From a window she slithered in during the dead of night she made her way down a flight of metal rusted stairs to the lower most level of the building. She was looking for more of those Qi weapons she wanted to have one. Not to use but to see what it was about. She was so focused between TSI and these others having weapons that could take their Qi away. In part she didn’t want anything to do with that another part however she wanted to know how.
A loud thud came from the floor above and she paused all her movements to listen. There was a few poker games going on upstairs a bit of a private gambling club as she found out. They dealt in big money too. Tonight seemed to be an extra loud party. There were men with rather large guns on patrol and guarding all exits. On the inside and above Avice’s head there was a bar quickly going empty and those that were not “on duty” were spreading their wealth and cheer. Avice didn’t judge them. She didn’t care about much that went on in these underground scenes anymore. She once upon a time a part of it, obviously since she’s had to clean up her act, not anymore.
She felt around with her fingers over crates and read their names her sharp senses could see the writing on the sides and smell the guns, explosives, drugs, and what not without opening their contents. She looked for something fowl... something that would have made her sick to her stomach the moment she found it.
She was about to give up when her search came up dry. She stood in the dark and rubbed the back of her neck. The tip of her tongue pressed lightly feeling one of the sharpened vampiric fangs in her mouth the constant dry feeling in her throat she figured must have been from the lack of Qi in the air naturally of this world for it was beginning to go away while in the apartments and at the beach area. Where the Metas frequented and where Qi was frequently used. They were triggering something by staying here. It made sense to her they were drawing forth Qi like a magnet and spreading it around like a virus.
She had hoped there was a possibility this was where the weapons could be if they were here at all but with no luck she would have the urge to check other parts of the building. Which meant going to the more upper levels as far as she could sense there were no other Qi presences in the building... again as far as she could sense. If there was something far stronger than she then she could be in big trouble.
Why was she risking this place in particular? She heard word this was a place where a lot of illegal goes through. Including the gambling and the contraband she already found. Another truth, after confronting TSI twice she began to think she should start smaller. While it wasn’t quite surprise her that some place like TSI would have a strong Qi user or two in its ranks she was surprised that it would be one if not more than one as powerful as who she encountered. Eight years prior the children’s brought here she would have assumed struggled to grow much and the Qi users created since then probably also struggled to grow. And yet...
Exhaling heavily she brought herself back to the task at hand. She would devise a plan in her head and then think of a few other ways to go about the same goal resulting in a few plans simultaneously concocted in a round about and loose manner. Simple plans left room for adjustment and improvisation. If she got caught she’d have to make it silent quick. If it couldn’t get silent then she would have to think of the most efficient way to escape.
She had to consider the display those Qi weapons made on the opening of the apartments Avice couldn’t imagine every crime boss, militant force, and many home owners not immediately looking buy and stock up on them for the very least a smidge of protection against the metas. Whoever made them might be rolling in gold from the demand.
Now she could go door to door in this whole place and take way to damn long to search every corner. Good thing she had scoped the place out for a few days and knew the next likely place where anything interesting might be everything else between an office and a secondary storage room was basically an apartment. Both the office and the storage were separated by a hallway and both covered half the top floor each. They seemed to have knocked out the walls to achieve just that. Someone wanted both a big office and lot of room for a big collection.
She took a quick look before crawling out the window she came in from shutting it behind her. She unfurled her cloak from under her arms and started to ascend, light as a feather she hovered the side of the building using light and silent steps to quickly rise to the top floor. She checked a window and it was locked. So we’re a few others along the same wall. Instead of risking much more time while being left wide open she hopped onto the roof. There she would see. A couple of men conversing next to the door that had the roof access. Making a swift and silent duck behind some crates covered by a tarp she looked through their slats to watch them. They hadn’t noticed her it seemed.
What would she do?
Avice gave a few minutes to ponder what options she had. Making a mental note of her inner arsenal. She had one thought for sure. It should be enough to be a distraction at least. She drew forth a large amount of Qi leaving her breathless and instantly broken into a sweat. A figure formed before her and stared without life in his eyes. A man that went by the name of Rick Fox. Once alive and now not more than a memory and a puppet in Avice’s hands. Looking at him made her sick to her stomach and pity the man. For now there was going to be use in his current form.
“I need you to cause a scene. Pull those two away from the door and keep them distracted.” She assumed he acknowledged because he stood and lit his hands ablaze in a brilliant flame. He shot at some crates across the way and blew them up as well as their contents which seemed to have been combustible. And blew away part of the roof as well. Worse off it set the building on fire as it burned hotter than normal flame the men at the door started shouting as they see Rick Fox coming at them hands still on fire. They aimed to shoot but their weapons exploded in their own hands the instant they pulled the trigger with one of Ricks other Qi abilities.
“FUCK!” She exclaimed in a hushed tone. She leapt back over the edge of the roof and broke a window below instead of getting the roof access. She heard shouting starting up the stairs and dodged into a door breaking its lock instantly and shutting it back behind her to hide herself and her evidence. “What in the mother fuck?!”
The display of power and immediate reaction left her realizing she was now short on time. She hadn’t realized maybe her words could have been more specific. She began to Continue her search through what looked to be the office portion of the building not optimal but she made her choice and thought to look for a log book. She dug through a desk which was thick blackened wood and stone. Severely expensive looking and she broke every lock on each drawer if not breaking the drawers themselves. The smell of smoke started to fill the room and across the way she could see beyond a sitting area and a kitchen that smoke was coming through the vents. She looked around and saw a thick leather binder on a wooden stand she opened it and flipped through the pages. A catalogue of items, numbers, dates and so on. It was indeed a kind of log book. Filled with signatures and such. She would be satisfied with this. If she didn’t have a Qi thieving weapon in hand maybe in this there was clues to who might have them or where they come from. That is if they came through here at all. The sprinklers came on and she was being sprayed with water. She tucked the logs into her jacked and zipped it tight.
She threw open the door and saw Rick making his way through the fire taking out the growing mob of men on the same floor with him. Avice herself would crack her neck and tap into the power source embedded in her neck. The crystal there gave her power of tritails. A spirited Qi beast that she defeated some time ago. She wouldn’t remember this but it was like every time she used it’s power it would show her almost like a dream playing in the back of her mind like deep down she knew just what happened. Only to wake up and not really remember he dream at all. With her claws she barreled through everyone taking them down as slicing through their weapons. Fox was taking heavy gun fire and running out of time. His blaze wouldn’t stop when he finally fizzled out of existence once again. Soon it was just Avice and she’d tear her way through the masses she didn’t kill if she could help it but she definitely left many mutilated or crippled in some way. Many decided to prioritize getting out of the burning building and that made things easier on Avice but it was still a lot to push through.
Sirens were wailing in the distance and people started to scatter further. The place would be cleared out in minutes. Avice would take advantage of the chaos and confusion to make her own escape out the front door. The fires would burn the place down in about an hour at least. It burned hot and quick barely contained. The fire arms, flammable contraband, and explosives started creating new explosions making it harder for the officials to keep it contained. By morning it was hardly anything more than coal and ash.
