to it, as soon as they left, she would fall back into her hole again, waiting, wasting away until Adelaide came back, if she ever did.
Their body tensed, and their teeth clenched together, but then... they relaxed, dropping their feet to the floor and picking themself up. Without a word, they shuffled over to Shiloh and wrapped their arms around her, embracing her and allowing her to let it out, if that's what she needed. They hated touching people, for any reason, but it was the only way they could think to help her.
"It's okay, Shiloh. I'm here, and I notice you."
