Jacket
A faded black leather jacket with fur lining around the neck area. There are two side zipper-pockets on the outside as well as a few inside, as well. Despite its appearance, it acts like an insulant, allowing easy flow of air when it is hot, and some warm protection when it is cold.
Karel has 3 main styles, all of which were derived from the Qi based Martial art 'I Ching'
The belief of I Ching is that with the heavy use of circular and fluid, rapid, successive movements, that both defense and offense are satisfied. The I Ching symbolism is embodied in a set of 64 abstract line arrangements called hexagrams. These are each composed of six stacked horizontal lines; each line is either Yang (unbroken, a solid line), or Yin (broken, an open line with a gap in the centre). With six such lines stacked from bottom to top in each hexagram, there are 2^6 or 64 possible combinations and thus 64 hexagrams.
Each hexagram is considered to be composed of two three-line arrangements called trigrams. There are 23, hence 8, possible trigrams.
Each hexagram represents a state, a process and may represent a change happening. When a hexagram is cast using one of the processes of divination with I Ching, each of the lines may be indicated as moving or fixed.
The 8 trigrams are all named after the directions they face, their posibilities, and of course their Nature. They are: Force (Heaven, North West), Open (Swamp, West), Radiance (Fire, South), Shake (Thunder, East), Ground (Wind, South East), Gorge (Water, North), Bound (Mountain, North East), Field (Earth, South West).
To summarise the style, the person uses movements which switches between 8 different stances, positions and styles thus making it extremely hard for any person to read. It requires a high proficiency in math, and unless the opponent has that ability, they stand next to no chance against such a style as this. However, even those users have troubles dealing with 8 different styles, as not only does the user make it inconsistant and hard to read, but also uses the 64 hexagrams, allowing 2 different strikes, yin or yang, which result in various affects depending on where they strike. The philosophy centres around the ideas of balance through opposites and acceptance of change (which also represent the yin and the yang - 2 opposites achieving a balance).[/center]
The styles he has formed are:
Stage 3 style.
This fighting style's name is appropriate, after intense conditioning and discipline of both body and mind, this is the finished product.
In this style, Karel faces his lower body away from his opponent, leaving only his upper body slightly turned to the side. In addition to his other two styles, this style also allows him to do three things:
1) Abandon/evade attacks easier
2) Hide his movements easily
3) Deliver swift, destructive counter-attacks
This style has one drawback - it needs a high level of skill to use it, and once initiated, a lot effort is needed to sustain it.
Just so you get the idea of the strength of his blows, a counter attack kick can feel like it has the same strength coming from a full force round-house kick. Now take that, and place it in a critical area that was forced to be revealed from his counter attack, and he have a critical strike with almost every blow.
Karel has only ever used this style once, and has since forced himself to never again use it - even when his life is in direct threat.
Note:At the current recovering state of Karel's body, he is unable to perform this style Has yet to be used..[/center]
Qi/Chi/Ki
Qi/Chi/Ki are concepts originating from Chinese and Japanese Martial arts. The belief behind them is that Qi/Chi/Ki, are seperate energies which govern the system. Training in certain aspects of fighting pushes the fighter to each different alignment. Karel's alignment belongs to Qi, due to the chinese origination of his fighting style. When 'puncturing' his enemies, he uses a technique called 'Acupressure', which is, simply put: a traditional Chinese medicine bodywork technique based on the same ideas as acupuncture. It involves placing physical pressure, by hand, elbow, or with the aid of various devices. Meaning, Karel's attacks may not necessarily aim to break bones, yet they certainly have that potential, his attacks are more intended on debilitating the interior system. With that said, his own mental conditioning is trained to the point where he may induce a similar state to shock on himself - thereby causing him to ignore feelings to himself.
With the help of 'acupressure', he is able to break through flesh and reach his opponent's pressure points without much trouble..
There are several types of pressure points, each of which is applied differently, and each one creates different effects. Some of the principles are shown below:
Pain: Some points are painful, because of the prevalence of nerves in the area. For example, being prodded in the throat is painful. The body has a pain withdrawal reflex, whereby it reacts to pain by moving away from it. Martial artists make use of this, sometimes without being aware of it. Applying pressure next to the collar bone, from above, will cause the person to move downwards (away from the pain), whereas poking them in the gap between the jaw and neck (just below the ear) will make their body want to move upwards. Pressure to the shoulder causes that side of the body to move back. A rub to the back down will cause the body to move forth. Some points react more violently to pain from changes in the pressure (rubbing) rather than constant pressure.
Muscular: Here a direct attack is made on a muscle, which will contract. An example is a punch to the solar plexus, which impacts the diaphragm and thus affects the person's breathing. An attack to the outer thigh could cause the person to fall as their leg loses power.
Pressure: The baroreceptor in the carotid artery is pressure-sensitive, allowing the body to control the blood flow into the brain. Pressure against this region will 'trick' the body into thinking that blood pressure is too high, and thus will constrict and lower blood pressure - which can cause blackout.
Break: There are certain areas which are likely to lead to a break if struck properly. This includes the "loose rib" and the philtrum.
Brain shake: The brain is actually a very vulnerable organ, which is why it is encased in the skull, that floats in fluid and balances on a very flexible spine. Certain techniques can actually shake the brain in a way which causes black out. The most commonly taught technique involves a strike just below the occipital ridge, at the correct angle in the correct direction.
Energy: There are some who believe that there are energy channels which flow around the body through acupuncture meridians and that an attack will impact the flows, and thus impact on the body. There is no scientific evidence for this, although some claim to achieve predictable results. This is also called "chi", "ki" or "qi" in oriental cultures.
"Assimilated" Styles
Assimilated styles are styles other than his own. Using the art of Katsugan ('Keen Eyes'), he observes every movement made by any particular character, memorizes them, and puts it together with his own fighting style. Since those particular styles are not originally his, he is unable to master them to the same degree as the original owner. However, this is where he is frightening. By using his genius mind and the ability to observe, he not only takes it in, but adapts and improvises on them, most times outdoing the original person - in their own style. During battle, the same technique never works twice on Karel, and in order for him to completely assimilate these styles, he must see their full extent, or at least, an equivalent degree.

Similar to a kick boxing pose, the user holds both hands up to his chin in fists – left hand more or less in front, and right hand to the side. The user’s body is usually held side ways on the opponent, left shoulder pointing in the general direction of them. The legs are spread out at about shoulder width.

Strengths:
Karel is an impressive defensive fighter, and since fighting is his life, he memorises movements very well and prides himself in being able to decipher them. Seeing a single stance is all he needs to research it later, learning easily on such matters, he can use them back on the other person. Though he hasn't mastered their technique, he is good at improvisations and his unshaken calm demeanor allows him to think clearly. He is never surprised. He stays silent and isn't too dependant on his eyes ( fighting him in dark situations is SUICIDE ), shrouding his attacks making it hard for his opponent to see through them.
Weaknesses:
Karel is ignorant to what emotions are, and whilst it works as an advantage, it also suffers the point in where he would believe anything that is told to him about any particular emotion. When it comes to such a touchy subject, it is hard for him to focus. For someone to truly push him, they need to catch his attention, perhaps earn his respect. He will not listen to anyone he simply just met off the street, as he is not that open. Physically, his body is practically ill; striking him in certain regions might end it for him.
His silence tends to scare others off and pushes them to misunderstanding him and commonly enough, it forces him to get in to the roughest of situations. ( A whole gang versus one? Oh yes. )

The primary forms of nature of work that Karel usually accepts do not involve assassination, though he can very much do it, the lower parts are beatings. Besides that, the tasks he usually accepts are;
"Retrievalist"
Explanation: Whether being a person or an item, depending on the item of value and the risk expected, this job pays very well. This nature of work is popular by gang leaders who lose certain items in social events - an example of this is a gang leader losing his ring in a game of poker - having betting it to the other players. Karel will find that item, and take it back. He will try to use robbery, sneaking through windows and picking door locks, but some times it requires brute forcing - which means a more direct approach...a sort of mugging, if need be - though, those jobs pay VERY well.
Bodyguard/Protective Escort
Explanation: This job usually involves guarding a certain someone for a given amount of time. It is very much self explanatory.
"Motivationalist"/Hitman
Explanation: These jobs are the moxt expensive, as they require locating a target or targets, tracking them down and .... getting physical - killing or simply 'teaching them a lesson'. Of course, Karel does not like to be tracked down, nor does he particularly favour killing, he only takes the 'motivating' classification.[/s]
In his junior year, Karel had a major career change due to the fact he no longer needed to raise such absurdly high amounts of money. With that said, he is more so a "jack of all trades", legitely working off any odd job that pays well. For the sake of things, he works for the most part as an apprentice chef once a week. Though his qualifications allow him to generally take any job he desires, his age heavily restricts that of all specifications found in most jobs.
On certain occasions, he may work manual labour, which of course pays well but is physically draining. However, with his well conditioned body, this is more so a different form of keeping fit. To aid in his financial needs, he receives a small percentage in the incomes of "The Bunker", the gang owned night club. At the said bar, placing bets in the cage arena often warrants in a large amount of cash - often at least three digit numbers depending on the crowd.

Appearance:
Karel's face holds no scars, yet he has no dimples or wrinkles due to the fact he rarely expresses any of his emotions. He has intense brown eyes, his eyelashes straight with none out of line. His body has some muscles, but physically average for his age. He usually wears a white tank-top, with an unbuttoned long sleeve grey-blue shirt, he wears faded dark blue jeans. His hair has the back spiked back, and the mainstream of his hair has parts leaking down on both sides of his head. On his left ear, a plain silver earring. (Check Picture)

Personality
Karel only speaks when he needs to - unless he is influenced by either stimulants or depressants; caffeine and alcohol respectively. He keeps a straight, serious face and generally has troubles making friends (not like he wanted to make any in the first place). However, when he does make friends with someone, they receive the opportunity to understand him; most times he will only trust a single person at any given time, or none at all. He has his own beliefs and prefers to stay out of the way of others, though he himself has his own pride. He has no reason to live - nor no reason to die, and now seeks any reason for either. He looks for someone or something to believe in; and of late, has found it - with Celeste.
He is exceptionally skilled in the ways of martial arts, and though he is wanted by many to instruct them, he usually refuses; unless of course he sees potential. In other words, Karel is an elitist, only seeking those with some measure of standing in terms of fighting reputation before choosing to engage in a fight. However, he can also be described as "brutally efficient", "holding down the pillow" over his opponents, crushing them even if they are weak so as to make sure they do not bother him again. On more "casual" confrontations, he will simply leave if he loses interest.
A brilliant tactician, he accepts the fact that there are three types of information - fact, fiction and faith. Although he is not familiar with emotions as everyone else, he understands a certain degree of psychology and acts in such a way where his flaws are not revealed, while holding the ability to get the information he needs. He was described by Celeste (renown for intelligence gathering skills) as an Osprey - his keen sense and natural ability taking fish from the dark water and bringing it to light, as well as being strong and apparently "pretty~".
For the most part, Karel's outer appearance never truly reveals his intentions - giving off an unassuming, neutral aura. He has some proficiency in organisation, and also possesses a unique form of leadership which can only be described as "strange".

Fighting Style
Karel's fighting style is hard to decipher, and as such, he hides a trick with his attacks and defense. A simplistic art to him, but his trademark techniques are what he tries to hide. See techniques for more.
Since fighting is his life, he pays careful attention as to what stance or technique is used on him. He's a fast learner and may assimilate any fighting style in his own. He will even research what he can about that art, and by doing so, he will gather some basic knowledge of the art. HOWEVER, since he is not the original "wielder" of those fighting styles, he cannot master them unless he continuously uses them on another fighter - but keep in mind that Karel is no idiot, and recognises this truth, and therefore may combine them, forming an improvisation. In short, he can assimilate anything thrown at him, so long as he understands how it works - if he does not fully understand it or fails to read it correctly, he will do his best to force the other person to do it again.

Men'ekisei [Immunity]
Stage 2 style.
Karel rarely uses this stance. It takes a lot to provoke him in doing so, but when it happens, it usually isn't a good thing. Deriving heavily from I Ching, it embodies itself within the position of his hands. He can keeps his hands in his pockets, or maybe only one, or he can have both his hands out. He faces his opponent with the side of his body, both facing 90 degrees from his opponent, feet spread apart, with his body lowered, allowing him to move along the ground easily to increase his speed, or shift position to move around and behind with ease.
This stance allows Karel to evade, nullify, or block attacks, hence the name given to this style. Although his defense and counterattacks improve dramatically - it comes at expense of his attack capability. Though, with Karel's personality, he wouldn't bother attacking his opponent directly anyway.

Joushou Shiirudo [Invincible Shield]
Karel understands the truth that not all attacks can be dodged or blocked. Using only a little of his high perception and speed, he moves any movable part of his body nimbly, barely avoiding strikes, and after letting it slide, pushes against it. In short, it is his skill 'Shinnyo', with the exception of being a weak push-off effect, he forces openings upon his enemies. It happens quickly and swiftly, making it seem as if the attack simply bounced off him, leaving him harmless. Hence the name. This skill is an incidental one, and was later named by himself.

Kenninfubatsu [Invincible Fortitude]
Karel refuses to go down. His burning will to fight keeps him fighting - and in the past has led to near-death situations. This is a simple technique where his will makes his shaken focus become firm once again, also blocking the pain he is feeling, allowing him to fight until his body shuts itself down.
NOTE: Just because he can shrug off the pain, it does not mean he can not feel it. He simply ignores the pain caused by his injuries. If you shatter his arm completely - though he will try to use it, he will NOT be able to. However, with injuries such as fractures - he will push forward with all of his might, and though it will usually cause him pain, and though he might worsen his condition, he can force its use. Please also note that Karel is HUMAN, and this technique just makes him fight as if he were a puppet, but even puppets can be destroyed.

"Break"
Not necessarily a physical technique, although the application is the same. Through the use of action - either verbal or physical, Karel shatters the intentions, hopes, courage of his opponent; depending on the situation it can even be a simple questioning of beliefs. .

Shinnyo [The Absolute]
Sometimes, the best defence is an impressive offence - this technique is the perfect example. With incoming thrust attacks, he will use any of his limbs available to strike at mid points on the other person's limb, pushing it away as well as causing damage to that limb. The main areas he will strike are the wrist, heel and ankle.

Job/Career
Karel works a variety of jobs - all of which pay very well due to their underground nature and high-risk involve. They can range from anything at $200 to $50,000. The way it works is simple, clients will make their wants known - the task and the money, they put together a portfolio that essentially states the task - as well as background information. The dangers are assessed, and the bounty/payment is calculated. It is then processed in to a "card", that is left on a secure website, where a local gang may host it for hirelings.
Because of the nature of the work, the client and hireling usually do not have any form of direct contact with each other, thus details about the hireling is never known - which allows it to be anyone of any age.
Because of the nature of the work, the client and hireling usually do not have any form of direct contact with each other, thus details about the hireling is never known - which allows it to be anyone of any age.
The primary forms of nature of work that Karel usually accepts do not involve assassination, though he can very much do it, the lower parts are beatings. Besides that, the tasks he usually accepts are;
"Retrievalist"

Usually with a variety of notes, and typical identification as well as cards, etc. - "Ointment"
A special brewed ointment made of cocoa butter, protein, alcohol and Vaseline. It comes in a small finger-tip sized tub. Small and durable, its contents are applied to open wounds and act as a paste that sits on top of the skin, destroying blood cells that try to come out. Irritating the wound, it causes goes inside and forces the body to create collagens that are near-perfect to when it was destroyed. It MUST be applied before the wound seals. It is essentially an antiseptic cream that stops infection - and as a bonus, stops scarring. For RP purposes, Karel only feels a soothing, tingling sensation from it - but during the fight it does not alter him in any way. It also helps to explain why Karel holds no scars, though, the mystery formula is brewed at home, or bought from a black-market pharmacist in China town.
