How about...we stay with the level up system we had, but if someone wants to have a grade of their request (including transfers) they have to submit a something or other stating why they think they should be able to do it.
Examples:
Transfer from 552: I'd like to be a junior because I was a junior from 552....(and give detailed description of past plot for char).
New char: I'd like to be a sophomore because my characters development is such and such and...(possibly have to give some backstory to support their char).
There can be a specific board where this is done and can be approved or denied by adminnyness. That way people can still work toward their goal or leveling up by posts (like Phishy and I, and probably other people want to) whereas the few who want to start at a certain can to, but with good reason.
And maybe you can allow the 'freedom of age' (at least for new chars) to be fresh-junior, no allowing them to become seniors right off. This wouldnt apply to transfers because if they are already seniors when they transfer, then that might be hard to do.

I don't really see how it's going to affect character's grade level. Because I've known people back when I was in highschool who were 18 and still a freshman. One of my old homies has a brother that graduated from highschool at the age of 20.
Wouldn't matter. Stat caps are the same for the grade levels. You could change in age but end up repeating a grade or two.

Well my suggestion would be to change it back, and still have freedom of rank movement.

Fuck no. You start with 90 and gain from there if you jump a rank then you dont get the extra 10 exp for rank advancement. You do however get the caps, but who cares? How are you possibly going to get all yer stats up to 30 in 300 posts? I fight more than anyone ever and I get 30 in every stat after 1,500 posts.
"What if I want to stay in one rank forever?"
Um, we can lower post count too, all the way back to the beginning of the rank.

well i want to keep it the same way. Also i did not make this change, to put it on the record. Wish I did, but i didn't.
Any case I want to keep it the same, but I suggested to Ryu have everyone start as a freshamn, then after like say 100 post they get to choose if they go up.
So the rank system would be
Freshman
Member
Regular
or what ever.
I know its stupid.

Damn it! *hits arm for acting by itself* ... I didn't mean to vote, yes I know it takes two clicks and it's hard not to realized what you're doing, but I just woke up (I'm mean just woke up) and so gimme a break.
Anyway take away a vote off of "Like it, it stays" and "dispose" of it. Basically what I thought was what Ally and Super Leon said, talking to myself too.
