1: Yes, we all know the random quests. If your 552 vet, you know it well, these are quests with no real story, and just appear at random only to yield sometimes a good item and sometimes a stat boost.

The arc system, like in anime there are story arcs. In these times the world changes slightly or greatly depending on the scale of the arc. This being the case why not do it ourselfs? Say a bombing of the school occured, well lock the school and make a quest or two here.
Now, that may sound simple but the quests in these arcs could be made difficult, that and the change of the playing field. For instance, what if the school wasn't the only place blasted? Maybe its happening all over? Hell, the sudden appeariance of a gang which could attack you in any thread at any time? Things like this to set up story arcs, each can lead into another.
For a basic sinario, we say some random gang moved into town, not wanting anyone in there way they begin to dominate the city.
This would mean that in threads gang members could attack the players, of course there would be some stronger and some weaker than the players. Kinda like a generic npc grouping.
Now in this case there would of course be some quests that have little point to the story, like a bit of the gang is fucking around in some place and the players catch wind of it and go to stop it, or maybe assist. This would be pointless, or would it? Could perhaps there be useful info on the quest? That being said it gives people something to rp about when no quests are currently running that tie into the arcs main story.
The idea seems to always leave more to do in my opinion and god damn it we can thus keep storyline moving and not fall into a state of time stasis. If something isn't clear tell me and I will go deeper into the idea, but for now what do you think? Of course sometimes an area would locked or something else but you know, for the story shit has to be done.
3: sometimes the story is just draggin' you down, there fore while we make a quest we drop in a filler that could be a lead in or just something we can give you to throw in a random storyline that leaves the players to figure out.
4: Yes, thats right. You enter this for oppertunitys to get Items, money, and even post count! Now, doesn't that just sound nice, maybe even a stat here and there, maybe even some other things that I won't tell you about because of there awesomeness!
5: Yes, thats right, the old battle right known as the tournament, where people go in and beat the snot out of one another for fame and glory, maybe an item, and of course stat points!
6: You wan't it all, eh? Well, then you asked for it.
7: Got something you wanna add? Then speak up, you guys have a voice too, and we wanna hear your ideas.
As for me, I want it all plane and simple!
