Imagination Workshop*

As some of you on #552 have read in the past. Kaveh made a thread a few months back called his ratings workshop. Players would provide a character from their imagination and Kaveh and other's would rate it. I loved the idea behind this game and thought it'd be a good idea to maybe bring it to #259.

I'll talk to him about it and maybe see if he'll like to do a little rating over here or something...

But until then, I'll post his rules and etc. down here so everyone can get started if they want. Because I'm workin' on a few bio's aswell. Getting some feedback is always nice~

You know, we all are blessed with the creative factory that is our imagination. I don't know about you, but my mind has the nasty - or pleasant, depending on your point of view - habit of creating new characters in fantasy settings. Each of these characters being more original than the one before it. Now let me tell you about what I have in mind:

I want you to post the profile, if you want, of a character that you have NEVER (read the never) used in an RP board, video game, pen and paper role-playing game, etc. Translation: I want you to show me that unpolished gem of a character that your mind is hiding from the rest of the world. But... you see... there are some rules...

Rule number 1: O-R-I-G-I-N-A-L-I-T-Y
Meaning: no characters set in any known or not so well known manga/anime, comic, cartoon, book, movie setting. You can make anything you want, as long as it stands out of the crowd.

Here are some dos and don'ts about rule number 1:

DO: Ninjas, Samurais, Cops, Students, Doctors, Superheroes.

DON'T: NARUTO Ninjas, KENSHIN Samurais, SIN CITY Cops, XIN Students, ... ... ... ER (the TV show) doctors, X-MEN superheroes.

This also applies for setting, moves, history, etc. I don't want to see the words 'fireball no jutsu', but I don't mind reading 'firebomb' or... I dunno... 'Dragon's Breath'... even though both don't score huge points for originality. Fire is so overused, but it is still cool.

Rule 2: Inspiration is good, copyright infringement is bad.

A lil' more detail on rule number 1... and pretty much the same rule... You can have your elves and dwarves... but if I read the word Legolas...

Rule 3: T3H PROFILE D00D

More often than not, character ideas that are in our mind are NOT finished, so what I'm telling you is try to write a profile including:

Name

Approximate age (or precise)

Setting: Fantasy, Sci-fi, reality, mythology (I'll allow MYTHOLOGICAL characters as an exception to rules 1 and 2)

History/bio (if available): I know, sometimes you have this kick ass character in mind and you tell yourself 'it can do this and that and he has flashy object A that can do cool action X', but then someone asks 'What's his life story?' and then you start improvising... No need, this part if optional, but appreciated if you have something good to present.

Physical Description: If you can write it down, what is he? Man, monster or machine? Asian or coc... Caucasian? Tall or short? Albino or black as ebony? What does he wear? What does he carry? What makes him stand out of the crowd, or why does he blend in it so well?

Fancy Stuff: If you got moves, describe them, if you got weaps, ditto. If you got mystical or mechanical uber-attacks, explain how they work and tell us what a witness would be able to observe. Lights? Explosions? A cool breeze? A sandstorm? The smell of sakura petals?

If you have a pic... and by a pic... hehehe... here's the rule: I would only want to see one type of illustration, drawings done by you, yourself and... you. No anime or comic lookalikes, just what your hands can produce. After all, if he had a look-alike, it would mean that he isn't as original as you thought it is.

I know that inside of each member of this board there is an unearthed gem of a character and I would love to see it. Why am I asking for this? Well... Even though we might have an original and innovating idea by ourselves, I believe that with the input of collaborators we can refine and optimize these ideas. So I'm proposing a character workshop. This sort of thing would probably go in the Art/Lit, but I'm putting it here as a bit of a test thread before actually telling myself 'okay, a character workshop in the art/lit is a good idea'.

Full Name: Faustus Irakna
Nickname(s): Fausty. The Third Syn. The Deranged One. The Unclean.
Age: 19 years of age.
Height: 7"2 [Due to his deranged figure]
Weight: 244-55 lbs.
Race: Mithra [Explained in the bio]

Appearance: A very tall male Mithra, one of the only in his species to ever hit such a behemoth figure height. A slightly pale tinge to his face but when out in the sun, tans very easily. A handsome figure overall. When he was younger, Faust was always known for his somewhat playful expression and bright smile, but as he grew an emotionless and cold play has become to reside upon his facial expression. A very cool and non-excessive individual. Panic is not in his vocabulary.

• Upper/Lower-Body Structure: A smooth face, long hair that when in the right position, covers his menacing eyes. His eyes usually very relaxed, known for their terrible glow from time-to-time. Has a crane-like neck, an overall muscular build, but nothing excessive and unnecessary. A set of perky ears are perched high on his head and are identified easily by strangers who look at his large frame. A long tail that is usually kept out in certain clothing or is hidden under a long coat that he tends to wear in rather cold weather. Has several scars that are scattered around his body and has more than one tattoo on his body. Sticking out his tongue, you will notice a tongue stud, as well as a small piercing above his right eyebrow. Well-developed claws that are gentle and smooth to the touch. Maintains a key form of balance and knows how to control his height. His overall structure is very slender and muscular, enough so that he can be the dominant one in a fight, in terms of body type. A very fit individual. Enjoys keeping in shape so that he can be in peak performance 210% of the time.

• Choice in Clothing Preference: Faust wears a black ribbed shirt with light steel shoulder-guards. Leather straps run from the front of the guards down to the attachment by his hips. His forearms, for the most part, are left exposed and unguarded. Though, he does wear often his black gloves that are cut off by the knuckles and studded. In colder weather, he wears a long black coat that goes past his hips and his torn in several places by the bottom, the material similar to leather. Two straps placed on the shoulders, sleeves that are too large for his own arms, going past his wrists easily. He wears what might seem like a skirt at first place, but is chain mail covered by a dark material that reaches past down his lower thighs. Under these garments would be long black pants that often drag under his heel. Faust's shoes never changing from the boots that go just a little bit past his ankles. Around his neck is a chain that holds seven Sauronmogue Shink teeth, which he extracted from the mouth's personally.

Eye Color: Hazel. Often seen as a dark green. [Changes tint with the seasons.]

Hair Color: Black with blonde highlights. [Depending on if he's out in the sun for too long.]
Hair Style: Long dark hair that is usually past his eyes and covers a small portion of his ears. Ruffled, spikey, and too straight.

Nationality: Windurstian. Was born within the boundaries of the Federation of Windurst.

Fighting Style: Freestyle. But known for his immense swordsmanship as he was trained by the Third Company Captain of the Mithra Mercenaries, Alexis. He has grown to be worthy of holding a sword. To the point, where his strength became over-abundant, his blood lust was not to be controlled. In betrayal, Faust slaughtered his commander and gained control of the Third Company so that he could unfold a different agenda. In honorable combat, Alexis fell. Faust had gained the title of Captain not through a stealthy killing but a brutal and sickening slaughter. His company was absolutely appalled by his behavior, that his immense skill was used in such a horrible manner. Needless to say, that Faust is revered and feared for his ability not merely the stories that surround his mere presence.

History/Biography: Faust was born an outcast, set aside an outcast. Many would wonder why when they first heard this statement. I mean, was it possible for someone to be so unloved and hated merely for his existence? Sure. Looking at the facts, Faust is a male Mithra. I'm sure that just raised a few brows right there. The rest of his tribe in Windurst sought console when the boy was born. Superiors were baffled merely that the boy had a male genitalia and that he should be killed. The majority of the tribe in Curthen, Windurst stood up and took control of the situation and managed to gain the right to raising the boy. Although, he would be watched very closely, the boy was raised rather as an abnormality around people. A young, handsome boy... Faust was rather POPULAR with the females. Being that he was the only male in a species of branded females. Change was a funny thing as he grew up, wanting more out of this hunter-lifestyle his people chose. A very intelligent and strong young man as he grew, challenging those who put authority over him. Although, he still maintains that mischievous nature that his ancestors all hold. Curiosity is a beautiful thing to him as his mischief would usually get him in trouble when he was younger with the older Mithra that took charge of him. Though, he was still being watched by those Superiors in the Federation that would choose to end his life whenever they could. Faust threatened their society, their existence, in general.

When the boy grew of age, he chose to leave his tribe for a little while as he trained under the Third Company Captain, Alexis of the Mithra Mercenaries. She had plucked him from the tribe when he was very young, being one of the people to stand up to those Superiors who threatened the boys life. She raised the boy as his loving older sister, even though she was forced to battle and war many a time. Maybe it was the fact that her "brother" was everything to her, and that made her persevere on the battlefield. When he reached the age of ten, Alexis agreed to train him as a Freesword. And as he grew, so did his skills. She watched as her loving "brother" grew to such an abnormal height. His fighting prowess grew with each passing day, and it came to her realization that he was growing more and more silent, more and more calculative. He began to challenge the way Windurstian government was run and grew with a terrible hatred for the Galka, much like every Mithra. Soon, the boy began to fade into a sedative persona, hating almost everything that caused him to be a nuisance. Alexis was his one true love, even though a surrogate sister, they shared a strange romantic relationship. Everyone was weak, in his eyes, noone contained the innocence that they once had. Faust could only turn to Alexis as his mistress, his lover, even though he could bend any woman to his will, seeing as he had a very strong control on females. Being the only male in an all female species does have it's perks, ya know. Even though, they want him dead. (xP)

Then came the fateful day where Faust eventually pushed Alexis into a form of honorable combat, death being the only option of escape. The stake up for grabs was her title as the Captain of the Third Company. Even though Faust ran next to Alexis as one of the highest and strongest figure in the Third Company, he was growing extremely violent. To the point where he had killed several officers to get his point across and have others forced to be under control of his order. Alexis had finally confronted him about the matter and in an increasingly violent rage, Faust challenged his lover, his sister into honorable combat. The situation was set, the battle was to rage on. After an hour and a half's worth of time, Alexis limp and battered body had fallen. Faust's menacing and darkly triumphant figure, standing tall as the new Captain of the Third Company. He had become a beast and killed the one that loved him most, Faust had finally made himself ostracized among his people. Although, he was feared and revered as the Captain. The title of The Third Syn was now made to be his. Faust now controls the Third Company as it's leader and still wages war with the Windurstian government. But what was his motive for killing Alexis? What was his motive for challenging her to honorable combat? Only Faust knew. And maybe, just maybe, one twisted little Elvaan girl that managed to make her way into his heart.

Faust now walks the earth as a shattered individual, seeking a excruciatingly painful end to the Windurstian Federation. Although, the little Elvaan girl remains unknown, few besides Faust have seen her. Love can be a bitch, no?


Personality: Is that of an emotionless individual, what more can you say about a man that can barely have feeling as it is. It's hard for him to feel anything substantial, let alone emotionally drawing from his overall persona. Emotionally, he is shattered and broken. To him, redemption and salvation no longer exist and he is left to fend for himself. Sometimes, he looks back on the death on Alexis and is often very distraught and depressed about it. She was his world, the light in the darkness of sin and in the end, he was the sin that cut her throat. Her death only sparked more depressions fits of anger and sorrow as he no longer has direction in life. But this little Elvaan girl, her beautiful little smile, he saw innocence and purity in it. Maybe that's why he didn't have trouble being with such a beautiful and intelligent girl.

Strengths: Faust is very fast and powerful, with a blade it could take him no longer than a few seconds but to have your corpse splayed upon the ground. He is also an excellent hand-to-hand combat fighter which makes him danger without wielding a weapon most times. A very intelligent individual, who has politically accurate views on the way that people should go about living their life and how the government should act as a whole. Being that he is so politically inclined, Faust has also developed an anarcho-primitivism outlook to his behavior. A wise individual, but often very quiet around people. His squad knows how to act as a whole on the battlefield with their commander, for they realize the consequence of failure will be if they live through the battle and survive without completing would should have been done. Often seen as more sadist than anything, Faust also contains many masochistic feelings, but only showed them while around Alexis as she mistressed the boy. His movements are fluid and very fast to his opponents, making him slightly difficult to read on the opposing side of combat. He knows how to take advantage of weakness well and how use the environment to his liking.

Weaknesses: Mentally, this man is in a horrible and painful state of mind. Not knowing how to handle many situations that cause him emotional pain as he often tries to avoid the feelings of love and lust. As stated, he is very quiet, so communication definitely is not one of his strong points. And although being very muscular, Faust's body is not made to be beat on constantly, though he continues to push his body so that he can control the amount of damage received. He doesn't like talking with people if it's unnecessary and enjoys only getting his point across to those he See's as unintelligent. Being that he has an emotional detachment issue, it makes it difficult for him to want to feel anything other than the basics. It's hard for him to be happy, excited, nervous, worried, angry... So a sedative mindset is what plagues him most.

Unnecessary Notice: Faust absolutely LOVES laying out in the fields of Sarutabaruta. Enjoys sitting out at night as well as during the day, but it's more of an eye-candy as the moon floats hopelessly above, making a beautiful scene for him.
